Ch. 22

A sudden nearly-blinding light woke Hermione abruptly, and she jumped when she saw a silvery figure moving quickly around the room. It took her a few moments to realize that it was a Patronus, but she was thoroughly confused when she realized it was an otter.

"I don't remember casting you..." She said in a confused tone, rubbing her eyes as best she could to clear the sleep from them.

The otter scurried up to her and reared up on its hind legs, looking at her and sniffing the air.

"Hermione."

She froze and her lower jaw dropped open, happiness and relief filling her chest as she recognized Draco's voice.

"I hope this gets to you alright; admittedly, this is the second Patronus I've ever made."

Tears of happiness slowly rolled down her cheeks as she grinned from ear to ear, waiting for the rest of his message.

"Hermione, we're going to find you. We're going to bring both you and Ginny home. You don't know how much I want you back in my arms. We'll find you soon, I promise." There was another slight pause and then the message continued. "I love you, Hermione. Stay strong for me, and for Ginny. There's so much more I want to tell you, but I'll wait until I have you back with me. And I promise, the first thing we're doing is going on a vacation, just the two of us. So start thinking of where you want to go because I'll be expecting you to tell me when we come get you. I love you."

She laughed at that, nodding at the otter and watching it as it scampered off, fading away into the darkness. Hermione was unable to stop smiling, trying to wipe the tears away on her arm. After she regained her composure, she reached out mentally to Ginny.

I thought you fell asleep?

Ginny, Draco sent me a Patronus!

Really? What did he say?! And I thought he couldn't cast one!

I didn't think he could either but it was right there in front of me! He said that they are looking for us and they're going to bring us home soon!

Did Blaise say anything at all?

I don't think so, I didn't hear him. Maybe he'll learn how to cast a Patronus soon and send you one!

I hope so...I wonder what his is?

Well, Draco's was an otter.

Isn't...isn't yours an otter too?

Yes, his was slightly larger though. Maybe the boys' Patronuses match ours since we are their mates.

Well if Blaise's Patronus is a stallion then we'll know for sure.

Hermione sighed and started to stand up, groaning at the soreness of her legs and arms from not moving. Her arms immediately grew warmer as the blood rushed into them. How long was I asleep for?

It's been a few hours.

Why are you still awake? Go to sleep, Ginny.

It's not like I didn't try. Hermione didn't miss the frustration in her friend's tone, which only became more prominent as Ginny continued. And it's hard to sleep when you're worried Death Eaters are going to murder you in your sleep.

I don't think they're going to kill us, Gin.

What makes you say that?

Well for one, if they were trying to kill us they would have by now. But they're keeping us alive for some reason.

Maybe they just want to prolong our deaths? Remember they're sadistic people, Hermione.

Yes, I'm very well aware of that. But there has to be a reason behind it.

How are we going to figure it out?

Hermione chewed on the inside of her cheek as she pondered quickly. Maybe I can get them talking somehow when they're torturing me. Use a little reverse psychology on them.

Not entirely sure what that is but if you think it will work...

It should. And I think you would like psychology, you should look into it when we get out of here.

If we get out of here...

Ginny, you can't think like that. We will get out of here. Blaise and Draco are searching for us, and I seriously doubt that they are doing it on their own.

You think they got Harry and Ron to help?

Them and the rest of the Aurors.

You really think Ron and Harry are helping?

Why wouldn't they? Ron is your brother, and Harry is my best friend. They aren't going to just leave us here to rot.

I know but...Ron hasn't really been talking to me lately.

He's been on a few missions and probably under a lot of stress. have you tried reaching out to him?

Not really, I don't want to make his temper any worse. He already doesn't like that I'm with Blaise...

He'll have to come around to it. The rest of your family has, and you saw how unhappy your mother was originally when she found out who we were with.

Yes, but my mother is much more forgiving than Ron.

True. But either way, you know he would come look for you.

Maybe, yeah. I wonder how the four of them would be getting along if they all were working together.

Hermione chuckled at that thought. Well, considering past experiences, they're probably bickering the entire way and poor Harry is having to play peace-keeper.

He was always good at that.

The two girls fell into silence and Hermione stretched her limbs out as best she could. How are you feeling?

You mean besides terrified and anxious?

Yeah, with the baby and all. Do you feel any different?

Oh. Ginny fell silent while she thought it all over. I'm not sure. I mean, it's been something that I've known for over a week now, and while it's still kind of a shock, I've gotten used to it. I'm not showing yet or anything so it's not like I won't be able to hide it for a little while longer.

