Chapter 1

"Six of nine young girls, who were reported missing last week, have been found again, walking back to their homes, after being missing for three days. When they were interviewed, none of them could remember anything...." The television blared, as the news reporter went on about the four missing girls. Ayame couldn't make head nor tail of it. She couldn't really care about it - as a matter of fact, she thought it was probably just something that happened becau they wanted to run away and then changed their minds and came back - She honestly didn't believe it.

Picking up the television remote, she pressed the power button, switching the tv off with a click. She sighed, staring at her soul gem, cupped in her hands. It glowed steadily, letting off a bright, evergreen glow.

Ayame had only been a magical girl for a week, but she felt as though she had been one for a month. She was the only magical girl in the city, so it meant plenty of witches and familiars for her. Kyubey had mentioned that there were more magical girls, but there was no other in the city. Mitakihara city was her domain.

Briefly, she began pondering whether she would rather have more magical girls in the city or not.

"We should go now." Homura murmured. She, Madoka and Yuuki kneeled in front of four memorials. The one on the far left was Mami's a simple, 5-petalled flower carved into it, along with her name, on the surprisingly bright-coloured sandstone. Next to it was Sayaka's memorial, a simple grey tombstone, with a half moon carved into it, along with her name. The far right was Yuma's, a smaller marble stone, with her name, and a cat face carved onto it, somewhat crudely. Madoka had insisted on carving it herself, probably because she had felt sorry for the young girl, who became a magical girl at such a young age, and felt that she should help somehow with their memorial stones. The last one was Kyoko's, set in between Yuma's and Sayaka's. The dark ebony wood seemed fitting, in the way of how she fell to grief. A blood red oval was carved, near its base, her name in elegant symbols in the middle of the stone.

The four of them stood in a row, on the outskirts of the city, were they were least likely to be disturbed. There were no bodies - they were all still in the arena, if the arena still existed. Madoka and Yuuki had insisted though, that they had to pay their respects, and remember them in some way, so they had made these memorials. Homura had to steal the stones, using her time magic, seeing as they couldn't afford them, and Madoka and Yuuki would want something appropriate to remember them with.

When Homura had stolen those stones, it had reminded her of another place, in another timeline.

The murmurs and conversations of the people around her filled her ears. Fearfully, Homura reached for her shield, twisting it, and watching the scene around her fix itself into a grey and black landscape. Carefully, she made her way towards a locker. They had told her she could find weapons, which would be more useful, and less dangerous to Sayaka.

Reaching the locker, she yanked it open, surprised at how easily it opened.

"Homura-chan?" Homura looked up to see Madoka looking at her curiously, "We're ready to leave now, Yuuki has to go home."

Yuuki nodded, before pulling something out of her bag, and placing it at the base of Sayaka's stone. Homura didn't want to press, so she stayed silent. Madoka, on the other hand, had no such restrictions.

"What is it?" She asked Yuuki. Yuuki hesitated, looking down.

"It's something of Sayaka's." She replied finally. Homura looked more closely, and saw that it was a book of children tales. Fairy tales.

"I just hope she's found her happily ever after." Yuuki admitted. Madoka gave her a hug, which Yuuki returned stiffly. Whether or not out of the arena, Yuuki was still wary around Homura and Madoka, especially Homura.

'I should go now," She said shortly, turning around to leave, "I might see you around." Walking off, towards the city area, she raised a hand briefly in farewell.

Sorry it took so long to update XD I hate this. I can't sync my phone and computer properly, so I'm pretty much losing a couple of paragraphs every time I try to sync it. It's so annoying. I don't know if it's because of the wi-fi, or because Wattpad is being dodgy. The first chapter is up though, and I hope you've enjoyed it C: The second chapter will be up soon, I hope, as long as the syncs work, and I don't lose a whole chunk each time I update. Thanks for reading!
