Chapter 11
Glowing light enveloped Kana's still body. Her body was lifted into the air by a strange, invisible force, the beige coloured soul gem floating above it. Finally, the light disappeared, and Kana's body fell back onto the bed with a thump. Ayame winced. Then she frowned. Kana was completely healed, but she looked different.
Where was her dark black hair? Her skin was much lighter now, as though the tan it had earlier had been washed away.
"Why do you look so surprised?" Kyubey asked Ayame, "She made her wish, so she's like this now." Ayame was stil confused.
"What does that have to do with giving her a complete makeover?" Kyubey just blinked.
"She said she didn't want to be hindered by this body, so the wish turned her into a better, more accustomed to fighting person." Ayame frowned.
"If she had made any other wish, she would still have been healed, once she became a magical girl." Kyubey shook his head.
"That's not the case, if she had made a wish which didn't involve healing herself, the chances of her still being alive after I contract with her are very slim. You know that the contracting process can be quite painful, since we remove the soul from the body. Well, if she hadn't healed herself, she would probably have died," Kyubey explained, his cheerfully innocent voice showing no relief or fear.
"Shh, she's waking up," Ayame quietened him, turning back to the girl lying on the bed.
Kana blinked open with a start, staring at the murky ceiling above her. She heard a noise, and looked to the side, seeing Ayame and Kyubey.
"What happened?" She asked tiredly. The dark haired girl smiled.
"You're a magical girl now, well done!"
"Huh?" The surprise was evident in her voice, as Kana stared at the girl. Ayame tilted her head to the side.
"I'll explain," She began, opening her mouth, ready to give the lecture. Then she stopped, "I just need to take care of some business first." She stood up, walking to the opposite side of the room. Rolling over, Kana saw the man. As soon as she saw him, she remembered what he had done to her, and fear filled her. She sat up, shuffling backwards on the bed, wanting to get away from that awful person.
"Any last words?" Ayame asked the man mockingly. She wasn't in the mood to let such a horrible creature get away. In fact, she didn't even want to give him any last words. One swift shot was enough, and his dead body fell to the floor, his blood staining the floorboards.
Kana shivered at the sight of his face. She didn't want to see him anymore. It was so scary. She wouldn't cry though, she never cried.
"I'll tell you about magical girls now," The black haired girl said, turning back to Kana, seemingly unfazed by the fact that she had just shot someone dead, "Once we go back to my apartment."
"Should we stay here, in Kasamino City?" Kirika asked Oriko, "If there aren't any magical girls here, then wouldn't that mean there are plenty of witches here?" Oriko nodded slowly.
"We probably should stay here, but remember our aim. We have to kill Madoka. Being in Kasamino City won't help our case." Kirika sat up sharply, as if she just remembered.
'I'd forgotten," She admitted sheepishly, "Sorry." Oriko nodded, standing up.
"We should hurry up and catch a bus to Mitakihara City." She said. Kirika nodded, standing up as well.
