Chapter 13

Callie was now at the club, dancing the night away, grinding with everyone in her group. They soon collapsed on the couches, sweating and laughing. Callie sat in between Veronica and Reggie, he put his feet on the table in front of them. Veronica went to go take a sip of her drink.

"Mmm-mm, girl. You better hydrate,'" Josie laughed.

"You practically left your body on the dance floor, " Callie added.

" I wish Callie, I wish I could leave my body sometimes," Veronica admitted. " Leave Riverdale, leave everything

" Is any of this helping?" Kevin asked. " Going out, going Black Swan any of it?"  Everyone looked at Veronica as she set her drink down.

" When my dad got arrested, the police, the lawyers, the judge, the courts, they took everything from us," Veronica explained. " Our houses, our cars, our club memberships, our yacht, even, I'm not kidding the clothes off our backs." Reggie and Callie looked at each other before looking back at Veronica. " Anyway, my mom sat me down on the edge of my canopy bed and she told me not to cry. Because there was one thing in this world that no one could ever take from me. Not ever?"

"Your trust fund?" Reggie asked.

"My name, Reggie," Veronica stated with attitude. " Which after telling me no one would ever take it, that is exactly what she did. Like it meant nothing. Like it was nothing. Like I was nothing." She then grabbed her drink once more and took a sip. Callie got up.

"Where are you going?" Josie asked.

"If I want more fluids, I got to empty some," Callie answered.

"I am coming too," Josie said.

"Same," Veronica spoke, the three girls stood up.

" We will be here when you get back," Reggie said.

"I don't doubt it," Callie smiled at him. The three made their way into the bathroom, while in there, the girls also fixed their make up.

"You know Veronica, people will take your name," Callie stated.

"Callie," Josie warned her.

"What? " Callie asked. " When I and Reggie go out to a fancy restaurant people always take our name."

"She's not wrong," Veronica laughed.

"And maybe one day, someone will trade that last part of their name," Callie suggested.

"But for now I will be a Lodge," Veronica smiled bigger. " Somehow that made me feel better."

"Good, cause if it didn't," Josie began. " I would be so mad at you Callie."

"So, how are you?" Veronica asked. " You and Reggie?"

"Really good," Callie answered. " Even though people did not think we would last two days."

" How long have you two been together?" Josie asked as they made their way back out.

" About eight months now," Callie answered. " After the Variety Show, he told me that he loved me."

"Aweeee," the girls cooed.

"He also said that we should name one of our sons Archie, but I said we can use that as a middle name." When they got back to the guys, they sat in the exact same spots. Callie and Reggie were in the middle of taking selfies when one of the people that worked there came over to them.

" I'm sorry, Ms Lodge, but your card's been declined," the man informed her.

"Really?" Veronica asked. " And let me guess, it's been reported stolen."

" It has, in fact," the guy admitted. " We're supposed to call the cops."

"Yeah sure call the cops," Reggie encouraged.

" We'll be happy to tell them how old we are," Callie added.

" Or we could call my mom, the mayor," Josie suggested.

"This should cover it," Veronica said as she stood up and handed the guy cash. They exchanged the card for the money, the guy walked away in annoyance.

"Veronica, did your mom cut you off?" Kevin questioned.

"She did," Veronica answered with a smile.

" And that's a good thing?" Reggie asked.

"Oh, Reggie," Veronica began. " This is how we Lodge women roll". She started to put on her coat. " We feint, we parry, we approach, we retreat. We're like a cobra and a mongoose dancing. she blinked, which means, I suspect, that Hermione Lodge is ready to negotiate."

*******

Reggie was driving everyone home, they had already dropped off the other three.

"Crash at my place tonight," Reggie suggested as he made way for his house.

"Okay," Callie answered, as she pulled out her phone to inform her dad.

"Did you have fun?" Reggie asked

"I had a blast," Callie answered. Reggie then pulled to the side and stopped the car. " What is it, Reggie?"

"I've been thinking," Reggie began, Callie's heart began to sink. " What if we end up like Polly and Jason?"

"You mean pregnant and dead?" Callie questioned.

"Yes," Reggie answered. " What happens if come to a problem like that?"

"We will try our best to make sure we both live," Callie answered.

"Even if our families do not want us together? " He asked.

"If they didn't want us together, they would not have accepted it, by our third month anniversary," Callie reminded him. " Reggie, you have nothing to worry about."

"Promise me," Reggie said. " Promise me, that if things start to get worse, that we will figure them out together. Promise me that if something ever bad happens in our life, we can always turn to each other." He looked her in the eyes, even the dark of night, Callie could see his worried expression.

"I promise Reggie," Callie promised.

*******

The next day, Callie was at her locker talking to Midge Klump. They were talking about their lit assignment when she saw Jughead being escorted by Principal Weatherbee and Sheriff Keller.

