" To love is to accept a soul entirely, not wishing that the person was otherwise, nor hoping for change, nor clinging to some ideal past. To love is to cherish the individual standing before you presently-charms, quirks, and all. To love is to give someone a piece of your heart that you will never, ever reclaim."
---Richelle E.Goodrich
Aaradhya step into the classroom and walked towards the middle row of seats as usual, but keenly sensed that there was something wrong with the atmosphere in the class..
Several classmates were looking at her quietly, and quickly lowered their heads after meeting her gaze. A few of her friends saw her and gathered around with anxious faces.
“What’s the matter?” Aaradhya asked them.
Swetha took out her phone, tapped twice on the screen, and handed it to Aaradhya; "Here,Look at this post. Now it has been forwarded a lot.”
Aaradhya took the phone and looked at it.
This was a long twitter post. It was published twelve hours ago. The publisher has a blue verified badge.
The post title was very eye-catching: “Gold digger abandons her broken boyfriend”.
Aaradhya squinted her eyes and continued to look down.
That day Aaradhya's department has a basketball match with other department. After playing for sometime, she returned to stands and watched the others play.
After a while, when Aaradhya was distracted, she suddenly heard Keerthi's cry of ‘be careful’. She looked over only to see a black shadow rush over and hit the boy sitting next to her who stood infront of her who knows when, directly on his head. With a dull sound, the basketball fell to the ground and rolled to one side.
The boy gritted his teeth and held onto his head. His eyes were red, and tears looked like there were ready to flow out.
With a ball flying over at such a fast speed, it would naturally be very painful. That boy seems to be someone who is afraid of pain.
From another court, two senior boys from another department ran over to collect the ball. Clearly, one of them had thrown the ball.
Keerthi and others run towards the stands and stood infront of Aaradhya, wanting to teach them a lesson.
In such a situation if they had manners they would come over to apologise. The method of apologising would also be different. Some would realise that they had injured another person and feeling bad, they would rush over apologising profusely while asking if they’re ok. Others would just think that it was not unusual for the ball to hit another person and would just casually throw out an apology before picking up the ball and walking off.
They happened to be of the latter group,
One ran over and casually said “my bad” before heading over in the balls’ direction.
Another boy said, “It looks like it hit him pretty hard. That junior still hasn’t lifted his head. Is he crying?”
The boy shrugged indifferently, “It’s just being hit by a ball. How painful can that be for a man like him?”
They were still a few metres away from the ball when they suddenly saw a figure agilely pass them and pick up the ball. The figure looked up at them expressionlessly with a cold look in her eyes.
The corner of Aaradhya's mouth twitched as she repeated his words. It was spoken very lightly but they couldn’t help but feel that it was spoken very coldly: “It’s just being hit by a ball. How painful can that be?”
A smile gradually grew on her angelic face and it slowly morphed into a sneer, “Why don’t you give it a try?”
She twisted her wrist and mercilessly threw the ball at the boy.
The boy didn’t expect her to do this and he wasn’t able to dodge in time. The moment his head was hit by the ball, the vision before him turned black and his head felt like it was being smashed. He couldn’t help but yell out in anger: “Are you crazy?!”
Aaradhya who was yelled at just stood on the metal steps and smiled softly. There was an innocent smile on her face and she leisurely asked,“Does it hurt?"
The boy gritted his teeth and gave Aaradhya a death glare. He picked up the ball and just wanted to go back.
Seeing this Keerthi said in a dark voice, “Did we say you can go? Apologise.”
The boy was angered to the point that his face went red. His head was also still throbbing from the pain. He roared out, “Don’t take it too far!”
Unfortunately for them... They didn't know who they were dealing with. The basketball team didn't stand a chance infront of these girls.
Anirudh had started teaching Aaradhya along with Keerthi to fight when both were still in first grade. Aakash and Aadhya's grandpa had also taught them some moves.
But Aaradhya was too good at learning, and the three of them were too good at teaching. They'd accidentally taught her so well. Aaradhya had gotten into one or two fights. But it was a good thing that she never bullied those who were weaker than her. She only fought back against bullies and she'd never lost a fight.
The other boys from Aaradhya's department also witnessed this scene and stood on their side. They yelled back, “What is too far? Do you not have any manners? Not apologising after hitting someone and even bullying juniors? What happened to your morals?”
About twenty boys surrounded them and the two suddenly appeared very weak. As their classmates, the other students from the other court also walked over and someone spoke up to try and settle things down: “It’s just a small thing. He has already apologised, and Aaradhya has already smashed him with the ball. Like this, it should be settled.”
