CH 3 | SOUL OF THE DEAD

The amber sunrays glared into the atmosphere of the road as I walked out, stressing the airport security while my bodyguards were following me out when my phone buzzed inside the pocket of my suit jacket.

Fetching out the phone, I looked at the caller's name as an instant smile appeared on my visage while my lips curled upwards.

"How is my sweet darling doing? Are you here?" I asked after placing the phone against my ear, "We are just missing you and waiting for you outside the airport." I smiled while traveling with my eyes ahead of myself, all over the road when I found her standing next to the car as her belly had been bigger from the time I last saw her.

"My baby!" I muttered as she waved her arms at me, listening to my words on the call while I waved back, in contrast, I sauntered towards her.

"How was your trip?" She asked as I nodded, "Boring without you." I answered, hearing the giggles from the other side while I could see her walking to me while we both hung up over the call.

Her eyes were twinkling and the smile I got to see in person was giving me a calmness while my heart was at peace, just her glimpse was enough.

My eyes trailed beside her when I discerned a car, accelerated at a high speed steering in her direction. I furrowed my brow in the conclusion that it would decrease its speed in a few seconds or so but by passing seconds it did the opposite.

The phone in my hand slipped out as I looked back at Ari who was crossing the road, "Ari stop!" I shouted as she looked at me with her eyebrows crumpled and then looked beside herself. I rushed my steps towards her and crossed the border of the airport.

The speedy car hit her physique in front of my eyes while a bellow left my mouth, "Ari!!" My heart was pounding inside my chest as my bleary vision could see her frame dropping in the road as she let out a shout of pain while I rushed to her physique without wasting a second while all I could see was scarlet. Her visage hindering inside the gore while her sky blue frock, tincture bloody red which didn't take seconds to come into my eyeshot.

Ari!! I kneeled near her frame while tears were gushing down my orbs as I slipped my hand under her head and placed her head on my lap, "Ari!! Please, please don't close your eyes." I wept caressing her mellow cheek with the pad of my thumb.

"Call the f*cking ambulance!" I howled at top of my lungs to the bodyguards who scurried inside the scene, "Don't close your eyes." The hot droplet dropped down from my visage soaking my cheeks wet while I held her scarlet bloody hand into mine, tincturing my pale skin with red.

Squeezing her hand in mine, "Baby, please." I pleaded while she skimmed her other hand to her belly with her 7 months gestation.

I heard her frail and wobbly voice with orbs filled with the hot tears, "Tae.... Our baby. Please... please save her..." Her voice trailed off with her heavy heartbeat and unsteady breathings.

I nodded my head gulping down a lump in my throat, "Yes, we will save her. Please don't close your eyes. Ambulance will be here anytime." I said gazing at her fragile frame as she started closing her eyes shut when I patted her cheek, "Ari! No, Please don't."

The sound of the ambulance was heard while I was feeling miserable, gazing at her condition. She was dying in my arms, "You can't leave me, Ari!!" I whispered, pulling her close to my chest before I slipped my hand under her thighs and back. I stood up with her in my arms prior to walking near the ambulance.

"We will soon reach the hospital." I said as I heard her whispering in the crowd blabbering, "I love you, Taehyung..." I looked at her beneath when she shut her orbs, I halted my footsteps when I realised her hand hung low, lifeless, "Ari..." I called her out, "Ari!" I raised my voice at this moment when I didn't get any response.

Her bleeding visage didn't have any emotion on, all I could feel was my heart hammering against my chest and my throat wasn't able to respire properly.

I clutched onto her frame, pulling her close when the hospital staff came with the stretcher. They tried to pull her figure away from me, "Ari! Open your eyes baby." I whispered while the staff tried to seperate us both and I didn't let go of her physique.

"Taehyung, let's go to the hospital." I heard Jimin's voice which came out a bit loud and worried as I took a glance at him and then at Ari before placing her on the stretcher as the staff pulled the stretcher inside the ambulance while I didn't let go of her ruddy hand even for a second, "Everything will be fine. Nothing will happen to you."

