Chapter 6
Michael sensed something was wrong, as did Raoul and Leo. All of them looked at one another before using their speed and getting up to Dawn's room within a matter of minutes. There at the window they saw young Sarah holding a knocked out Dawn half way outside the window.
"What in gods name are you doing?!" Michael yelled at Sarah.
"If she's dead you can re marry!" Sarah smiled a cringeworthy smile
"No! Put her down, bring her back in! What have you done to her?" Michael said about to attack the blonde before him.
"Just a quick fall and it's all over." Sarah said about to drop her.
"No! She carries my child!" Leo yelled as he was then held back by Raoul and Michael.
"You...your having a baby with a whore?" Sarah asked confused.
"Call her whore one more time and I will rip your tongue from your throat!" Michael yelled at Sarah.
Andrew and Victor finally made it to the room, both of them were shocked at the sight.
'Leo, defend Dawn, kill the girl!' Andrew commanded through his mind to the vampire.
Leo broke through his friends and grabbed Sarah by her throat. Sarah dropped Dawn and she was still half out the window.
'Raoul get Dawn, bring her inside.' Andrew commanded again.
Raoul grabbed Dawn and held her in his arms. The others watched as Leo held Sarah up by her throat. Leo's strength was more than he had before. He didn't want to kill Sarah but he didn't want Dawn to be in danger.
'She wanted to kill Dawn so she could have one of you, you have to kill her." Andrew's voice echoed in Leo's mind.
Dawn groaned as she opened her eyes. She was shocked to see Leo holding Sarah up by her neck. Moving her head barely, Raoul looked down and saw the blood coming from Dawn's head wound. Raoul looked to Michael whose head snapped when the smell reached his nose.
"Dawn, why is your head bleeding?" Michael asked as he moves to hold Dawn's head up.
Leo's grip dropped, Sarah fell to the ground gasping for air. He quickly went to Dawn's side and saw the blood coming from her head. Sarah had done this to Dawn. Anger raged through all the men in the room. Dawn could see the fear in Sarah's eyes.
"No...don't kill her...let her go...victor glamour her and leave her in the forest." Dawn groaned as she tried to stand only to be supported by the other three vampires.
'Do as she says Victor.' Andrew commanded.
Victor grabbed Sarah and pulled her out of the room. Dawn gently touched the wound on her head and hissed at the pain that followed after the touch. She didn't want to know if Victor would actually listen to what she or Andrew said.
''You all have a month, I will be back then and maybe we can help her avenge her parents. Until then keep her safe and alive." Andrew said as he then walked out of the room.
Leo stood up and looked out the window, he could see Victor and Sarah out in the distance. He was doing a form of glamouring her...he was taking her purity and once she returned home she would have to tell her father she was with a man who already had a child, she would be disgraced. Speaking of child how would they explain that part of Victor's story? Michael laid Dawn on the bed.
"What the hell happened today?" Dawn sighed.
"Andrew threatened to kill you if we didn't play along with his story, we didn't know he would tarnish your name." Raoul said as he walked up to the bed.
"Whore I don't mind, especially if it means I can protect you from other women." Dawn smiled as she looked at the three vampires.
"Leo, come I think we could use a drink." Raoul said leading Leo out of the room so Dawn could rest with Michael.
Once in the library, Raoul confronted Leo.
"You changed, now I see why you don't touch hardly anyone. You kissed her and it changed everything you felt for her, just like it did for me." Raoul said as he looked into the fire cracking in the fireplace.
"He'll kill us, Michael would too. If we no it's not possible, she's human and there is no way any of us can claim her heart. Michael perhaps but not you or I." Leo said pouring a red liquid into a cup.
"It's happened before, I know you know of it. She could be different than other mortals, that's what scares you isn't it?" Raoul questioned.
"No, what scares me is seeing her hanging high from a tree because she dared to love one of us let alone all of us. Knowing I couldn't save her just like you couldn't save Gwen, that does not scare me, it petrifies me!" Leo said throwing the glass into the fire.
Raoul shook his head, he knew Leo was right. He would never want to see Dawn dead. Especially not because of them. Just then the door opened and there was Victor, chained wrapped around his neck and arms. Right behind him the older man from before with his wife and children. They were well armed as well. Why couldn't France just be normal?
"Come now, the ceremony won't begin without the other two grooms." The older man smiled.
"Why didn't the glamour work?" Raoul asked Victor.
"No clue, all I know is we are dead. Thanks to them." The old man shook his head.
"You claimed Sarah so you have to marry her. Tis the law of our land." He said as he pulled on the chains. "Come along boys and we may let the whore live."
Michael was fast asleep, Dawn didn't know that he could sleep. Still she didn't want to wake him but she also could feel a strange pull leading her out of the room. Changing into her hunting clothes, she stuck a blade in her boot and looked to her door. She didn't know what awaited her out there.
Taking a candle from a nearby candelabra she followed the carpeted stairs down to the main floor. The house was dark and had a strange feeling to it. Before the neighbors had made their appearance it was a nice and simple house, it almost felt comfy. Now it was cold and dark, she had a bad feeling about what had happened while she slept. Walking to the back doors, she could see lights coming from the garden. Taking her pistol out, she walked out the back door and towards the garden.
She could see there was a group of people all gathered around the center of the garden. Hiding behind a large bush, she could see it was the weird neighbors and they were all circled around Victor, Raoul and Leo. It looked like they were chained down to the ground, their shirts were removed and their heads were down. Dawn was confused as to what was happening before her eyes.
"One at a time girls, they need their strength to give us a future generation." The old man smiled.
