Smackdown has made it to Portland this week and a few interesting things were planned for tonight. The first hour or so consisted of a promo by AJ Styles, a Tag Team match and a Singles match between Kofi Kingston and Cesaro. The atmosphere was pretty good for once as the other talent that was scheduled got ready for their own stories while Y/N stood near the curtain because he was up next for a match against Sami Zayn who was already on the way to the ring.

Sami got a huge pop from the fans and wore a big smile on his face as he highfived a few people in the front rows. He enjoyed a positive standing for now and loved everything about this, climbing into the ring and hyping up the fans a bit more. Everyone was excited to see what was going to happen as Y/N was making his entrance next.

The vibe definitly changed as the arena went dark and a single spotlight focussed on Y/N as he grinned devilishly. His steps were heavy, the tall man not getting distracted by fans as he marched towards the ring as if he was going to war. He and Sami talked before the show to make this a great match for the viewers, so a lot of effort would be shown very soon. Y/N dropped his jacket outside, got in the ring and looked at Sami. The ref checked in with both of them, letting the bell ring as the two circled each other for a moment before lockibg up. A difference in strength was easy to see as Y/N pushed Sami over to the corner and held him there for a few seconds. He enjoyed toying with his opponents, only breaking the lockup when the ref got involved. Sami was angry and charged straight at Y/N again, hitting him with punches several times as Y/N covered his face. They wanted to sell the match as best as possible and by the looks of things, it worked quite well. Sami quickly went to the middle rope and wanted to get Y/N with a Crossbody, but Y/N reversed it into a Backbreaker.

Obviously the size difference played into everything as well when they discussed the match, but they still got the OK from creative. Y/N threw Sami aside and basked in the boos he received as a reaction, but he didn't really care. Instead, he got Sami by the beard, pulled him up and delivered a Neckbreaker this time.

There was barely any time to breathe in between moves, but the two wanted ut like this. They wanted the anticipation to shoot high, to have everyone at the edge of their seat from the early goings of the match. Y/N dusted his hands off, making it look as if this was too easy fir him while Sami was at the bottom rope and slowly getting back to his feet. He already had something in mind, pulling the rope down and getting Y/N out of the ring when he charged ahead. This gave Sami a big opportunity and he used it immediately for a Somersault over the top.

Sami didn't quit that easily as he brought the fight to Y/N with moves like that. The fans went wild thanks to the dive and Sami got back up quickly because he had another thing in mind, walking to the other side of the ring post while Y/N had to take a breather. He knew this match wasn't going to be easy and he appreciated the spirit in Sami. Getting up, Y/N quickly moved some hair out of his face until Sami came through with a Tornado DDT past the ring post.

If you wanted speed and agility, you came to the right place now because neither of them let up any time soon. Sami really felt like he had a jet engine for breakfast because he barely wasted any time as he lifted Y/N back to his feet and threw him back in the ring. He let himself be cheered on by the crowd a bit before heading back in as well. He stomped the canvas a few times and wanted to hit Y/N again, but Y/N countered the attempt into a Michinoku Driver.

The first Pin attempt followed, but Sami kicked out at Two to keep the fight alive. Y/N sighed quietly to sell his frustration as he got up and argued with the ref, giving Sami a moment to recover. Both men had good ring chemistry thus far, so it would only become more interesting soon. When Y/N turned around, he was hit by the same move as Sami gathered some serious strength to put him down.

Both men were down now, having taken some good damage from each other as fans were watching closely. They knew this wasn't the end of it and wanted to see a fair finish sooner or later. The ref counted both men as they struggled a little to get back up, Sami once again using the ropes and Y/N helping himself with the turnbuckle. They stared each other down, nodding as the final phase of the match was coming closer when they clotheslined each other, but neither fell down. It was impressive to see, but Sami was caught when Y/N stepped aside, made him bounce back from the ropes and hit him with a German Suplex.

Due to the heavy rebound, Sami was on his feet again quickly, but Y/N put zhe finishing touch on the match with an Elbow Strike right on the jaw.

The match was over and Y/N was victorious again, letting go of Sami and sitting down with his arms spread. He had the attention of many people around the WWE and someone from the back wanted to cut Y/N down to size.
