Chapter 4

The next day Duri woke up early, she'd been having trouble sleeping and last night was no exception. She laid in bed for a while and went over last night's dinner in her head. She hadn't expected to feel that way when he shook her hand. She felt shy and got butterflies in her stomach. She let out and exacerbated sigh and put a pillow over her face hoping she'd melt into the sheets and become one with the bed. Of course she was happy that they'd agree to try and be friends, but why did her body have to react that way. It was so embarrassing.

Eventually she decided that falling back asleep wasn't going to happen and rolled out bed. She made her way downstairs and found Jae in the kitchen making breakfast like always, the thing was if she was still cooking that meant Minho was still home. She wasn't wanting to avoid him, friends don't avoid each other, but after what happened last night when they shook hands she was nervous to see him.

"Good morning, Jae" She said walking in to the kitchen and sitting at the island. "What'cha making?" She asked.

"You know, I like this new you, the old you never ate my food for some reason." She said smiling and putting a plate of scrambled eggs, sausage, and fruit in front of me.

"Why not?" She asked confused, what did she eat if she wasn't eating Jae's food?

"Something about watching your figure" She rolled her eyes and turned back around to fill another plate.

"Wow, I was boring." Duri replied as she popped a piece of melon in her mouth. "Your food is amazing." She shrugged as she dug into the scrambled eggs.

"Good morning, Minho" Jae said as he entered the kitchen.

Duri went rigid for a moment before she remembered they were trying to be friends. "Good morning" She said quietly to him as he sat down next to her with his own food. Duri was happy that at least he left a stool between them. She didn't think she could handle him being that close this early in the morning.

"You're never up this early" He said as he started to eat.

"Because I was avoiding you, doesn't mean I wasn't awake." She replied smiling at him. "We're trying to be friends, remember?" Her smile was starting to become an addiction for him. Her eyes would sparkle and her face would light up, and it made him give her a slight side smile back at her.

"Right. I'll be home earlier tonight if you want to do dinner again." He said not looking at her, "Friends eat together, right?"

"They do, I'll be here. Not like I've got anywhere to go." She smiled. He couldn't help but feel excited, something about the new version of Duri was turning his entire world on it's head. After Choa he promised himself one thing. That he'd never let himself get emotionally involved with anyone again, because nothing lasts forever so why start something if it's only temporary and causes you pain in the end. Duri though was pulling at his heart strings and as scared as he was to fully feel how he was feeling, he also didn't want to stop.

Duri watched him as he left and couldn't help but smile a little to herself as she thought about that side smile smirk thing he did and how it made her heart jump a little. Just when she realized she was staring at his back as he left, she realized Jaw was giving her a look and smiling. She instantly looked directly at Jae. "We're friends, Jae Woo. That's all."

"Mmhmm. That's not what I seeeee" She laughed and finished her own breakfast as I put my plate in the sink and went about my day hoping it would go quickly so I could see Minho again.

A couple weeks later as they sat at the dinner table, she decided that twenty questions would apparently be entertaining. Every time she tried to think of another question she would bit her lip and squint at him like she was trying to see something that wasn't there.

"Favorite color?" She asked glancing down at her ramyeon and taking a bite before looking up at him expectantly.

"That's the best question you could come up with?" he laughed.

"Yes, answer." She insisted while laughing back at him.

"Mint green." He replied taking another bite of his food. The nights they got to eat together were his favorite nights of the week.

"That's not what I'd thought you'd say!" She said surprised. "Most guys are always into black or blue or red. So boring."

He looked up at her pretending to be shocked, "Duri. How dare you judge me like that." he almost spit out his food when he heard her try to laugh but it came out as more of a snort.

"Oh my god. I really just snorted at the dinner table." She said hiding her face in her hands. He swallowed his food quickly and couldn't help laughing at her.

"Ok, my turn." He said trying to think of a good question, something he'd been wanting to know. He wished right now that she could remember so much more. He was getting to a point where he just wanted to know everything he could about her. "Favorite ice cream flavor?" He asked, it seemed like a good transition from her question to his.

"Strawberry" She said not even thinking for a second before answering. His eyebrows went up surprised.

"Mine too. Good choice." He said as they finished their food.

"I have one more question" she asked as Jae Woo took their dishes from the table and went back in the kitchen.

"Shoot" He said folding his arms on the table and leaning forward.

"There's this new movie on Netflix I was going to watch, but I figured I'd ask you if you wanted to watch it with me. It is Friday after all...." She paused for a second. Did it sound like she was asking him out? "...as friends of course."

"Of course. I haven't watched a movie in a really long time" He was excited. They usually had dinner and then went their own separate ways for the night, but tonight he got extra time with her. Minho smiled to himself as he got up from the table and followed her to the living room.

By the time they were halfway through the movie Duri had fallen asleep on his shoulder. He wasn't sure he even knew what was happening at this point because all he could think about was her. He could hear her slow and even breathing as she moved slightly in her sleep and wrapped both of her arms around his right upper arm.

Just as, who Minho guessed was the main character, got to the final show down with who he guessed was the bad guy, Duri woke up. He was disappointed, he was enjoying being that close to her. "Did I really just fall asleep and miss the whole thing?" She asked as she rubbed her eyes.

"Pretty much." He said nodding and looking over at her. Her long hair was a little messy and her eyes were still halfway open and sleepy looking. It almost took his breath away seeing her like that. She leaned against him for the rest of the movie, and by the time the credits started he couldn't think straight anymore.

"Ok, I think it's past my bedtime..." Duri said as she stood up and stretched putting her arms over head. Seeing the small bit of skin that peeked out from under her shirt almost drove him crazy.

"Yeah, me too. I don't even know the last time I was up this late." He laughed as she turned off the TV.

They headed up the stairs and by the time they got to the top Minho did something he didn't think he'd ever do. "Duri?" He said before she walked to her side of the house. She turned around and looked at him. He reached out and gently grabbed the bottom of her shirt and pulled her in towards him until they were practically touching. She looked up at him as he put a hand to her cheek and kissed her. Explosions went off all over his body as she put her hands on his chest. Her lips tasted like candy and he felt himself melt into the kiss before he slowly pulled away from her and looked down at her. Her cheeks were pink, but she didn't look upset. He wanted to kiss her again, he didn't want to stop kissing her now.

"I'm sorry..." He said stepping back and shaking his head.

"For what?" She said smiling and slowly walking backwards towards her room. Minho shoved his hands in the pockets of his jeans and smiled back at her before walking towards his room.

When Duri got to her room she shut the door and slid down to the floor in shock. Did that really just happen? She smiled as she touched her lips that were still tingling after the kiss. She didn't think that was going to happen. She'd have been happy if they were just friends that lived in the same house, but this changed everything. She just hoped that when she remembered everything that she'd remember this too, cause this was too good to forget.

Minho threw himself backwards on his bed and smiled again to himself. He rubbed his face with both hands and sat up. He had no idea where that came from. Every wall and boundary he'd set up for himself just got torn down with a wrecking ball named Duri, but he welcomed it. Seeing how they were with each other now made him wonder why he hadn't just tried to get to know her sooner. Like Duri had said before, even if they never fell in love they could at least be friends, but Minho wanted more then that now and he could tell by the way that she kissed him back that she wanted that too.
