Chapter Twenty-Eight

a/n: important

AS A SPECIAL TREAT ONCE THIS SPECIFIC BOOK [wink wink] IS COMPLETED, I WILL POST A ONE SHOT WHERE I TURN THE ENDING OF NEVERSEEN INTO AN EVEN BIGGER TEAM-FOSTER KEEFE MOMENT THAN IT ACTUALLY WAS SO PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU'RE INTERESTING REALLY. I'VE ALREADY STARTED ON IT SINCE, SADLY, THIS STORY IS COMING TO AN END. AFTER BABY SENCEN IS BORN I'M GOING TO SKIP THROUGH TIME A LOT.

chapter question: what gender do you think is or want the baby to be?

I might take your answers into consideration... I might just tell my sister to tell me a gender and use that. Just know that if you vote you have a higher chance of getting the baby you want.

Sophie sighed and let her body relax as she laid down on the couch. "I had one bottle of youth and need one more before I go to sleep," Sophie called. "Can you grab one for me?"

Keefe poked his head into the room. "There's only one left and I haven't had my one for today," he told her, frowning.

"Go to Atlantis and grab a bottle then," she stated as if it was obvious. She rested her head on the back of the couch. "I hate this."

He rolled his eyes and walked completely into the room. "Well, you're down to only four months left," he said, grinning.

She sighed. "I'm going to go visit Forkle while you get the bottle. Meet me there," she told him, getting up.

"Are you okay?" he asked, worriedly.

She shrugged. "I'm just really tired," she answered.

"You should go upstairs and sleep, then," he said, walking up to her and grabbing her shoulders gently. "You shouldn't wear yourself out. Bad for both you and the baby."

She shook her head and rolled her eyes. "At this moment no one cares about me. It's the baby, and my only job for the next few months is to keep it alive."

Keefe let out a large sigh and pulled her into a tight hug. "Sophie. You're just as important as this baby, maybe even more. You need to be careful for not only the baby, but also you. You keep yourself alive and everyone around you. Not everything is about our baby. He or she isn't that spoiled."

She smiled softly at that and tilted her head so she could kiss his cheek. "It's just so weird carrying a baby. It's like wherever I go it's like, 'oh look, a baby' and 'hey, I betcha that baby's gonna be cute'." She frowned and pulled out of the embrace. "It's just sometimes it's like, hey, what about the person carrying the baby?"

He rolled his eyes. "If it helps, I care more about you than I do the baby right at this moment," he said. "But, that's probably because I don't know the baby yet."

She shrugged. "You'll love it when it comes out, right?"

He rolled his eyes. "More than I love you," he stated sarcastically. She frowned at that and he sighed. "Yes, Sophie. I'm actually really looking forward to raising kids with the love of my life."

She nodded and then her eyes widened. "Holy crap."

"What?" he asked, looking at her with worry-filled eyes.

A large grin lit up on her face. "I think it kicked."

A similar grin lit up on his face. "Are you sure?"

She nodded as it kicked again. "Yeah. You should feel it," she said.

"Yeah, that's not possible unless you can teleport the baby from inside you to inside me," he said, rolling his eyes.

She rolled her eyes. "Feel it as in, if you put your hand on my stomach you could feel it." She took his hand and placed it on her stomach. After a few seconds the baby kicked once more and Sophie sighed in relief. "This means we're one step closer to getting our baby."

___

"What does it feel like?" Biana asked, frowning.

"What?" Ashla questioned.

"Being pregnant," she said.

"It's not that fun," Sophie responded, shrugging.

"But no matter the struggle of pregnancy hormones and puking and weak bladder... It's all worth it in the end," Ashla said, grinning at Adela who was in her arms. "When your baby comes out it all changes and it's like. . . So amazing that it's possible to love someone this much." She looked at Adela.

"I love you too, Mommy," Adela whispered sleepily.

"Precious," Sophie said, grinning. She looked to Biana. "Why are you asking?"

She shrugged and took a sip of her water. "I'm thinking of having a baby with Dex."

Sophie's eyes widened. "You are? He didn't tell me." She frowned. "I just talked to him yesterday and he didn't mention."

"I said I'm thinking of having a baby with Dex. Dex isn't thinking of having a baby with himself." Biana rolled her eyes. "I don't know." She shrugged. Her eyes widened and she turned to Ashla. "You should get pregnant again and have a boy," she said, grinning.

Ashla raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"Well, if this baby is a boy then you need to have another girl so they can be together with Sophie and Keefe's son when their older. Keefe and Sophie can somewhat join the family bonds, you know?" She looked to Sophie. "You're the only ones not invited to the Vacker family parties."

Sophie rolled her eyes. "What if it's a girl?"

"Then I vote Ashla and Fitz have another baby that's a boy and you two have another girl after that, and those two will be together. Which would be even more awesome because more babies. We love babies."

"Who?" Sophie asked, frowning.

She bit her lip. "The team foster-keefe club," she admitted.

