-YAYAYAYAYAYAY....KEEEEEEEEFFFFEEEEEEEE
Now... Where we left off...
Sophie stared at Keefe for a moment, her eyes full of worry. Keefe was known for joking around at the wrong times but now felt like a time where the girl in front of him could use a little lightening up.
"You seem pretty upset, you must really love talking!" Sophie smiled at him and Keefe was immediately glad he had said something. He was glad that he had seen her and helped her, maybe they would become friends. He was about to ask her some more questions when the door burst open.
In walked a boy whose concerned teal eyes suddenly flashed with recognition, "Sophie?"
Sophie's eyes widened in dismay. Keefe saw her tense up, and he looked to Fitz in confusion. "Care to explain?" Keefe asked, annoyed that he was being left out of the staring competition between the two.
"No. Not really," Responded Fitz.
"And why is that?!" Keefe retorted, his annoyance growing stronger. He looked over to Sophie who didn't look back. She was playing with the hem of Keefe's bedspread and now refused to meet either boy in the eyes. Keefe could feel Sophie shaking beside him and could tell she was extremely scared... of what, Keefe didn't know.
"Are you okay?" Fitz asked Sophie and he inched towards her and tried to hold his hand out to touch her arm. Sophie flinched away from the touch. Her eyes dilated and she looked around in all different directions like a trapped animal.
"What the heck, dude? You're scaring her!" Keefe had only just met Sophie, but he didn't like the effect his friend was having on her. "Stop!"
"Please Keefe, you don't even know her. I've known her for over six years!" Keefe looked over to confirm this fact with Sophie, but she was gone. Keefe's door swung back and forth on it's hinges. "Now see what you've done! Unbelievable!"
Both boys raced out of the room. Keefe ran down the hallway in one direction, while Fitz ran the other. He had a feeling that Sophie would be back in her room and he hoped that Fitz didn't know where it was. He dashed through the hallways, his heart beating quickly. The world moved by him at an incredibly fast speed. Finally, coming to a side hall that he recognized, Keefe found Sophie's room.
The door was open and clothing was strewn on the floor. The bed was unmade and the kitchen looked like it had been abandoned as someone was in the middle of making pancakes. Pictures of Sophie and another boy were all around the room. Keefe walked deeper into the room. A window facing the school courtyard was swinging open.
On the window was a note.
On the note was five words. Each written in delicate but rushed handwriting.
