Ch. 2

She grinned when she saw Ginny sitting on her couch as she stepped out of the fireplace, instantly noticing the two wine glasses in the red head's hands.

"Goodness, I could get used to this. It's almost like I'm marrying you instead of Draco," Hermione laughed, setting her bag down and taking the glass Ginny offered. "It's definitely nice coming home to a glass of wine."

"Psh, you know we'd divorce quickly," Ginny grinned. "Between your inability to give control to anyone except Draco and my hotheadedness, we would be arguing all the time."

"I suppose you're right," Hermione sighed dramatically. "Though I've given you control of my hair and makeup on multiple occasions so you can't deny I'm getting better."

"True," Ginny shrugged as they walked into Hermione's kitchen. "Maybe we'd work out. After all, we'll be living next to each other for the rest of our lives; we might as well be married. And maybe then we can just have affairs with Draco and Blaise. The Prophet would love that."

Hermione laughed at that and as she pulled off her jacket, she asked, "How was practice?"

Ginny pulled herself up onto the counter top and groaned slightly. "Brutal. I was really stiff from the run even after stretching. My thighs hate me right now since I had to stay on a broom for hours."

"I'm sure Blaise can help you stretch them out later," Hermione said with a sly grin.

"Oh he will be," Ginny responded, grinning as well before looking at the kitchen door. "Speaking of, do you know when they're going to be getting off work?"

Hermione looked up at the large clock and said, "Should be any minute now. Does Blaise know you're over here?"

"I left a note on the bed for him." She took a sip of her wine and nodded to Hermione. "How was work?"

"Enh, same as it has been," Hermione sighed as she leaned against the large island in the middle of the kitchen. "I saw Harry this morning."

Ginny stiffened slightly and then relaxed. "How's he doing?"

"He's stressed out," Hermione said quietly. "Apparently there are still some high-profile Death Eaters missing, and they're having problems tracking them down."

The red head groaned. "Of course there are Death Eaters missing."

"I know," Hermione sighed. "He tried to recruit me into being an Auror to help them out since they're having problems."

"I'm honestly surprised you didn't go for that in the first place," Ginny said, taking another drink. "I know you said you no longer want to go hunting for dark magic, but at the same time you're amazing at it."

"I burnt myself out chasing horcruxes," Hermione answered with a wave of her hand. "I told him I'm willing to help if they absolutely can't figure something out, but that I'm not joining the Auror team."

"That's fair," Ginny shrugged.

They were interrupted by the popping noise of Draco apparating into the living room and then walking into the kitchen. He smiled when he saw Hermione and immediately went to her, pulling her in and pressing a kiss to her temple.

"Hello, love," He said with a smile. Then he looked up at Ginny and said, "I should've known you'd be over. I'm surprised though that it's been two days since you've been here."

"Only because we had you two over for dinner at our manor last night," Ginny grinned. "I'm honestly surprised that you and Blaise didn't build the manors side by side with a covered walkway connecting them."

"Trust me, we considered it," He laughed, walking over to give her a hug. "How are you doing?"

"Pretty good, just sore," She said, hugging around his neck with her free arm.

"Quidditch does that," Draco remarked, pulling back and setting his things down. "Blaise should be over here momentarily, he left shortly before I did."

Ginny nodded and then looked at Hermione. "Why don't you go get changed? I'm sure you're dying to get out of those heels."

"You know me so well," Hermione said and Ginny sent off an air kiss as she left the kitchen.

Draco watched Hermione leave and sighed, leaning against the counter and loosening his tie. "So where is your next game? My parents wanted me to get that information from you."

"We're playing in Germany next," Ginny said. "I'm actually pretty excited; apparently you can see Neuschwanstein castle from the stadium."

"Oh that is exciting!" Draco grinned. "I'll let them know. They've actually been looking at properties in Germany."

"I'm surprised they don't have one there already," Ginny said with a laugh.

He shrugged and poured himself a glass of firewhiskey. "I'm somewhat surprised as well. I know our family did own a property there at one point, but I have no idea what happened to it."

Blaise appeared in the doorway suddenly while grumbling, "You people are stealing my mate."

Ginny laughed as he went to her, putting his hands on her hips as she wrapped hers around his neck. "Be nice, love. If Hermione was going to steal me, she would've done it already."

Draco laughed while Blaise scowled at her. She grinned and pressed a kiss to his lips, feeling him calm down almost immediately.

"Don't worry, I'm all yours," She reminded him.

"You better be," Blaise muttered, giving her another kiss before smiling. "I missed you."

"You saw me this morning!" She laughed.

"That doesn't mean I can't miss you," He argued as he pulled away slightly.

"Need I remind you this is my kitchen?" Draco interrupted suddenly. "If you guys want to be cute, go do it in your own kitchen."

"Draco, be nice," Hermione said as she reappeared next to him, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

"I am being nice, dear," He said simply, smiling at her returning to the kitchen.

Hermione rolled her eyes as she walked past him and went to Blaise, who wrapped an arm around her in a brotherly half-hug and said, "He's threatening to kick us out, Hermione."

She laughed and returned his hug. "Don't worry, you two aren't going anywhere."

Blaise grinned and then felt a sudden surge of jealousy. He turned to see Ginny trying to hide a scowl and he immediately dropped his arm from around Hermione and went back to his mate, standing next to her and draping an arm over one her thighs.

Ginny avoided his gaze, wondering where the sudden jealousy came from. After all, it was just a friendly hug, on the same level as the hug Draco had given her minutes earlier. She shook her head and took another drink of her wine.