Keerthi unfortunately was not someone who could be reasoned like this. To her, when something is wrong, it’s wrong. How dare they are to throw ball at her friend.. If they don’t acknowledge their mistake, then she would beat them until they do.
And so, she said: “Apologised? But why do I feel like he wants to fight? It doesn’t matter We Are Happy To.”
Each word was spoken with emphasis and enveloped with strong anger. Those who heard it felt a chill down their spine.
The faces of the students in the other department turned ugly but, truthfully speaking, they were the ones who were in the wrong. So they apologized profusely and back away from there.
Aaradhya thanked the boy who took the hit in place of her and offered to take him to medical center.
This was just an episode for her, Aaradhya forgot about that boy.
Swetha angrily said, "Originally, the direction was quite normal. Later. I didn't know which idiots were pushing on it. It takes turn into scolding you.."
There posted a video in which it can be seen that Aaradhya was rejecting the boy and getting into the costly car.
That boy was holding the roses in his hand and his head was drooped low. The people around him were pointing at him, and he looked a bit pitiful.
They said that, She dumped a wonderful young man who loved her because he was a penniless loser for a rich person.
Aaradhya didn’t read the whole nonsense that followed, and turned directly to the comment sections. There were thousands of comments.
In the comments, students who responded with enthusiasm all expressed their desire to support the boy,to stand up for that poor boy, and scolded Aaradhya for being a gold digger!
There were more unpleasant insults. All the sharp accusations and attacks pointed to Aaradhya alone.
Even if everything was just speculation, no one cared about the true or false. The maliciousness on the Internet was crazy and cheap. They only needed a target and enjoyed the pleasure of knocking down the target. The truth was not important.
Aaradhya's classmates supported her and fought with the other department students in the comments but they can't stand a chance infront of those malicious commenters.
Aaradhya is always quite low key and no one know that she is the heiress of billions worth company.
Therefore, most people didn't believe her classmates after they heard that she was a real tyrant.
Aaradhya, the said gold digger after reading the post: "..."
Aaradhya has grown up in a pure and innocent world; it’s really her first time coming across something like this. She can’t even find words to describe her feeling. Disgust overflows in her heart.
"The story is well written. But I am very dissatisfied with the description of the heroine." Keerthi commented to ease the situation.
Swetha was afraid that Aaradhya saw too many bad remarks and hurriedly took the phone back from Aadhya’s hand.
In order to let Aaradhya ease her heart, Swetha consoled, “ It’s definitely someone who is messing with you! Aadhya, don’t mind it.” she said with an indignant expression. In her mind, their Aadhya was never such kind of person.
Ramya chimed in, “ Proposing at the dormitory entrance, the most crowded place-he’s not stupid, he’s super stupid! People with brains wouldn’t have done this kind of thing.”
Keerthi sneered, “This junior brother knows to wear a hat to conceal himself.”
Aaradhya shook her head indicating she is alright then opened her whatsapp and found that there were many new messages sent by her classmates. Some said they believed her, some comforted her, and some were aggrieved. She thanked her classmates and returned to her seat.
After few minutes, Abhinav entered the class, headed towards the dias and started his lecture.
Ramya finally noticed something and asked Aadhya, "Where did you go yesterday? You didn't return to the dormitory and you even got to change your dress."
"I went to my cousin's place last night." Aaradhya explained.
"Hooo..." Keerthi made noise and winked at Aaradhya.
On the lecture stage, Abhinav was teaching in seriousness, but off the stage, four particular students weren’t paying attention.
So, Abhinav pointed Aaradhya and her roommate's out.
"Listen carefully, don't you want to be in the class?"
"Sorry." Aaradhya quickly apologized.
"Sorry Professor." Aaradhya's roommates also apologized.
But, as soon as Abhinav turned around, Ramya secretly said to Aaradhya, "Professor Abhinav seems to be gentle, but he's also very strict."
"That's enough!" Aaradhya cried as she tugged her sleeve.
"When we get back to the dorm, you better give me a proper explanation." Keerthi said.
Abhinav cleared his throat and sent a message to Aaradhya. "You'll be punished for not being serious in class. "
"This is all your fault. My roommates keeps asking me where I was last night."
"You can honestly tell them that you stayed at your husband's place."
"Professor Abhinav.. please continue your class."
After Aaradhya finished typing the last sentence, she put down her phone. At this time, Abhinav glanced over at Aaradhya and smiled.
In the middle of the class, Abhinav's cell phone vibrated. He took it out and saw that it was Arjun’s call.
Knowing that Arjun won't call unless it's urgent, After saying them to take a break, Abhinav walked away to get the call.
"Brother, someone is slandering my Vadina (sister-in-law)..."