"Oh my god," Midge gasped.

*******

Callie now was at the police station with her daad and Archie, They were talking to the sheriff while Betty talked Jughead. Mr Jones was nowhere to be found.

"Jughead's not helping himself in there," Sheriff Keller stated. " I asked him for an alibi, and he just gave me lip."

"He was working for me," Her dad stated. "Yeah, the week of July 11th, was it?" Callie and Archie both stepped closer to the adults. " Yeah, I had him tear down some drywall for me."

" You can provide me with documentation to support that? " Sheriff Keller asked.

" I have to check my time cards," Mr Andrews admitted. Soon they were all able to leave the police station with Jughead freed.

"Jughead!" Mr Jones shouted walking up to the group. " I'm sorry. I came as soon as I got your messages. My phone, the friggin' battery. I forgot to plug it on last night." Everone continued to look at him. " What the hell happened?"

"Nothing," Jughead responded. " It's fine now. Mr Andrews took care of it." Callie looked back and saw how angry Jughead looked.

" What jacked-up crap did they accuse you of in there, huh?" FP Jones asked. " Those bastards trying to throw you in jail? Like they did your old man? Well, screw that." Callie took a couple steps closer to Archie. " I will rip Keller a new one for trying to pull that." His dad started at the police station.

"FP, settle down," Mr Andrews advised, trying to stop him.

"Hey! Hey! This is my son, he is my son, Fred!" FP yelled at Fred Andrews. He pushed him back. " You'd do the same for your boy."

"Dad," Jughead said, he grabbed on to his dad's shirt, to prevent him from walking any further. " Don't make things worse. Please." He looked at his son, before nodding.

"Yeah," FP breathed. " Yeah, all right, then. You, uh, coming home with me?" He started to walk away. Jughead did not follow his dad.

"He can stay with us, Mr Jones," Archie suggested. " We already offered."

"Is that what you want?" FP asked his son. Jughead looked at the ground, avoiding eye contact with his dad. " maybe that's for the best. if you don't mind Fred."

"Whatever you want, FP," Mr Andrews suggested. " It's between the two of you."

" I'll go with you, Dad," Jughead said. He walked over to his dad. FP placed his hands on his son's shoulders. " Son, listen to me. I'm gonna do what you want, get my act together. I'm gonna get your mom and Jellybean home so we're all under the same roof. I promise. But I...I just need a little time to do that. Not a lot, not long, a month, two at the most." Jughead looked away. " Hey." His dad put his hand's on his face so they can look at each other. " And then we'll be back on track, all right? You..you believe that, don't you?"

"Yeah, I believe you, Dad," Jughead answered. The two hugged each other tightly.

"All right," FP chuckled lightly. His dad then walked away and Jughead turned towards the others. Betty immediately comforted him, and they walked away as well.

******

Callie now stood in her dad's work trailer with Archie, as her father did some paperwork. She watched him stamp a sheet to prove Jughead was with him.

"You've done this before?" Callie asked

" Yeah, well, FP's got his tricks, I got mine," her dad answered. " Maybe I should've given him another chance back then. Either way, Jughead doesn't deserve what's happening to him. It's the least I can do." Afterwards, Callie met up with a couple of people at Pop's. She was with Archie, Veronica, Betty, Jughead, and Polly. She was happy to see Polly again after a long time. She told Polly congratulations on the baby.

" The Blossom's should be here soon," Betty spoked. " Once we've talked things through with them, we'll call Mom and Dad. Are you nervous?"

"I'm thankful," Polly answered. " At the home, the Sisters said each of us had a guardian angel. You're mine Betty". They heard the door opened, everyone looked to see Cheryl standing there without her parents.

"What's going on Cheryl?" Callie asked, not liking the looks on that girl's face. Polly got up and Cheryl placed a hand on Polly's belly.

"I'm so sorry about Jason," Polly apologized. "I know how much you loved him." Polly rubbed Cheryl's hand. " And he always talked about how much he loved you."

"Cheryl, where are your mom and dad? " Callie asked.

"You have to leave. Now," Cheryl advised. " My parents, I don't think they want to help you."

" What are you talking about?" Betty asked.

"They want you out of the picture, Polly, " Cheryl stated the facts. " It's not safe for you with them. It's not safe for Jay-Jays baby."

"Where am I supposed to go?" Polly asked, looking at everyone. She looked terrified. " I can't go back to the attic.'

"No, " Betty said.

" You don't have to, Polly," Veronica spoke up. " And don't worry about my mom, Betty, she'll want to help."

*****

When they got home, Callie laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Slowly, she felt like her world was falling apart, at the same time it felt held together. She picked the picture of Reggie next to the bed and stared at it. She thought about what all happened to Jason and Polly, and soon her head filled with the same worries her boyfriend contained.
