Gawsten: Lucky People

Summary: Awsten likes someone.

(Title from Lucky People by Waterparks).

(Awsten)

The crowd goes absolutely crazy as the last part of Turbulent plays, the bass blasting through the speakers. I look down and see people jumpings, flailing, even a small moshpit in the center.

"Hey, fuck!" I shout into the mic. "I know we can get crazier. Let's do it again!" I speak. We replay the ending and watch as the crowd's wildness doubles- no, triples.

Someone crowd surfs to the front and jumps down, waving violently at me. I wink and look back over at the crowd. "Fuck yeah!" I shout. "Thank you, goodnight!" I wave to the crowd.

The room is filled with a collective "Awww," as we leave the stage. I laugh and tackle Geoff. Everyone's sweaty and smells like shit, but he looks cute nonetheless. He laughs back and wraps one arm around to keep me balanced.

"That was amazing!" Jawn shouts, running over and wrapping one arm around Otto's neck. Otto laughs and leans against him.

Geoff glances at me and smiles softly. I smile back and shyly look down at the ground. Jawn and Otto must've noticed because they share a knowing glance and smirk.

"Great job guys, let's get ready to go, alright?" Zakk says, walking over to us. He smiles at Geoff and I before turning to Jawn. "I need some help, can you-"

"Yeah, yeah," Jawn rolls his eyes playfully. Zakk makes a humpf sound and turns around, walking to the dressing room. Jawn winks at Otto before dashing off after Zakk.

Geoff gives me a odd look. "What?" I ask, tilting my head slightly. "Is something-" he interrupts me by throwing me over his shoulder and marching to the room. "Geoff!" I whine, flailing my arms. He laughs and I look up to see Otto following behind us, just laughing.

Geoff lowers me onto a chair before walking away. Otto pulls another chair up and stares at me, a smile resting on his lips. "You like him, don't you?" He narrows his eyes, his smile growing slightly wider.

My cheeks feel hot-hotter than normal. I purse my lips and shrug. "I can't say I do," I play it off. Otto groans.

"But you also can't say you don't," he says cheekily. I roll my eyes and give him an evil look. "Admit it Awsten, you're in looooooove," he drags out the "o" and leans toward me.

I shrug again and stand up. I make my way to my backpack and walk back toward him to get to the bathroom. "Maybe I am," I whisper before walking away. I hear him gasp and do a little fangirl squeal.

~~~
"Hey, Aws?" Geoff looks up from his phone. Both of us ended up in the back lounge because Jawn and Otto were fawning over their girlfriends, and we got bored.
"Yeah?" I ask, looking up from my notebook. I meet his eyes and immediately avert my glance. Why does he have to be so pretty?
"Are you okay?" He asks. I nibble on the inside of my cheek. "I saw you while you were singing Lucky People, you looked kind of... Sad."
"Oh, that?" I laugh off. "That was just sweat and the lights in my eyes. I'm fine," I smile. No, I'm not, but not for the reason you think.
He sighs. "It's just... You've said that line before, which was right after Ciara and..." He puts his phone down and places a hand on my knee. I stare down at his hand, my heart pounding out of my chest.
"I don't want to pry, but, just know, I'm here if you need me," he offers. I nod and manage a small smile, slowly placing my hand over his. He smiles back and opens his arms. I comply and lean against his chest, letting him wrap his arms around me. Friendly cuddling, right?
"You're my best friend," he mumbles against my hair. My heart slightly sinks when he says that. Friend. That's it.
"Yeah, you're mine," I answer back slowly, my heart breaking as I saw so. "My best friend, in the entire world."
A few moments later, Geoff must have fallen asleep, but I didn't want to risk waking him by checking. His breathing pattern went steady and his arms around me loosened.
I look over and see Otto and Jawn staring at us through the small window thing on the door. Otto just smirks and hits Jawn upside the head.
I smile back as Otto creeps in, dimming the lights for us. He winks at me before walking off, shutting the door.
"Awsten?" Geoff whispers softly. "Are you still awake?"
I nod and turn my head slightly. I still can't see his face. "Yeah, I thought you were asleep," I whisper back.
"I was, but Otto came in. He isn't as quiet as he thinks," he jokes. "I think I need to tell you something. It's kind of important."
I turn my whole down, leaning my side against him. I stare at him.
"I have uh, feelings for someone," he says awkwardly. My heart shatters. Of course. It would never be me.
"Oh?" I sit up ever so slightly. "Do I know her?" I ask, trying to mask the fact that I want to curl up into a corner and die.
He shakes his head. "His.
"His- oh," I purse my lips. "Who is this lucky guy?" I ask. He goes red. "Or, would you rather not tell?"
"No, I just don't know how to tell you," he mumbles. "You know this person pretty well, and it's kind of, I don't know, weird?"
What, he likes Otto? I practically feel my soul roll its eyes.
"Well, I'm the living definition of weird," I offer. "I'm used to weird, and besides, you can tell me anything you want."
He nods. "Well, I mean-" he seems to be weighing his decisions in his head. "Awsten, I-" he takes a deep breath.
Looks like I'm about to find out the lucky guy that gets the honor of being liked by Geoff.
He gently cups his hand on my cheek, one arm still around my waist for balance. I might go into cardiac arrest. Someone call the ambulance before it's too late. Oh, God.
He leans in slowly, his eyes flickering down to my lips. Oh. OH. He moves his hand from my cheek to the back of my neck. "I like you," he whispers, giving me a hesitant look.
Well fuck. I feel my eyes widen on impulse and I blink like thirty times in two seconds. I stare at him in complete shock. On the inside, my heart just blew up and the butterflies in my stomach all had babies and basically quadrupled in population.
He gulps and gives me a look. "Aws, I'm sorry that was really out of line and-"
"I like you too," I blurt out. His eyes soften and he smiles.
"Yeah?" He asks.
"Yeah," I answer and close the gap between us.
