Valaena swallowed when she saw Ser Harrold Westerling. She knew that Ser Harrold would snitch on Daemon to her father and she also knew that she would be in big trouble for being seen with her uncle!

Her mother would be disappointed and her father would just give her another one of his sermons. She hated his sermons and she wondered when he would finally stop!

Slowly, Daemon stood up and walked towards Ser Harrold. Valaena's eyes widened as she knew that this would end badly, but nobody listened to her! She also got up in a flash and walked towards the two men!

Ser Harrold raised his right eyebrow when he saw Princess Valaena walking towards him and Daemon. Then he sighed and pressed a letter into Daemon's hand. Daemon looked at him in confusion, then opened the letter and watched as Ser Harrold ran back into the palace.

Valaena didn't understand and looked at Daemon with a questioning look. He just shrugged his shoulders and began to read the letter. The letter said that King Viserys had decided to appoint Daemon as commander of the city watch!

His eyes widened and he dropped the letter. Valaena frowned and picked up the letter. As she began to read, she had a queasy feeling in her stomach, but this subsided after reading a little more! Suddenly she started to grin and hugged Daemon!

He let out a noise of happiness and returned the hug. His brother wanted him close to him after all! He couldn't believe his luck and quickly broke away from the embrace, took Valaena's right hand and ran into the palace with her!

He wanted to thank his brother and swear his loyalty to him. But he knew that Aemma would not accept him at court. He knew that he first had to win her trust and treat his nieces better than he already did! But how was he supposed to do that? Winning her trust was difficult and he had already failed 10 years ago.

He also wondered how he could treat his nieces better than he already did. Was that even possible? Valaena looked at him. What was he thinking about? Why were his thoughts absent?

Did it have something to do with the fact that her mother wouldn't approve of him leading the city watch? Was that his only concern?

Many would not approve of it and he knew that, but her mother would do anything to make King Viserys change his mind! And in most cases she was successful. But now Valaena was old enough to speak her mind and stand up for her uncle!

It would get her into a lot of trouble with her mother, but she didn't care about that at the moment! All she cared about was that Daemon got a chance! A chance that he had more than earned! He had proven his loyalty many times and each time her father had banished him!

She thought it was unfair. She thought it was unfair that he wasn't even given the chance to prove himself and his loyalty! But now things would be different. She could feel it! It started with the birth of her sister. Her beautiful and still so little sister! With her little fingers, her red cheeks, her little snub nose - Rhaenyra was just perfect!

And Valaena would remind her forever if Rhaenyra doubted it! She would always remind her sister that she was the best person she knew and that she would love her forever! Nothing and no one could ever come between them and no one would ever be able to turn Valaena away from her sister!

And Rhaenyra knew that, even if she was still a baby...
