Ch. 33

Ginny's head was in her hands as she silently cursed the Healer, who was standing confused amidst the chaos that ensued shortly after his accidental slip-up.

"You're pregnant?!"

"When did this happen?!"

"How far along are you?!"

"Alright, alright, everyone calm down!" George exclaimed, grabbing everyone's attention. "Let's try to not stress out the pregnant lady!"

He put a hand on his sister's shoulder and smiled at her. "Well, I for one am excited to be an uncle! What about you, Ron?"

Everyone looked over at Ron, who was leaning against the wall on the other side of the room staring at the floor with wide eyes. "Merlin, I'm going to be an uncle."

Harry was surprisingly silent next to him and was avoiding everyone's eyes, which both Hermione and Ginny noticed. Hermione watched him carefully for a few moments before her attention was caught by Ginny's mother.

"Ginny, you're just a child!" Molly exclaimed.

"We're going to need a few more Calming Draughts; at least three," Arthur said to the Healer, who nodded and immediately rushed out of the room.

"Mum, I'm not a child anymore," Ginny said exasperatedly.

"You're still only eighteen, Ginny," Arthur said quietly. "I know you're an adult technically, but are you sure you're ready for this?"

"Yes, I'm absolutely sure," Ginny answered sternly.

Molly stuttered slightly before saying, "But you aren't even married yet!"

Grimacing, Ginny sighed and pulled the two wedding bands out of her pocket. "Actually..."

"What?!"

She cringed at her mother's sudden outburst but handed Blaise's ring to him and slipping her own onto her finger. "We got married almost two weeks ago."

"But you said that you were getting married next weekend..." Molly said, confused. "And how couldn't you invite us?"

The hurt in her mother's voice affected her a lot more than she thought it would, and the words were hard to find. Blaise reached down and took her hand, answering for her. "Ginny made the decision to get married very quickly and without talking to anyone about it. We wanted to have a small ceremony with the four of us," He gestured towards himself, Ginny, Draco, and Hermione, "And when everything with the Death Eaters had blown over, we were going to have the formal ceremony with all of you."

"Did you do this because you were pregnant?" Molly asked quickly, almost accusingly.

"Mum!" Ginny exclaimed. "Of course not! I got married because I almost died!"

There was an uncomfortable silence and then the Healer returned with more bottles of the Calming Draught. Ron took one, and Arthur practically forced one into his wife's hands. After placing the remaining bottle on the bedside table, the Healer cleared his throat awkwardly and nodded to Ginny.

"My apologies, I was under the impression you had just told them of the good news," He stated quietly.

Ginny waved him off. "It's alright, they were going to find out eventually, I guess."

Molly had noticeably relaxed after taking the draught and she was even smiling slightly. "Ginny, are you sure you're ready for all of this? Having a child is a big step."

"Mum, I'm already married and pregnant," Ginny stated, pulling her legs up underneath her. "It's happening whether I'm ready or not."

Molly's smile widened and she nudged her husband. "Grandparents! Arthur, we're going to be grandparents!"

"It's about time you were excited," George said happily from behind Ginny. "Grandparents are supposed to be excited, after all! And she's the first one of us to give you a grandchild!"

Ginny laughed and Blaise could feel her happiness again as the mood in the room lifted. Hermione was smiling too, but her smile faltered slightly when she saw Harry move away from Ron and say, "I'm going to get some tea, does anyone want anything?"

There was a murmur around the room as everyone decided that they wanted some, and Harry nodded. Hermione stood up carefully from her chair and said, "I'll come help."

Draco reached out and took her hand, giving her a worried look. "Are you sure you should be moving that much right now?"

"Draco, we're just going up to the next floor, and I'll be with Harry," Hermione said gently. "I'll be okay. Besides, we won't know how much curse damage I have unless I move, right?"

He frowned but squeezed her hand before releasing it. "Just be careful, okay?"

"I'll take care of her, don't worry," Harry said confidently.

Draco nodded at him and Hermione crossed the room, smiling at Harry as they left the room. Ginny watched them leave, a sudden feeling of guilt washing over her which didn't go unnoticed by Blaise. He glanced down at her and frowned, wondering why she was feeling guilty about it, but with Molly excitedly starting to chatter about her future grandchild, he didn't give it another thought.

Hermione and Harry walked in silence down the hallway, moving out of the way of Healers rushing by every so often. After a few minutes of walking, she realized that he was walking slower than normal to the elevators, giving her a nervous glance every now and then.

"Harry, I'm alright," She said finally, laughing slightly. "I haven't had a dizzy spell in a while."

"Still," He said quietly. "I know you heal faster than normal now, but you have a lot to heal from."

"Says the man who died and came back to life," Hermione retorted.

He grinned slightly at that and they entered one of the elevators, being the only ones in it. After the door closed, Hermione turned to him.

"What's going on?" She asked quietly.

Harry didn't look at her, simply shrugged. "Just happy she's alright."

Hermione raised an eyebrow skeptically. "I know you better than that."

He sighed deeply. "I really am happy she's alright. But this...was all just very sudden. Especially after worrying that she was dead."

Frowning, Hermione sighed as the doors opened and they stepped out, slowly making their way to the tearoom. She wasn't really sure of what to say, but Harry beat her to it.

