Chapter 12
"Walpurgisnacht comes in 5 days," Kyubey told Rena, "You should hurry and catch the remaining 5 magical girls."
"I wouldn't have to hurry if you hadn't contracted with another girl." Rena reminded the white incubator. Kyubey's face remained placid.
"It had to be done, or Ayame would have begun suspecting the incubators. I'm sure you can cope with an extra one." Rena shrugged.
"Whatever."
"Anyway, tonight, I want you to go after Ayame, before she can train Kana completely. Kana will be an easier target then." Kyubey's red eyes gleamed, as he sat there.
"A witch is a creature of despair. They lure humans into their barrier, before killing them and eating them. As magical girls, we have to stop them, and kill them. That's why I'm taking you witch-hunting tonight. I'll show you what a witch looks like, and you can practise fighting them." Kana nodded, clutching her beige coloured soul gem.
"Here's one." Ayame remarked, watching as her bright green soul gem began pulsing. Holding it out, she spun and twirled, her magic enveloping and transforming her, until she finally popped out, her black hair tied in multiple tails, her clothes now a neat, green dress.
"Your turn." She beamed at Kana. Kana nodded, clutching her pale, brown soul gem. She held it out, feeling it in her palm, and imagined it changing her. It did, and she could feel the magic transform, until finally, she stood there, in a brown and black outfit. She reached up, and felt a black bow in her hair, completing the outfit. An axe appeared in her hand, which she hefted, feeling its weight and familiarity.
"Ok, now we have to enter the labyrinth." Ayame told the brown haired magical girl. Ayame pulled out a pair of flintlocks, firing them at the air in front of them.
Kana watched with surprise, as a rift appeared in front of them.
"You can tell there's a witch labyrinth right there?" She asked in surprise. Ayame nodded.
"You'll get the hang of it. It's not that hard."
Ayame fought the witch hard, firing at the large, cumbersome witch with ease. Kana slashed at its familiars, watching how they dissolved as she cut them.
"Now attack the witch!" Ayame called to her. Kana began charging at the oversized witch, her axe swinging, ready to slash it.
Kana nodded, leaping towards the witch, her brown axe whirling above her head as she charged at her witch.
Throwing down the axe with all her might, the axe slashed through completely, leaving the witch to scream in pain, the roar echoing through the air as she died.
"Well done!" Ayame praised the young girl, "You did very well for your first witch fight."
Kana beamed at the praise. She opened her mouth to reply, but a white whip caught her around the throat before she could do anything.
Kana gasped and choked, as she was swung into the air. She felt faint already, and she couldn't get free of whatever was choking her.
"You!" She heard Ayame hiss, "Let her go!"
"I don't think so," A new voice replied, Kana couldn't see who it was, whoever it was below her, "I have to be quick anyway." Kana's eyes widened, as she felt the whips around her neck tighten, and felt her limbs lose power.
Ayame could only watch helplessly, as Kana's body turned limp, supported only by the whips constricting her. With a small sparkle, Kana disappeared, to who knows where.
"That's her done." The white girl said, turning her glowing red eyes to Ayame, "Now it's your turn." Ayame was quick to draw out a pair of flintlocks, firing rapidly at the girl. The girl just blinked, and the bullets flew off course, avoiding the girl.
Ayame gaped, but stiffened. She wouldn't be bested by this girl.
"I won't let you get away, Oriko Mikuni!" She cried at the girl. The girl's mouth opened, but instead of talking, she was laughing. Laughing so hard she was doubled over.
"That's funny," She laughed, "Since when was I mistaken for that stupid prophet." Ayame was confused, but the girl stopped laughing, standing up straight.
"I'm not Oriko," She told her, "My name is Rena, and I am here to capture you." The whips flew towards Ayame at a speed that she couldn't comprehend.
With a crack, Ayame was caught, sent up into the air, wriggling and screaming.
"Shh, shhh," Rena cooed to the green magical girl, "It'll be over soon." As she said that, her red eyes glowed, and Ayame stopped struggling. Her eyes went dull, her body limp, as she sagged against the whips holding her up.
"That was quick." Rena smiled, preparing to go back to the lab.
