Chapter XXXV
It had been two months since Rajesh and Pallavi got into a stable relationship. They were going really good. They did not let their relationship affect their work towards developing games. 'The Matrix' had earned a really good name with SIDCO and with small time gamers. Now with couple successful projects under their belt, they didn't feel the need to be covert anymore and Ashok opened to his father about his side venture for the couple months and convinced him to let him continue and spearhead the upcoming projects. Now with being recruited legitimately, 'The Matrix' was continuously bombarded with regular software projects too, in addition to the regular game development. The workload had increased so much that the trio had recruited six more people. Now with a total of thirteen people, with ten interns, they were looking little cramped in the space they had taken year ago. The trio were thinking to take up a bigger space, but were getting a little short on funds.
"Guys we need to expand to a bigger office. We are little cramped up here man." Tarun suggests, on their end of the day meeting, a new initiative they started last week. They would sit down and discuss their finished objectives for the day, left out objectives that are to be carried out the next day and various other stuff like that.
"You do realize that you have been bringing up the issue of expanding for the whole week" Rajesh points out as he jolts down some points into his notebook.
"And every day your reply is same that we have less funds and we have to wait for some more time" Tarun mocks him.
"And do you think my reply is going to be different today?" Rajesh asks him sarcastically.
"Actually Rajesh, I have been looking over our funds for the last two days man. I think we may be able to get a bigger place. Also it is getting cramped here" Neeraj chimes in.
"That's it. We have majority here. We are moving to a bigger place." Tarun jumps from his chair, screaming at the top of his lungs and pointing to Rajesh.
"Hey guys" a girls voice drops in suddenly, causing all the guys to turn their heads to the door. As Rajesh, tilts his backwards over the chair, he sees and upside down face of Pallavi, popping through the door.
"Hey Pallavi. How are you doing" he asks, still looking over his chair.
"I am good. Your neck will be not in the next five minutes" she replies, pointing towards him.
"Hey Pallavi" Tarun and Neeraj greet her unanimously.
"Hey guys. Why are you guys screaming?" she asks, as she takes her seat next to Rajesh, connecting her hand with his.
"Pallavi, I am telling that the office is getting cramped for us three and the ten interns. Hell we are sharing a single office now. So Me and Neeraj are rooting for a bigger office. Rajesh is stopping us" Tarun complains about Rajesh, playfully smirking towards Rajesh.
"Rajesh why do you feel that you can't move to a better place?" she asks, turning towards him.
"Now you don't support them. He is playing with" he replies.
"I am not supporting them. I want to know your point of view." comes the calm reply.
"Well firstly, we are still under the contract of one and half years lease. It will expire only after two months. So until then we can't move. Plus we are correctly on the edge of the funds for the new place and the setup. Once we set up, we will have very less working capital." he points out.
"No biggies. We will borrow money from my mother" Tarun offers.
"Tarun, as much as I want to consider that as an investment from her side, I prefer to be independent and would like to expand on my own feet." Rajesh replies, putting his hands over the table and standing up.
Looking at this assertive figure and confident stance, a smile makes its way into Pallavi's face. She feels good that she met with him and decided to go into a relationship. Years later she could feel that she was moving on, that to in a better way. So mesmerized was she in looking at his confidence stance, she didn't realize that she had been shamelessly ogling at him.
"Earth to Pallavi. Come in Pallavi" brings her back to reality, as she jolts away from the trance and looks in the direction of the sarcastic comment, only to find Neeraj laughingly hysterically, imitating a walkie-talkie in his hand. She blushes in embarrassment.
"I was just joking. No harm in looking at your boyfriend. Actually it's we two who are spoiling the moment. Tarun, i guess we will have to slip away" Neeraj again suggests sarcastically.
"That won't be necessary. I am an exhibionist" she replies with a smirk. This reply of her wipes of the smirk from Neeraj's face faster than the speed of a shooting star. Looking at his expression, Pallavi breaks into a laughter, swinging her head back in the excitement.
"You really had me there" Neeraj replies sheepishly.
"Yeah. Anyway all jokes apart, I think you guys should expand after the two months. If funds is a problem, I can invest" Pallavi replies in a confident tone.
"Really Pallavi? You want to invest?" Rajesh asks with a surprise.
"Yeah. That way I can keep an eye on my boyfriend's expenditure. Boy you will be in a big trouble if you buy a rose and I don't get that" she warns him jokingly, pointing her finger.
"I think I can afford a rose on my own expenses thank you. No need to spend company money for it" Rajesh replies. She just smiles it off.
"Pallavi are you sure about investing?" Neeraj asks, with a serious tone.
"Well I have to invest somewhere and let my money work for me. Currently I have invested in SIDCO too. But that is a small amount. Here the returns will be better. Plus it will give me all the more reason to see my boyfriend" she replies, encircling Rajesh's arm within hers.
"Whoo hooo" Tarun hoots at them, causing Rajesh to scratch his head and look away while Pallavi's blushes and looks down.
"Anyhoo it is getting late. We should leave. I am guessing you are going to drop Pallavi to her place right Rajesh" Tarun asks, as he gets up and packs up his backpack.
"Yeah. You guessed it right. Come on honey. Let's get you home" Rajesh offers his hand, groom style. Pallavi encircles it happily, with a smile in her face, waving adieu to the guys. The leave in the bike for her hostel.
The whole ride, Pallavi was resting her head on Rajesh's shoulders, holding him for support as he swerves through the potholes, the biggest hurdle for drivers in India. Most of the guys would use them, so that the bike jerks and the girl holds them for support, but not Rajesh. Being the chivalrous man he is, he swerves around them carefully avoiding, all the while driving a decent speed. Fifteen minutes later, they reach her hostel. Pallavi gets down from his bike and stands next to him, just brushing her hand against his.
"You won't invite me in for coffee or tea?" Rajesh asks, with a mischievous tone.
"Too soon Rajesh, she playfully hits him in the arm.
"Anyway good night Rajesh. It is getting late for you too. You drive safely and message me when you reach home." she instructs him, more like commands him.
"Yes ma'am" Rajesh replies, with a military style salute, before breaking into a laughter.
"I love you Rajesh" she tells with a soft tone.
"I love you too Pallavi" he replies, running his hand along her nose. Pallavi then makes her away into the hostel. Rajesh stays there for a minute, looking at her walk away. Every time, when he dropped her, he felt an immense satisfaction that she was safe, but also a little disappointment that she was away from him. He wanted to be with her all the time. Pallavi turns back, swishing her hair in the most romantic way possible, which brings a huge smile onto Rajesh's face. He waits until she climbs to her floor, where she usually waves him goodbye from the verandah. Couple minutes later, she does wave him good bye from her verandah and gestures him to get a move on. Smiling it off, Rajesh turns his bike around....and heads home.