"I'm happy for her, I really am," He started quietly. "I've moved on for the most part, mainly because I know I messed it up royally with her and I'm not going to get her back, and he's her soulmate basically. I just wonder sometimes how it would be if things had turned out differently."

"You can't do that to yourself," Hermione said, putting a hand on his arm. "That's just going to make everything worse."

"I know," He sighed. "I thought I was past it all but her being kidnapped really just reminded me that I still care a great deal for her, and I just want her to be happy."

"Apart from everything that's happened, she is happy," Hermione said. "And I know she's going to want you to see that. She wants you to be happy too."

Harry nodded and looked down at the ground. "I'll get past this. It gets better every day."

He smiled at her then and nudged her slightly. "Come on, let's get everyone's tea and go back before Draco comes hunting for you."

She smiled and shook her head, groaning as the room suddenly started to spin. She grabbed the counter and took a few deep breaths as Harry asked, "Hermione? Should I get a Healer?"

"No," She answered, closing her eyes. "Just give me a second."

"Why don't I take you to a chair?" He offered, gently grabbing her arm and draping it over his shoulders so he could support her.

They ignored the stares and whispers as he took her to a table away from everyone else, sitting across from her and frowning. She leaned forward and rested her head in her arms, still breathing deeply.

"How serious is the damage?" He asked quietly.

"I don't know," She said in a muffled voice. "I've been too scared to have them do another evaluation."

"Have you been honest with them about the frequency of the dizzy spells?" Harry asked, looking around the room and glaring at anyone who was staring at them.

"It's hard to lie when your fiancé tells them everything," She sighed, propping her head up slightly.

He grimaced, looking over her face. "At least your cuts are looking better."

She didn't answer, finally opening her eyes. The dizzy spell was starting to fade, but she felt very weak from the episode.

"Oh, speaking of your fiancé..."

Right after Harry said this, Draco appeared by her side, putting a hand on her back. "Love, are you alright?"

"I'm fine," She waved him off. "Just a small dizzy spell."

He looked over at Harry skeptically. "Small?"

"I haven't seen any of her other ones so I'm not sure, but we've only been sitting for about a minute," Harry answered.

Hermione gave him a small glare but sat up, taking in a few more deep breaths. "I'll be fine. Let's get the tea."

"We'll get the tea," Draco insisted, gesturing between him and Harry. "You, stay here and rest."

She started to protest but he silenced her with a look, walking away towards the counter with Harry. After they placed the orders and were waiting, Draco stuffed his hands into the pockets of his dark jeans and looked at Hermione.

"I want you to keep an eye on her at work after she's released," Draco said quietly. "I know she won't be out for a few more days at least, but she's going to want to go right back to work and I don't think I can stop her."

Harry nodded. "I understand. I'll make sure she stays alright. And if she has to take potions, I'll make sure she takes them."

"You two realize I can still hear you, right?"

They both groaned and Draco leaned over to say to her, "It's just until you stop having dizzy spells. If you are more open with the Healers about them, maybe they'll be able to make them stop quicker so Harry won't have to keep an eye on you."

Hermione opened and closed her mouth, unable to find an argument. Draco silently relished the fact that he was able to stump her, which was rare for anyone to do. She finally scoffed and turned away, crossing her arms against her chest in frustration.

Draco shook his head and Harry grinned slightly. The teas were ready after a few minutes and the three of them left the tea shop, walking back to the elevators in a comfortable silence. Draco had a hand wrapped loosely around Hermione's waist, though he didn't let on that it was there mainly to catch her if she had another spell.

Hermione was relieved to hear laughter from the room as they approached the door, and she smiled as they entered the room. Everyone was crowded around Ginny now who had returned to the bed and the Healer was smiling as he looked at the three of them.

"Oh good, we were waiting on you to come back so everyone could hear the heartbeat again," He announced.

"Oh, yes!" Hermione quickly made her way to the bed and sat down at the foot of it while Harry and Draco distributed the teas.

Ginny excitedly pulled her shirt up to reveal her stomach, and Molly bounced up and down in her seat. Hermione was happy to see that she was finally excited about the idea of being a grandmother, and Ron and George were both grinning from ear to ear while Arthur stood behind his wife, also smiling happily.

The Healer put the tip of his wand just underneath Ginny's naval and everyone fell silent. Ginny was practically holding her breath, but her face lit up as the room filled with the sound of a heartbeat.

"That's my grandchild!" Molly exclaimed excitedly before looking at the Healer. "When do we get to find out the gender?"

"In about five to six weeks," The Healer said, smiling.

"I hope it's a boy," George said as he nudged Ginny. "Could use another little troublemaker running around! Dibs on being babysitter!"

Ginny laughed and shook her head. "George, if you were the babysitter that child is going to grow up exploding things too!"

"All the more reason!" He grinned.

The Healer moved his wand slightly and everyone fell silent as another heartbeat was heard in addition to the first one. Ginny's eyes went wide and her face went pale as Blaise's mouth dropped open.

"Is....is that...?" He stuttered.

"Well,  congratulations!"  The  Healer  laughed.  "It  seems  as  though  you  are  having  twins!"