The doctor placed the oxygen mask around her nose and mouth when they checked her heartbeat, "Ari... please." I wiped off the tears from my cheeks as I held her hand tightly with both of mine.

I gazed at the doctor as he looked at me while pulling off the stethoscope from his neck before saying, "I am sorry. She is dead."

-

I jerked my body up from the mattress with my lips apart letting out and breathing heavily. I could sense a drop of cold sweat trickle down my temple while my impulsive heartbeat was making my heart shudder as the incident flashed in front of my eyes, repeating on loop.

"Ari... I miss you." I whispered under my breath as I pulled off the comforter from myself and placed my bare feet over the furry carpet placed underneath my feet.

The moonlight was penetrating the glass panes through the chinks of the curtains hindering the window. I placed my elbow over my thighs before resting my head on my palms.

Covering my eyes and cheeks, I stayed in that position for a while taking deep breaths in and out.

A day of marriage had already wafted in the air like a scent. I didn't see her this morning, not even taken a glimpse at her.

FEW HOURS AGO

The murky night was conquering the sky just like my heart. Getting off the seat of my car, taking a glance at the brown strap wrist watch, "Half past eleven. It's late but that doesn't matter."

I let out a sigh before sauntering inside the residence, entering the pin code, I stepped in the foyer. Meeting the amber rays out spreading through the foyer and all over the lounge.

Without caring about my surroundings and atmosphere, I made my way upstairs while holding my leather briefcase.

Sauntering through the hallways, I glanced down to the lounge and discerned a physique sitting on the dining chair while resting her arm on the wooden table with her head placed on her hand.

I squinted my eyes while my eyebrows crumpled, "What is she doing there at this hour?" I watched her back getting straight as I traveled my eyes all over the dining table and noticed the food placed in a sequence with different courses.

The creases on my forehead made their way back as I took a step near the handrail, I saw her head twitching to the side of the main door before she looked behind herself.

Her orbs looked skywards, our eyes met, I gazed down at her as she got up from the chair as in an instant I looked away as I turned around to go inside my room when I heard her voice, "I..." She said as I halted my steps on their position, "I have prepared dinner for you." She completed it.

I blinked, "There is no need to make dinner. I don't have dinner on office days. And you don't have to do chores, Mrs. Daisy is here for that." I announced before taking a glance at her visage with my side eyes, she was gazing at me with doe eyes and looking at the food placed on the dining table as I made my way inside my room.

We discussed it already yesterday that I am not expecting anything from this marriage, it's just a business deal that's all.

-

Slipping my hands off my visage, I let a deep breath out as I licked my dry lips. I glanced at the glass of water placed on the bedside table, I removed the coaster from its top before getting a hold on the glass and guzzling down a quarter glass of water.

"I won't be able to sleep now." I whispered under my breath as I raised my feet, gliding my feet in my slip ons before making my way out of the room.

I gazed at the murky atmosphere as I could make out the way down to the hallways when I caught a sight of the amber rays peeking out of the ajar door from the room ahead of mine.

"Why is the light on? Isn't she sleeping?" I whispered, I don't care. Let her do whatever she wants. I don't have anything to do with her.... And this marriage but my heart said otherwise.

I walked near her before stretching my hand to hold the knob of the door and pushing it back as I peered inside as the first thing I discerned was the lamp luminating the amber gleam, sprinkled over the floor as the moonlight entered through the sliding door of the balcony.

My eyes traveled all over the room and halted at her physique which was settled over the couch, "Why is she sleeping on the couch?" I furrowed my brows at her curled up physique on the couch. Why is she sleeping there when there is a big king sized bed placed over here?

I gulped down, protesting if I should enter the room or not and once again I listened to my heart before walking towards the lamp and turning it off.

My breaths were calm while I twitched my head to gaze at her frame once again, she was sleeping under the moonlight which was penetrating the window which was open wide while the cold gust of wind was blowing inside. Doesn't one know how to take care of oneself? I squinted my eyes gazing down at her frame on the couch.

She was fitting like a glove on the couch as if it was designed for her. I let out a deep breath, looking away, Atleast, I will close the window. I thought before making my way to the couch.