"That still exists?" Sophie's eyes widened.

Biana rolled her eyes. "It split up a little around the time you and Keefe left a few months ago. There's still five members, though. I show up sometimes to humor them. It's basically how the entire Elvin world found out about your pregnancy," she said, shrugging. "I told Kambry and Kambry told Stacy. Stacy told her brother who told other people and so on."

Sophie just shrugged. "It's not like the pregnancy is a secret. I would gladly go out in public and show off my baby bump," she said, rubbing it on instinct. "In fact, how about I take you guys to the Forbidden Cities and we all walk through a human city together. It's kind of like a before, middle and after."

"What do you mean?" Ashla asked, confused.

"Biana is before the planning, I'm when the planning worked, and you're when all the planning is over," she said gesturing to Adela.

Ashla laughed. "Right." She turned to Biana. "You need to have a kid soon so the three can be best friends together," she instructed.

Biana rolled her eyes. "Dex has to agree," she reminded.

"The kid will do anything if it means making you happy," Ashla said with a scoff.

"Ashla. You're the same age as us," Sophie said. "Dex is actually a month older than you, right?"

Ashla frowned. "No one needs to know," she whispered teasingly.

"What? That you're, like, thirty years younger than your husband?" Biana let out a laugh.

"Hey! Three years only. Plus, your bunch of greats grandfather married a woman probably centuries younger than her."

"That was in, like, the dark ages," she responded, glaring.

"Guys, are we going or not? If we are, I have to change into human maternity clothes." Sophie gestured for them all to stand up.

"Sure. I'll just go change Adela and then grab the human stroller Forkle gave you for your future kid," Ashla said, nodding.

"Meet up here in ten minutes," Sophie instructed.

___

"Okay, what do we do first?" Ashla asked, pushing Adela's stroller forward. People looked a the three, four including Adela, curiously. Sophie almost forgot that the elves were genetically made good looking and that all three of them probably looked really attractive and people were curious why three hot girls and a baby were just walking down the street.

Sophie wrapped her arm around her middle, feeling the baby kick. "I want to go get it some human clothes for when we visit Forkle," she said, smiling. "I have human money from Forkle to go get some."

"You don't know the gender yet, though," Biana reminded as Sophie pushed open the doors to a huge mall. She looked at the map for a baby store.

After finding one she looked at Biana. "I don't need to."

"Why?"

"I'll just get one of those good for both gender things. Probably one with a cute saying on it."

"Why do they put words on their clothing? It's so weird," Ashla muttered as they walked into an elevator, since she could use the stroller on an escalator or stairs.

Sophie just sighed. "I guess it makes it more fun, you know? Like if you were sitting in a boring class in school, you could just look at the shirts people were wearing and read them."

"I forgot that classes aren't private between the teacher and student here," Ashla said just as another person walked in before the doors closed and started to lift them.

"Oh my gosh it's moving," Biana said with a small amount of panic.

Sophie just chuckled. "Don't worry, Biana. Practice for when you finally get pregnant and I take you out to get clothes."

"Your pregnant?" The person who had climbed into the elevator asked, staring at her weirdly. "You look eighteen."

Her eyes widened. She had forgotten that after a while elves didn't age. She was sure she looked at least twenty. "Uh, yeah. . . I'm actually twenty-eight," she said. She had stopped counting her age and said the first number that came to her mind. She looked to Biana who rolled her eyes. Sophie decided to go on. "I've actually been married to my husband for over a year."

"Oh my gosh, Sophie, I just realized something," Ashla said, eyes wide.

"What?" Sophie asked, frowning.

"I'm younger than you and I got married and had a kid first," she said, laughing. "Biana is the youngest and so it's correct that she's last for everything."

Sophie rolled her eyes. "I could have been first if I wanted to be first," Sophie retorted.

"You and Keefe didn't get together until at least a month or two after me and Fitz," Ashla reminded.

"Yeah, well. . . That's beside the point." Sophie rolled her eyes. "I just didn't want to get married."

"I don't know why," Biana cut in. "You and Keefe were pretty much a married couple without the married part."

"Exactly. If we were already practically a married couple what's wrong with not doing the married part?" She frowned.

The elevator door opened and the person in the elevator waved good bye to them before stepping over to a different direction. Sophie pulled them towards the baby store. "Well, let's not focus on what ifs. Let's focus on the what is. The baby inside me is one of them and it needs clothes. Let's go." She dragged them inside. Just as she got inside her eyes widened. "Guys," she interrupted them walking over to a rack of clothing.

"What?" Biana asked, frowning at her.

"I have to go back to my house. I forgot I have a thing with Elwin today. I'm going to find out the gender. I never forget things. . . I don't know how I forgot this of all things."

"Wait, you're finding out the gender today and didn't tell us?" Biana gasped.

Sophie rolled her eyes. "How about you guys get some clothing for a baby shower present. You have the crystals to get home, right?" They nodded. She smiled. "I'll go now. Bye guys!"
