Jalex: The Ability to be Unpredictable
Summary: Jack and Alex are dating in college. Alex just got back after being with his parents for a few days.
(Alex)
I let out a long sigh as I stand in front of the room door. Jack stayed here during Spring break, while I had to go to my parents' place. I try to push the corners of my lips down, but I can't help it. They keep coming up, and I think I've been smiling ever since I got back to campus. Which, by the way- really makes your face hurt.
I don't trust that I'll be able to take another step, so I knock on the door softly, my knuckles almost barely grazing the door.
"Coming!" I hear his sweet voice call from the other side. I wince as I hear a thud. He curses and walks over to the door. He opens it and stares at me, his eyes glittering and his lips turned into a smile like mine- except way cuter. He's in sweatpants and a loose white t-shirt.
"Lexy?" He says excitedly. "You're back two days early!" He says.
"Is that okay? I wanted to surprise you and-" he cuts me off by pressing his lips against mine. He wraps his arms around me and brings me inside.
"I missed you so much," he sighs and shuts the door behind us. I laugh and bring my bags over to my side of the room- well technically ever since we started dating, we've been sleeping in the same bed- which is his- so I don't ever use mine except for homework and shit.
He comes up behind me and wraps his arms loosely around my hips, drawing me close against his chest. He rests his chin on my shoulder. "School doesn't start for another two days," he mumbles.
"Oh no. I guess I'll have to spend it with you then. What a shame," I say sarcastically before turning around to face him.
"Rude," he pouts. I let out a soft 'aww' and peck his nose. He grins and nuzzles his against mine. "I think Zack was trying to get me killed. I kept trying to stay home and be lonely but he tried dragging me out to a skateboarding park and a dude almost ran me the fuck over," he says, mindlessly telling the story. "Now that you're back, I'm allowed to be a lazy-ass bitch," he smiles.
"Aw, poor Jacky almost die?" I say. He nods sadly. "It's okay. No one will hurt you," I answer and give him a wide smile. He laughs and picks me up. "Hey! No, Jack-" I yelp as he walks over to his bed. He sets me down, laughing his heart out.
I shrug and curl up under the blanket. I scoot to the side and pat the space next to me. "I assume you were asleep when I got back?" I ask. He nods and lays down next to me.
"My soul was secretly waiting for you though," he answers. I let out a soft laugh and turn to wrap my arms around him. "I woke up like three seconds before you knocked on the door."
"Wow. Telepathy, right?" I joke. He rolls his eyes and kisses the top of my head.
"Tell me everything," he says, lacing his fingers with mine.
I let out a soft sigh. "It was alright. Mom was acting pretty normal and gently and all that kind of stuff. Dad slipped up and made a gay joke," I feel him grip my hand slightly, reassuring me that he's here. "It's okay though. He said he's sorry."
"Said or gave you a look?" He asks. Damnit. He knows me too well. My silence gives him the answer: the latter. He sighs and runs his fingertips up my arm. "It's okay. They'll get it someday. At least they're trying, right?" He shrugs.
Jack's parents basically threw him out when he came out- so I have it a lot better than he does. Yet, somehow, Jack is willing to listen and still believes my issues are valid.
I don't deserve him oh my god.
He smiles at me and pecks my forehead. "Next time you leave for more than two days, you gotta bring me, okay Lexy?" He says in a childish voice.
I let out a soft laugh and mock his childish voice. "Okay!"
He giggles and turns to press his lips to mine, pulling me into a soft kiss. His lips are warm and soft. He smells like the body wash I jokingly bought for him (it was cherry), and his breath smells like coffee and mint. Somehow, he makes it work (I'm not very sure how though).
I catch him staring at me, his smile radiating like the sun. "What?" I laugh softly.
"You're beautiful," he answers. He wraps one arm firmly around my waist. "And I love you so much."
I smile back. He's so cute what the fuck- "I love you too," I answer. I bury my face into his warm chest, hearing his heartbeat in my ears and feeling the way his chest rises and falls with every breath he takes.
He lays back onto his back and I rest my head on his chest. He plays with my hair and I wrap one arm over his hips.
"I could stay like this forever," he mumbles. He moves his arm to flick off the lamp next to the bed.
I stare at him with the dim light coming through the curtain. His eyes seem to twinkle when it's dark.
I hug him tighter and take a deep breath.
"Me too," I finally reply. He let out a soft laugh and traces his finger on my arm.
"Hey, Alex?" He asks softly.
"Yeah?" I move my head to glance at him.
"Will you be my boyfriend?"
I roll my eyes and move back to my original position. "Jack, we've been dating for two years now."
He laughs, his chest moving, moving my head, moving my entire body. "I know. I just like to be unpredictable."
"Do you know what's unpredictable?" I ask.
"What?"
I sit up. "This," I say and press a kiss on his lips. He smiles as I pull away.
"Your definition of unpredictability is fun," he comments and opens his arms so that I can lay down again, my head on his chest. "Without you, I'd be the most predictable unpredictable person alive."
I smile against his shirt. A laugh escaping my lips. "I love you either way."
He gives me a smug look. "I sure hope so."
I roll my eyes. "Oh shut up."
"Make me-"
I press my palm against his lips and he yelps.
"This is not what I meant-" he mumbles against my hand.
"See? Unpredictable."
He groans and moves my hand away. He kisses the back of it before letting go of it. "You win."
"I always win," I say.
"No, I did. I got you," he says flirtatiously.
"Jacky, it's 12 am. I can't think straight anymore-"
"Oh Lexy, you've never thought straight."
"JACK," I groan.
"Fine, fine. Goodnight. I love you."