I take it you don't want to immediately tell your family?

'Mione, they don't even know I'm married yet. Well, hopefully they don't. I don't trust Ron to not open his fat mouth.

I think if Molly knew her only daughter and new grandchild were in danger, she'd get to us faster than Blaise and Draco would.

Hermione heard Ginny laugh through the walls. Yeah, you're probably right. Mum's always been pushing Bill and Fleur for a grandchild, but I don't think Fleur's quite ready yet. She'll absolutely flip when I tell her.

Do you think you should tell her you're married first?

Ugh, didn't think of that. She's going to be so upset though that she wasn't there for the wedding.

Maybe we can have your formal wedding right after all this, so as not to raise suspicion? I'm sure Blaise wouldn't say no to that.

What about your wedding though? Blaise and I are already married, it's your turn.

Honestly, I'm not in a rush to get married and Draco knows this. That, and his father is still currently planning out every detail because he wants everything to be perfect.

Geez, you'd think it was him getting married.

Hermione laughed quietly to herself and shifted her weight slightly. She knew the only reason she was talking about weddings was to distract Ginny and herself from their current situation, and to keep up hope that they were going to get out of there alive. It was all they could do at that point to not go insane.

Where do you think you'll want to have the wedding, Gin?

I'm not sure...maybe at our manor. I think Blaise would like that. We'd have to have it soon before I start showing though.

I doubt that's going to be a problem. Just get Lucius to help you plan it out. Between him and Blaise, they'll have it planned out within a week

Hah, probably. I'm not sure though that I'd want your father-in-law to plan the wedding though. He seems to be going a little crazy with the planning of yours.

True. I'm sure Blaise knows someone who would be a good wedding planner then. And it's not like you haven't been planning this out already so no one should be shocked at the suddenness of it.

I think they still will be; we didn't even have a date set.

Well you can always say that life is short and you at least want to be married the next time you're kidnapped.

Ginny laughed again. Yeah, that could work.

They fell into silence again, and Hermione walked around slightly. Well, as much as she could with her arms chained to the wall. It wasn't a wide area, but she was able to at least take a couple steps back and forth.

I'm so tired...I don't think I'll be able to sleep though.

Why don't you try though? At least get a few hours, it helped me a bit.

I might try, but not sure how effective it'll be.

I know. If I hear someone coming though I'll be sure to wake you up.

Thanks, 'Mione.

Ginny slipped away from the conversation and sighed as she leaned her head against the wall, closing her eyes. The cool stone felt good against her skin, which she was thankful for since she seemed to have a constant fever due to the pregnancy.

She sighed again and stretched her limbs, groaning slightly at the aching. What she wouldn't give to be in her bed right now with Blaise. Merlin, what was she going to tell Blaise about their baby? Would they even still have a baby after this?

Shaking her head quickly, she frowned at herself. Come on, Ginny, don't think like that. Of course you're going to still have your baby. And Blaise is going to be ecstatic. You'll see.

Leaning her head back against the stone again, she pulled her knees up to her chest and attempted to get comfortable. At this point, sleeping in the locker room at the training stadium was easier. She would never complain about napping in that locker room again.

Merlin, she'd have to take off from quidditch while she was pregnant. What would her quidditch captain think? Of course, Gwenog would be happy in general about the baby but unhappy that she'd be losing her star chaser for probably an entire season. Maybe she could get away with playing until she started showing.

After groaning she sighed and imagined what the baby would look like. Their baby. She hoped for a little girl, one with darker skin and the Weasley freckles. Damn, she'd probably have the Weasley temper too. It would be worth it though, Ginny decided. Or maybe it would be a boy, one that looked exactly like Blaise. She would love that; of course she would love the baby regardless, but she knew Blaise would love a little boy to carry on the Zabini name. Maybe this baby would cause Blaise's mother, Aster, to finally accept her being Blaise's mate.

Ginny scoffed slightly to herself. That woman was more stubborn than Ron. But maybe Blaise giving her a grandchild would soften the proud woman up. After all, the Malfoys changed when they realized Hermione was Draco's mate; why couldn't Aster change as well?

The  thought  made  her  smile,  and  she  soon  was  able  to  fall  asleep  thinking  of  being  reunited  with  her  Veela  again,  and  telling  him  that  their  family  was  expanding.
