Chapter 3

"Hello?" Dawn jumped as she wrapped herself in her robe and ran over to the door.

She threw the doors open and there stood Michael and he was clearly upset about something. Dawn went right to him and gulped his face in her hands and looked him in the eyes. Finally, after a moment she got his attention.

"Michael, what is it?" Dawn questioned.

"I opened the door and saw you, well all of the back of you...I swear I didn't mean to Dawn." Michael gulped and tried to look away, but Dawn forced him to look at her and he saw a small smile on her face. "Why do you smile?"

"Because if you had blood flowing through those veins, I am positive you would be blushing right now. I forgive you but please knock next time. We don't know if I would be facing the door when I changed again." She chuckled and placed a small kiss on his nose before going back into her room and shutting the door.

"Raoul was right, poor vampire already had his heart claimed and not been undead five years. Next thing I will hear is you want to turn her and make her yours forever." Leo sighed as he put the book to his side that he was reading.

"Leo...I never courted anyone before I was turned...I don't know what I feel. I worry about her going into town to find Victor though I know she is a hunter and capable of defending herself just fine. I still fear someone might recognize her and want to kill her for just knowing who we are." Michael sighed as he began to pace outside Dawn's room.

"Then go with her, make sure no harm comes to her. You are a vampire after all, use some of our power and make sure that both she and Victor make it home safe." Leo replied with a shrug.

"Leo, I can't let any harm come to her. I have no connection with her, but all my thoughts are of her, when I saw her in that dress standing beside you, I wanted to attack you just to grab her and bite her to hold any connection with her." Michael sighed as he hit the wall.

"That's love, love at first sight I would say. She feels something for you too after all she did kiss you. On the nose but still a kiss is a kiss." Leo said as he saw the confusion Michael was in.

"I never wanted this, to fall in love with a mortal let alone a hunter who knew how to kill me probably faster than I knew how to run yet I still love her! I would die for her and yet I barely know her! Is that not madness?" Michael asked as his back slid down the wall.

"That is love my friend, it is truly maddening not that Leo would know." Raoul said walking up to them.

"I had a love once; I just prefer not to talk about it." Leo said as he went back to his book and Raoul rolled his eyes at him.

"Michael be patient do not rush her. Let her come to you and make sure you are there to catch her if she falls." Raoul said leading him down the hall as Dawn's door opened and she walked out.

No longer wearing the blue dress, instead she wore tight black breeches, a white shirt with a brown vest over the top. Her long red hair still in the same hairstyle as before with long black boots that came up to her knees. Raoul patted his friend and brother on his back knowing the hard time Michael would have trying not to bite Dawn and make her his.

"Good luck brother." Raoul chuckled as Michael groaned.

"Not funny Raoul."

"Ready?" Dawn asked as she latched a sword to her side.

On her right side were two pistols and on her left was the sword. What Michael didn't see were the few blades she had hidden in her boots. Hands on her hips Dawn looked at Michael waiting for him to say something and then he saw the bite on her neck. Taking off his ascot, he went to Dawn and put it around her neck and adding his golden broach.

"Can't let the bite be seen." Michael said as he scratched the back of his head.

"I wish you had bitten me, not Victor." Dawn said as she looked up into his eyes.

"Maybe another time? When you can say the three words, I desperately want to say to you as well as hear from you." Michael told Dawn as he brushed her red hair from her face.

I love you, three deadly word in her world. She couldn't imagine saying them to any of the hunters she had teamed with before yet looking into the eye of this vampire she wanted to scream them so everyone in the house could hear. Not one to be patient, Dawn stood on her tippy toes and placed as kiss right on Michaels lips. She could feel him wrap his arms around her and his want to deepen the kiss.

"Ahem, not to interrupt but I truly fear what Victor could be doing at this very moment." Leo said as Dawn and Michael both looked over at him and Michael narrowed his eyes at his friend. "The faster you leave the faster you can return."

Leo then made a quick escape, Dawn watched as Michael slowly pulled himself away from her.

"Will that do for now?" Dawn asked.

"Yes, I am going with you though, no need arguing I will be there in case something happens." Michael said as he crossed his arms.

"Alright, if you get hurt then you have my permission to feed from me." Dawn said as she turned and began to walk away.

"Dawn! You just gave me permission to bite you!" Michael called out to her.

"I know! Let's get going!" Dawn called out as she kept going.

Victor looked down at the woman in his arms, she wasn't dead just fast asleep. He moved from the bed and redressed. He hated when this part of him took over but it was beyond powerful now. Looking at the mirror he was disgusted at himself. He left the room unaware that the woman's husband had seen him and now the husband was out for blood. Taking the axe he had the man called out to Victor and he turned around to see the man.

Right before the man could lower the axe a loud gunshot went off. Looking around both men were confused to see a woman holding up a pistol that was still smoking. Victor knew exactly who it was and wasn't surprised to see she had weapons.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you!" Dawn yelled at the husband.

"Why not?! He slept with my wife! I will kill him!!!" the husband yelled as he raised the axe again.

Dawn rolled her eyes knowing the fat oaf wouldn't listen to her, she took off running and tackled Victor to the ground. Landing flat on his back Victor coughed as he looked up at her. Dawn's long red hair covered his face and he blew it aside as he saw the gleam of the blade of the axe. Victor's eyes widened as out of nowhere, Dawn kicked her leg back and hit the man right between the legs. She pushed herself from Victor and turned around with her sword now in hand and looked at the man.

"You bitch!" the husband yelled at her.

"Watch your language you are in the presence of a lady!" Dawn yelled right back.

"Lady!?! Ha! You can't even keep a poor fool like him pleased, I'm going to enjoy ruining you!" the husband yelled out as he stood tall.

