I jumped up onto the nearest branch that I could get to without causing a sound. The First Mage looked around, probably wondering where I'd disappeared. He looked up, but didn't seem to see me. Then the cursed legend walked away briskly.

If you ask me it was all pretty strange.

I let out a sigh of relief. Then without a second's warning, the Mage sneaked up behind me and knocked me out. The last thing I remembered was that he had absolutely no face....

I woke to my head hurting like hell. When I opened my eyes, I was blinded slightly by the sun's glare. After I regained my sight I looked around. I was pretty sure that I was in a meeting hall of some sort. Only instead of a nice business-like meeting, the chairs were filled with old, ugly seniors. Practically all of them were asleep or getting there. There was one part of the conference hall higher than the rest. Kinda like a judges table at court. The guy sitting at it stood out a lot. As compared to the others, he had regal robes, a dignified posture and a straight face. I'm guessing he was the boss. As soon as he noticed that I was awake, the boss guy clapped his hands and suddenly the whole atmosphere of the meeting changed. All the members of the Council stood at attention. "As you all know, the Oracle," the boss guy started out while nodding his head to a woman with her face covered under a hood. " has seen this child to be the One." Murmurs filled the hall, only settling when the Boss yelled out "SILENCE! Let me finish. This boy shall have powers beyond our imaginations. As such, I shall put him under the care and training of TheFirst Mage." And that was it, all I hoped for the next few years, my dreams and ideas, vanquished in less than 4 hours.

Life sure is cruel,huh?
