Chapter 7
Dawn had seen more than her fair share, now she had to save the others, but she did not see it as such a dreadful thing. In the month that had passed, she was able to get to know each of them a bit more yet as she got to know more about Leo and Raoul even Victor, Michael seemed to drift away from her. Though it made her feel sad for a while, she would not force him to be with her in any way. Instead, she tried to learn from the others. In her eyes, Leo was the leader, he knew most of the history and what happened to the other king vampires, that usually ended in a bad way when the queen became bored. Raoul on the other hand seemed to be the scholar, he loved to learn about anything, he would often tell her that was what prevented him from going crazy with such a long-life span ahead of him.
Victor on the other hand was the muscle of the group. He was wicked strong and able to take down anything that stood in his path. She had even sparred with him a couple of times to keep her skills sharp in case she ever needed to use them for another attack. He would not hurt her instead he would try and teach her to think like a vampire, that way she could predict the attack before it ever came.
Andrew had given them a month and true to his word, he came back. He looked rougher than he had before. When Dawn saw him again, he looked more tired than he was before, it made her wonder if the queen was getting bored with him and using him for other things? He sat on the hill and watched as Victor and her had finished the sparring session they had done. Victor cleaned himself off as he walked past Andrew knowing that more than likely he was not here to talk with him.
"I have returned as promised my dear." Andrew smiled as Dawn came to him and he gently took her hand and kissed it again.
"What has happened to you?" she questioned showing concern for him.
"I am losing my purpose faster than any other king; she will have me dead before the end of the year." Andrew answered truthfully, no reason to hide anything.
It was spring so Dawn wondered how long Andrew really had left if she was already ignoring him and giving him meaningless tasks. Gripping his hand, she led him into the house. When they got inside what they saw shocked them both. Michael was being chased after by Leo as a woman followed close after him.
"Does this happen often?" Andrew whispered to Dawn.
"No, this is the first time, but I don't really understand what is going on." she replied as Leo then tackled Michael to the ground.
Everyone walked forward to see what the big deal was. Leo sighed and lifted the letter from Michael's hand. Everyone wanted to hear what was happening as Leo began to read the letter aloud.
"This is a letter to confirm the engagement between Michael Debounce and Harriet Lestrade, they shall be joining in holy ceremony in two weeks. "Leo says then sighs and shakes his head. "I knew you couldn't keep yourself together, the minute you saw her spending more time with us you became jealous and went to marry some random woman."
Raoul walked in just at that moment and looked to see Michael staring at the woman completely infatuated with her. Rasing his eyebrow at the scene, he looked over and saw Dawn was trying to stand strong, but it was clear the scene before her was distressing. Andrew wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close to him.
"He cannot marry you; he is next." Andrew sighed but everyone's attention went to him. "He will be the next king, right after I die."
"He's the youngest, why would she want him?" Victor spoke up.
"No clue, I have heard these words from her own lips, so I tell you it is the truth." Andrew said as he looked to Dawn. "You will be safe with Raoul, Leo and Victor even after I am beheaded."
Dawn's eyes widened. Why was he going to be beheaded? He was the king at least for the moment, how could they just chop off his head? Michael looked around and he was outraged. He threw the small table that was beside him into a mall completely smashing it into pieces.
"I won't go." Michael yelled.
"Then she will kill your family, as she did Dawn's." Andrew yells right back at Michael.
Michael froze, his family only had power because of the queen. They only lived well because they sacrificed him to the vampire queen. Harriet tried to touch Michael only to have him growl at her. Raoul shook his head and led the woman to the door quickly explaining that she had to leave and best not to ever return.
"Why should I care? They sacrificed me for their position and money, maybe it would be better if they were dead!" Michael yelled back.
"It won't be, she will bring them here and kill them one by one right in front of you." Andrew tries to convince Michael.
Dawn closed her eyes and she tried not to remember the look on her family's faces when they left the world ahead of their time. Instead, a tear rolled down her cheek. Raoul came to her side and wiped the tear away.
"Andrew, it's best if you talk about this somewhere else with Michael." Raoul suggested as he looked down at Dawn.
Andrew nodded and left the room, dragging Michael right behind him by the ear. Victor came up to Dawn and placed his hand on her shoulder as the tears came bursting out. She did not mean to cry but it all happened so fast that she could not control it. Raoul and Victor hugged her close.
"She's moving quicker than before, if she means to end Andrew, he only last 6 years then. She must have others that will be appearing soon, new vampires with no control." Leo said pointing out the sad future facts.
A knock on the door made them all look to it. Leo quickly went and opened the door, there stood four new vampires who looked to be normal now. They all looked to be in a trance as they entered the large foyer.
"Well, this isn't good." Leo sighed.
