The Wedding Day
Jungkook's & Somi's Appa, who had become like a father to me, gently linked my arm through his and patted my hand in a comforting way. His touch was soothing, but I couldn't help the sharp glance I gave him, searching his face for reassurance.
"What? Do I look nervous?" I whispered, my voice barely audible.
He smiled softly, a twinkle in his eye despite his composed expression. "A little."
"I don't want to look nervous," I muttered, more to myself than to him.
His eyes sparkled with quiet amusement, though his lips remained still. "Just take a deep breath."
We were standing just out of sight, behind the large double doors that would soon open onto the red-carpeted aisle of the church. My bridesmaids were already making their way up, and I knew it would soon be my turn. The reality of the moment hit me, making it hard to believe that our wedding day had arrived so quickly. Memories of Somi showing up at my door with bridal magazines flashed through my mind. Though I'd had doubts, I'd always managed to push them aside, but now, standing at the bottom of the aisle, panic was creeping in.
*Deep breaths,* I reminded myself.
I couldn't afford to have a panic attack now. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Jungkook, but the fear of somehow ruining everything weighed heavily on me. Even after proving to myself that I was capable of being in a loving, committed relationship, the fear of hurting him lingered."What if I mess this up?" I murmured, my voice laced with anxiety.
Appa squeezed my hand gently, his grip offering comfort. "It's not going to be perfect because no marriage is. You'll fight, you'll clash, and you might even say things you don't mean. But when you love someone, these things happen. The good you two will share will always outweigh the bad," he assured me, his voice warm and steady. "And Jungkook has already proven there's not much you can do to chase him off."
A small smile tugged at my lips. "True." I took a deep, shuddering breath. "Thanks."
"You're welcome. Now, let's do this," he said, his voice filled with gentle encouragement.
The music from the guitarist and violinist swelled as the double doors swung open, revealing the church filled with guests. The beautiful instrumental version of "You Do Something to Me" sent shivers up my neck. As we stepped onto the carpeted aisle, the sight of flowers, the smiling faces of guests, and the approving looks of curiosity overwhelmed me.
Appa's hand tightened around mine, and I clutched my bouquet of white lilies and champagne gold reeds. Slowly, my focus returned, and my eyes found my bridesmaids—Somi, Hanna, Rai, and Lily—standing gracefully in their champagne-colored dresses. Somi's eyes were glistening with tears, her emotions mirroring my own. Although we hadn't divided the room into bride and groom sides, I felt the presence of my colleagues from the Club and the friends of Jungkook and the Jeon family.
My gaze finally found Jungkook standing at the altar, and my heart nearly stopped. The love in his eyes was so intense that it was almost overwhelming, making my steps falter. I leaned more heavily on Appa as I tried to compose myself, feeling the weight of the moment in every step.
My wedding dress was simple yet elegant. The strapless gown featured a heart-shaped neckline, with crystal beading and lace adorning the ivory bodice. The finest white silk chiffon draped tightly across my waist, and from my hips, layers of silver-threaded chiffon flowed to the floor. The look on Jungkook's face told me he loved the dress, and that thought alone gave me strength.
Still trembling, I kissed Appa on the cheek as we reached the altar, deeply grateful that he had walked me down the aisle in my father's absence. My voice caught in my throat as I thanked him, noticing the tears that shimmered in his eyes. He handed me over to Jungkook with a tender smile.
Instead of turning to face the minister, Jungkook pulled me close to his side, his eyes locked onto mine with a fierce intensity. His head lowered, and I felt the warmth of his breath as he whispered in my ear, "You look stunning, sweetheart, but take deep breaths. This is just you and me."
I let out a shaky laugh. "Tell that to the hundred people sitting behind us."
He chuckled softly, pressing a quick, amused kiss to my lips. When he pulled back, his expression was reassuring as he murmured, "I love you, you love me, our family loves us, and they're right here beside us. Nothing else matters. So no fears for the future, no fear that you'll mess it up beyond repair. Life isn't perfect, we aren't perfect, but I'm telling you now, Y/N, we're indestructible. Stop shaking and just marry me."
I leaned into him, brushing my lips against his. "You got it."
The minister cleared his throat, pulling us back into the moment. The guests behind us chuckled softly, and the music came to a stop.
This was it. The minister's voice filled the hushed church as he began the ceremony. My heart raced, but with Jungkook's hand in mine and his unwavering gaze, I felt grounded.
As we exchanged our vows, our promises to each other filled the air with raw emotion.
Jungkook's voice wavered slightly as he looked into my eyes, his love pouring through his words, "Y/N, from the moment we met, you changed my world. You've been my rock, my confidante, and my greatest supporter. I promise to cherish you, to uplift you in times of doubt, and to love you fiercely every single day, for the rest of our lives."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I took my turn to speak, "Jungkook, you are my heart's safe haven. You've shown me what true love means, and I am forever grateful for the way you've transformed my life. I promise to stand by your side, to laugh with you in joy, and to hold you close through any challenges that come our way. My love for you knows no bounds, and I can't wait to create a future together that's even more beautiful than our dreams."
The sincerity in our voices resonated in the chapel, and I could see tears glistening in Jungkook's eyes. The room was filled with the palpable intensity of our feelings, and it was as if time stood still in that moment.
As the ceremony continued, I couldn't help but steal glances at Jungkook, the man I was about to become one with in every sense. The exchange of rings felt like sealing our promises with an unbreakable bond, a tangible symbol of our commitment to each other.
When the minister pronounced us husband and wife, a surge of emotion swept through me, and I leaned in to kiss Jungkook, sealing our marriage with a deep, passionate kiss that spoke volumes of our love.