Michael grew anxious as he watched from the trees, he knew Dawn could handle herself, but he was beginning to get nervous for her. Dawn and the man circled one another as Victor stood up. The man caught sight of Victor and went to attack him, and Victor barred his teeth.

"VAMPIRE!!!" the man yelled out.

Great, that was all Dawn needed. Victor went to grab the man when the woman he had just slept with came up and jumped on his back. She began hitting Victor over and over and Dawn wanted to see what would happen as he tried to fight them both off. Michael shook his head knowing Victor was truly an idiot for showing his teeth to the mortal. The husband then grabbed a very sharp piece of wood that just happened to look like a stake.

"Kill him husband! He raped me and used me!'' the wife called out from behind Victor.

"Lying whore!" Victor yelled back.

The husband took the stake up high and was about to stab it into Victor's heart but he felt something holding his hand, turning back he saw Dawn holding him by the wrist and with one quick motion Dawn broke the mans wrist and the stake fell to the ground.

"Two against one isn't quite fair. Come on even with a broken wrist you should be able to take on a girl." Dawn baited as she backed up and the man took the bait.

Running to try and get her Dawn managed to dodge him quite a few times as the wife yelled out directions to send her husband in. The husband finally fell to the ground exhausted. He had no more energy to chase after Dawn.

"You are a fool, if you wanted to kill a vampire you have to be able to run like one of them." Dawn said as she walked up to the man. "Tell your bitch to release him or I won't be as generous as I was when I broke just your wrist."

The husband looked up at the wife and even saw her kissing Victor's head. If that didn't prove his wife was a liar, then Dawn didn't know what did.

"Let him go!" the husband groaned out.

"Husband! He-"the woman started but it was Dawn who walked up to her and held the sword to her throat.

"Finish that statement and I will spill your blood not the vampire." Dawn threatened.

The woman then pushed Victor to the ground. Dawn sheathed her blade and went to Victor. Michael knew that wasn't the best idea as the wife then took out a blade herself and was about to attack Dawn. Jumping down he ran using his vampire speed and grabbed the woman by her face and holding her against a tree. The woman dropped the blade and screamed. Dawn turned around and saw Michael holding the woman and the knife on the ground.

"Idiots never learn." Dawn sighed as she went to Michael. "Let her go, she can't hurt me. She's nothing Michael."

The soft and comforting tone in Dawn's voice spoke to Michael and he looked over at her. Dawn smiled as she caressed his face with her palm making Michael drop the woman on the spot. Michael then took Dawn in his arms and then saw Victor walk up to them with blood on his mouth. Dawn knew that smell, she turned around in Michael arms.

"What did you do?" Michael asked Victor.

"He knew what I was, I had to kill him as I will her." Victor said and before either of them could stop him, Victor had the woman in his arms and was drinking from her, it took him second to bleed her dry.

"Victor what in god's name are you doing?!" Dawn yelled as she watched in horror.

"Being the monster people believe I am and keeping this whole night out of the sight of the townspeople." Victor answered as he took the woman's body into the house.

"You think they won't notice when two people go missing?" Michael yells to Victor.

Victor doesn't answer, instead he grabs the husband's body and throws it inside before shutting the door. Taking a torch from outside the house he throws it on the straw roof, and it became engulfed in flames.

"There, no one will ever know. Problem solved." Victor says wiping the blood from his mouth.

"This wouldn't have happened if you could control yourself!" Dawn yells as she walks right up to him and forces him to turn to her.

"No! None of this would have happened if I hadn't bit you! If I didn't now crave to ravage your body! There are two reasons to be bitten and neither of them were meant to be between you and me! I do not want to kill you, nor do I want to mate with you!" Victor yelled at Dawn.

"Victor that's enough, she is not to blame, you would have died." Michael says as he walks up behind Dawn and puts his hand on her shoulder.

"Michael! Be a man! If you want her so badly then bloody bite her! I am tired of the visions I have of her!!!" Victor groans as he walks up to Dawn. "I want to bleed you dry and make love to you so hard that I break you!!"

Dawn then turns to Michael who is wide eyed at Victor.

"If you bite me, will this stop with Victor? He won't want to do that to me anymore?" Dawn asks.

"He's right his connection with you would be gone and I would have those wants and desires then, but I could control them better than you!" Michael confirms but also yells at Victor.

Dawn pulls the ascot from her neck and holds Michaels face.

"Bite me, I don't want to have a connection with Victor, I'd rather have one with you. Please." Dawn asks Michael and he's unsure if she knows what she's asking of him.

Leo stood in the library as rain now poured down outside. He wondered about his brothers and if Dawn had accomplished her mission. Victor was stubborn and strong headed so he knew it would be quite the fight. Raoul came in with a light in hand and looked to his friend.

"Can you sense something different as well?" Raoul asked.

"I can, it appears a connection has been broken and a new one made. It would not take a genius to figure out what happened. Be supportive of them Raoul, Dawn is not like Gwen." Leo said as he looked back to Raoul.

"I know that, I could tell the moment I met her." Raoul sighed as he walked to Leo.

"Don't fall for her either, Michael has never been in love before, so I doubt, he wishes to share."

"Leo, I just lost Gwen ho- "Raoul started but Leo stopped him.

"You lost Gwen long ago, you just never told us. I am not fool Raoul, I mean it, stay away from Dawn or Michael will kill you." Leo says as he turns to leave.

"She cannot give him what he wants, he cannot have a family with her." Raoul says and that stops Leo.

"Why not? Haven't you ever heard of a half breed? Rare creatures but they do exist." Leo grins and walks out of the room.