His three daughters, including Sarah came forward. Now Dawn was starting to regret not letting Leo kill her while he had the chance. Instead she did something that she would probably regret. She looked to the dry dull bush before her and an idea ignited in her mind. She took her candle and sat it, still lit inside the bush. It took only a matter of second for the bush to become a burning bush.
"Take that as a sign you idiots." Dawn hid behind another tree and waited as the older man ordered the girls to put out the fire.
One girl happened to come over and Dawn took a nearby tree branch and knocked her upside the head. The girl fell to the ground as Dawn looked over at the three vampires. She didn't know what was about to happen but she knew it wasn't good.
This was her chance. Sword still strapped to her side, she ran to the vampires and took her pistol aiming it at the chains they were all in. One loud bang and the chains fell from the vampires. They all looked up in surprise at Dawn who smiled at them.
"Can't have all my lovers with other women, your mine." Dawn said just as a loud scream came from behind her.
Dawn barely had time to turn around and scream when Leo was before her holding the eldest daughters neck in the palm of his head. She heard a loud crack and then the eldest fell to the ground dead.
"Do not stop me this time Dawn, I cannot stop it now." Leo said as he turned to Dawn as she saw his eyes were red.
"Blood lust, Leo..." Dawn barely finished as he grabbed hold of another sister who went to attack her.
Same as before there was a crack and then the girl fell dead to the ground.
Raoul had ahold of the father while Victor took on the mother. One daughter left, Sarah. Leo watched as Sarah measured up Dawn, but he wouldn't allow her to come anywhere near her, so he thought. Sarah hit him upside the head with what appeared to be a frying pan, she then went to Leo holding the frying pan high like she was going to smash his head in. Not on Dawn's watch. Dawn unsheathed her sword and pierced right through Sarah's heart.
Looking down Sarah had one last thing to Leo.
"She's still a whore." Sarah said blood trickling from her mouth. "Multiple men can't have her."
"We aren't like other men." Leo said as he barred his fangs. "She is ours and you are dead."
Removing her sword, Dawn watched as Sarah fell to the side and bled out. Offering her hand to Leo, Dawn helped him up then examined where Sarah had hit him on the face with the frying pan. Leo could feel the warmth radiating off her skin as he leaned into her touch against his own will.
"No harm done, still as handsome as ever." Dawn smiled as she looked into Leo's eyes.
"You saved me...why?" Leo questioned Dawn.
"I told you, I can't let my lovers die. I'd lose my reputation." Dawn smiled and shrugged.
"We'll burn the bodies, no one will know of this." Raoul said putting one sister's body on top of another.
"It'll keep unwanted prospects of marriage away, this way we can live in peace. I could care fewer what people think of me." Dawn said as she took a branch from the bush and threw it on the pile of corpses.
"Dawn, people will think horrible of you. What would you do then?" Michael asked confused by this sudden acceptance of a crazy plan.
"I don't care what they think, I don't need them, I need you guys." Dawn said solemnly as she watched the flames rise from the center of the pile.
Raoul looked between the lot of them, Andrew had truly put them between a rock and a hard place. With one family gone that didn't mean others hadn't heard the news of four men moving in and apparently the gossipers forgot to mention that Dawn was here as well. Dusting the dirt from her shit, she turned and started to walk back to the house, Michael following right behind her.
"Will it be like this forever? Just following Andrews orders and-" Raoul started but Victor stopped him.
"Raoul, enough lying. Andrew may have spoke out about the idea of her being with more than one of us but I know for a fact the both of you had already thought of it. Leo was able to hide it until Dawn kissed him, that was just enough to push his control out. Raoul you act as though you have no feelings at all, you shut everyone out after Gwen died but you already knew you lost her long ago. Instead of doing what every vampire would do and kill a hunter you didn't make a move." Victor pointed out to the two vampires.
"You fed from her, you saved her and brought her to us." Leo reminded Victor.
"I remember, I thought once Michael bit her that would be the end of it, any and all connection I had with her would be gone."
"Is it?" Raoul asked curious.
"No, I tried to hide it and burry it deep. Distract myself by any means." Victor sighed leaning against a tree.
"Including means of the flesh, one that helped us become chained?" Leo asked with a smirk on his face.
"Not my best moment I admit as well as killing the other two but still that is not the point. The connection is still there, it is not as strong as before but I can still see her crystal clear when I close my eyes, I can smell her scent, it's a mixture of vanilla and honey. I can sense when she is in danger, all of these are still the same."
Leo looked to Victor and could tell how conflicted he was. What he spoke was true and he knew it, what control he had over his emotions had just been swept away thanks to Dawn and he kiss. Looking down, Leo shook his head.
"This is more than I ever thought we would have to do. How is it possible? We can't just take turns...can we?" Raoul said as he took off his petticoat and threw it aside.
"She's a woman Raoul, not a toy to share." Leo sighed unsure what to say.
"What better plan is there?" Victor spoke up as he walked past the two. "Just do what we have to and listen to her. That's it."
Michael helped Dawn change into a dress, she and he both knew others would be coming and they would have to keep up appearances. It made Michael uncomfortable knowing she was going to pretend to be with all of them.
"You don't have to do this you know, we can figure something else out." Michael spoke softly trying not to sound to jealous.
"Michael, we just killed a family who had three of our friends chained to one another about to do only god knows what to them. If others think me a whore and with all of you and keep them at bay then I would rather do that then kill another family." Dawn says as she turns around and looks to Michael. "I won't let anything happen to any of you if I can prevent it."
Michael held Dawn close to her, she leaned into his touch. She wanted to protect them just like they protected her. She had no family, this was it. The four vampires who could have drained her dry but instead kept her safe and sound.
"Dawn, you are truly more than any of us ever deserved." Michael said as he leaned down and kissed her.