"Ginny, did you bring your wedding plans?" Hermione asked, grabbing her own wine glass.

"Oh yeah!" Ginny said, perking up and gesturing towards the door. "It's in my bag in the living room."

"You brought your bag?" Draco asked, raising an eyebrow. "Planning on spending the night?"

Ginny scrunched her nose playfully at him. "No, but I wanted to talk to Hermione about wedding stuff and that was the only bag I had that the plans would fit in."

"That's surprising," Draco muttered.

"I don't have that many bags," Ginny said as she rolled her eyes. "Plus we don't usually stay the night unless Blaise or I get too drunk."

"Considering most of the nights you and Hermione spend together end in two or three bottles of wine, I'd say you're probably spending the night," Blaise said, nudging his mate playfully.

She scowled at him. "We only drink that much on weekends, and it's not our fault the Veela genes gives us a higher tolerance."

Blaise raised his hands in defeat and Hermione grinned at her friend. "Come on, let's go talk in the living room."

Ginny hopped off the counter and pressed a kiss to Blaise's cheek before following Hermione out of the kitchen.

"Alright," Ginny said as she sat down on the plush black couch next to Hermione. "So I think I just want to go over bridesmaid dresses with you tonight."

Hermione smiled as Ginny levitated her bag to her, dropping it onto the floor and pulling out a notebook filled with pictures and ideas.

"I've been a little torn up between two of them," Ginny admitted, flipping pages.

"That's alright, it's good to have choices," Hermione said. "Oh, have you two decided on a date yet?"

"No, not yet" Ginny sighed in response. "We've at least narrowed it down to this fall, but still no official date."

Hermione shrugged. "There's still time."

Ginny found the page she was looking for and pulled out two pictures of silver bridesmaid dresses, handing them to Hermione. "These are the two I'm stuck between. I really like both of them and can't decide."

Hermione looked between the two pictures, comparing them. The first was of a long, flowy dress that was slightly form-fitting and was more of a matte grey than silver. The front had a deep v-neck that stopped right beneath the bust and the back had a cowl that scooped about to the top of the hips. The second dress was short and form-fitting, almost more of a cocktail dress. It stopped just above the knees and looked to be made of satin with a boatneck and sleeves that stopped right above the elbow.

"I can see why you're having a hard time," Hermione said. "These are both beautiful."

"Is there one you like better?" Ginny asked, looking up at her friend. "Since you're wearing the dress, after all."

Hermione laughed. "I'm not sure. I think I would need to try them on to see."

"Well, I'm planning on going dress shopping in the next couple of weeks," Ginny said. "Maybe we can try the bridesmaid dresses on that same weekend and get an idea."

"That sounds good," Hermione nodded. "Do you have other girls you want as bridesmaids?"

"I thought about having Fleur but I'm not as close to her as I am to you," Ginny said as she shook her head. "I'm pretty sure it'll just be you."

Hermione smiled. "Well, less opinions for you to have to deal with."

Ginny laughed. "Very true!"

Hermione continued looking between the two dresses, weighing the pros and cons. "I think, honestly, it may be easier for me to move around in the short dress, and the front isn't as low as it is on the long dress."

"I really like the back of the long dress though," Ginny said.

"Would you rather have me wear that one then?" Hermione asked, looking at Ginny.

"I don't know," Ginny answered, her brow furrowing slightly in frustration. "Ignoring what you think would be easier to wear, which one do you want to wear?"

"I really have no idea, Ginny," Hermione said, also growing frustrated. "It's your wedding, I will wear whatever dress you want me to wear."

"Yeah, but you're the one wearing it so I want your opinion!" Ginny snapped loudly.

Hermione stared at Ginny who looked just as shocked at her own outburst. The red head took a deep breath and looked away. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you, 'Mione."

"Are you okay?" Hermione asked quietly. "You seem really stressed out."

Ginny nodded. "I am a bit."

Hermione frowned. "Why don't we go ahead and put off this decision until you see both dresses on me and I figure out which one feels better?"

Ginny nodded again and took a drink of her wine. "That sounds good."

"Do we need to plan a spa trip for the both of you?"

The girls whipped their heads around to see their Veelas in the doorway of the living room, watching them carefully. Draco was obviously tense, trying to hold himself back after hearing Ginny snap at his mate.

"What makes you ask that?" Ginny asked.

"Do you forget we can feel your emotions?" Blaise asked in return. "Not to mention we both heard you snap at Hermione."

"We're fine," Hermione answered quickly. "Wedding planning can get stressful; heads butt all the time."

"Maybe so," Draco started as he gestured between the two of them. "But it's odd hearing the two of you butt heads."

Ginny sighed. "I already apologized for snapping at her."

"And I've already forgiven you," Hermione said, turning to her friend and smiling. "Don't worry, I'm not mad."

Ginny smiled in return and gave her friend a side hug. "We can put this off for a bit. I don't want to snap at you again."

Hermione  nodded  and  the  girls  stood  up,  leaving  behind  Ginny's  plans  and  walking  into  the  kitchen.  Blaise  kept  a  close  watch  on  Ginny,  wondering  why  she  had  snapped  at  Hermione.  The  two  girls  acted  as  if  nothing  had  happened  though,  and  they  continued  to  laugh  and  talk  with  each  other  for  the  rest  of  the  night,  barely  noticing  the  two  Veelas  watching  them.
