The Servant Girl

I was chilled to the bone in the cell, but I kept the faith that things would get better. While I laid down on the creaky bed, I could hear faint crying in the distance. My mind decided against looking for it, because it could be Jareth trying to trick me.

"We can't be together, Eric." I could hear a woman's voice say, "I am in love with Raoul."

"Don't you dare say his name! I'm your one and only love Christine!" Eric's tone that you couldn't mistake.

"Please Eric this isn't you. Do you not see that what you are doing is wrong? Let Raoul and me go."

"Eric laughed like a madman, "This is right Christine! You are now in my possession and my angel will never fly away from me! You are forever mine!"

This couldn't be a trick from Jareth, and Christine really needed my help. So, I quickly raised from the bed and started to go near the bars when I hear...

"Precious, what do you think you're doing?"

I flinched. No, please, not now.

"Trying to find a way to help her."

It was no use lying to him. After all, he probably already knew what I was up to.

"There is a problem with that."

"What?" I snapped at him.

"You're stuck in a cell, and you don't have the key." he grinned pulling out a gold key from thin air.

"Stop doing this to me. I'm done with your tricks." I rolled my eyes.

"This can all end only if you'll just agree to marry me." he pleaded.

"I can't, Cade would be heartbroken."

"Who cares what that boy thinks? He is just a weakling who whines far too much." Jareth growled low.

"Don't you talk about him that way!" I yelled.

"I can do whatever I wish, precious. You do not have the power to disobey me."

That's when I suddenly remembered the power Jareth had given me, and no was the perfect time to use it.

"You have no power over me!" I screamed at him.

For a few minutes there was silence, but then there was laughter. Jareth was chuckling loudly and it made me shiver in confusion and fear.

"Why won't it work?" I groaned in frustration.

He grabbed my wrist and jerked me towards him.

"Because, Sarah , last time you got lucky, but this time... you'll never get out."

Anger was boiling up inside of me, and there was no other way to let it go. So with my free hand, I slapped Jareth hard across the face. He let go of my wrist immediately, and hissed as his hand reached the cheek I'd hit.

"Don't defy me!"

"I will always defy you, Jareth! Don't you see that I can never love you, because I am in love with Cade!"

A wicked grin appeared on his face growing more devilish by the second.

"If this Cade was supposedly gone would that help you see your rightful place?"

I tried to back away from him but he grabbed my waist tightly in his hands.

"I will take that as a yes."

A soft brush of air hit me, and then I was in a totally different room. It was elegantly arranged. There was a king size bed, full midnight blue in the left corner. A grand desk in the other and a matching chair and a crystal vase filled with roses on top of it. The floor was a classy marble, but the walls were painted shiny gold. No windows and only one door which had a certain someone in front of it.

"This shall be your new quarters as my queen. I will be back in the morning with a proposition."

Jareth left me standing there wide eyed and very perplexed.

"He wouldn't... he couldn't..." My thoughts overwhelmed my sense, as I began to pound furiously.

"Don't you dare hurt Cade! You're a monster!"

I felt someone quickly tap my shoulder and shush me.

"Miss Sarah, please lower your voice. You will only enrage the master."

I turned around to see a slim woman in servant's wears. Her hair was curly, blonde, and pinned up in a messy bun.

"That's the point!" I hissed at her.

She looked down at the floor stepping back away from me. Guilt was present in both of us and I had to break it.

"Sorry."

"What?" she squeaked her head raising a little, "What did you say?"

"I'm sorry I snapped at you. So you're a servant?"

"More like a slave miss." the woman sulked.

"Are you Jareth's or Eric's servant?"

"I used to be Eric's miss, but I was sold over to Jareth."

"Please, call me Sarah." I said trying to be friendly, "What's your name?"

"Meg. Meg Giry." she responded somewhat happily.

"Well Meg, do you know a way out of here? I'd like to find my way home."

"Sorry Sarah, if I tell you anything Jareth will have my head." Meg trembled.

"You are certainly right about that Meg." A dark voice rang out.

We both jumped back in fright, and Meg quickly disappeared.

"What did you do with Meg?" I screamed.

"Don't worry precious she will not be harmed. I just needed her gone so I could get you..."

I felt a hand grip my waist and Jareth's hot breath on my neck.

"Alone..."
