Chapter 11

The next morning, before even opening his eyes snuggled his face into her neck and pulled her as close to him as he could. He didn't want to fully wake up yet. He wanted to just stay in the bubble they were in this morning. When he finally decided to open his eyes light was streaming in the window by his bed, and normally that would have annoyed him, but he was in too good of a mood to really care. He looked down at Duri as she slept in his arms, and snuggled back up to her and was just about to fall back asleep himself. Duri stirred in her sleep and slowly rolled over to face him before openeing her eyes and squinting against the bright sunlight in the room.

The two of them laid there awake for a time, tangled up in bedsheets and each other. Neither of them wanting to move. They didn't say anything to each other, but it didn't feel like there was a need to. It was a happy and contented silence that they both let themselves sink into before Jae was knocking on Minho's bedroom door.

"Breakfast, Minho. I'll go wake up Duri." She said as they heard her start to walk across the landing to Duri's room.

"I'm in here, Jae!" Duri yelled half asleep. "I'm not getting up" Minho laughed as he pictured the look that was probably on Jae's face.

"Well, then get your butt down here too. I don't cook breakfast every morning for my health." She chided, letting out a small chuckle.

Minho laid back down in the bed and focused all his attention back on Duri. She had her arms sleepily wrapped around his wait, and her head against his chest. He couldn't help playing with her hair while she took her time trying to wake up.

"We should get up" He whispered in her ear.
She slightly lifted her head to look at Minho, "I love you." She said while he put a hand to her cheek. Smiling down at her as he kissed her forehead and tried to muster whatever it was he needed to stand up.

"I love you too, now get up" He laughed as she slowly sat up and her hair stuck up in different places all over her head.

"Don't laugh at me!" She said cracking a smile. "I was comfortable." She pouted.

"I know you were, baby, I'm sorry." Her face softened when she looked back at him.

Slightly smiling "Did you just call me baby?"

"Maybe." He said doing that side smirk she loved. The smile that had been subtly playing on her lips exploded in a grin that made her whole face light up.

"I like it" She replied getting up and kissing him. She wrapped the duvet around her self and waddled into the hallway to her room to get dressed. Minho laughed at her watching her try to walk while she was swallowed up in the black king size duvet.

"You're gonna trip on that." He warned as he stood at the door frame trying not to laugh. Not even a moment later she tripped and fell quickly becoming a giant pile of blankets. Deserpately trying to hold back his laughter, he picked her up and carried her the last few feet to her door and put her down.

"I've never been more embarrassed in my life." She said holding her head up high in embarrassment and quickly walking in to her room. Minho started laughing again as she kicked the duvet back into the hallway through the cracked door.

Heading downstairs he saw Jae just finishing up the last bits of breakfast.

"So last night went well, I'm guessing" She said wiggling her eyebrows at Minho.

"Even better. So much better" He said plopping himself down at the kitchen island as Jae put food in front of him.

Jae smiled to herself, it had been a very long time since she'd seen Minho as happy as he was this morning. His eyes were sparkling and he laughed at Jae Woo's jokes, which were notoriously awful and not usually very funny. Just as Minho was starting to eat, Duri came downstairs and plopped down next to him. This time not leaving a seat between them but sitting as close as she could. They ate their breakfast together, quietly laughing at little jokes they made between them that only they would understand. While Jae Woo leaned against the sink and watched them with a contented smile on her face. The little Minho that she'd help raise had been through so much the last few years that she thought her little boy was gone forever. Who knew the girl he was forced to marry would be the one to wake him up and bring the old Minho back that everyone had missed so dearly.

"I have something to take care of today, but I'll be back in a few hours. I promise." She said looking over a Minho as he finished his food in record time. He kissed Duri on the temple before he got up.

"Good luck" He said knowing she was going to talk to Taeyeon about their argument.

"What're you doing today?" Duri asked looking at him with curiousity.

"I don't know. Enjoy my day off?" He replied. She could tell by the look on his face that he knew exactly what he was doing today, but she didn't want to pry. He was happy, she figured she'd let happy Minho do whatever his little heart desired. Shrugging her shoulder she smiled at him as he went back upstairs.

Duri sat in her car in Taeyeon's driveway. She knew she had to have this talk with him, but that didn't mean she was happy about it. Eventually, Tae came out of his house and stood in front of her car. Waiting for her to finally come in and talk to him. "here goes nothing" she whispered to herself before finally getting out.

"Hey" She said to him as he started to go back inside.

"Hi" He said back half heartedly.

"You wanted to talk. So talk" She said crossing her arms and sitting down.

Tae sat down across from her and wrung his hands. "I...You know I've always had your best interest at heart, Duri. You've always meant a lot to me and I just don't want to see you get hurt. I just get a vibe from him that he's going to just wake up one day and want another woman. I just--"

"Stop, Tae" She interrupted holding a hand up. "First of all, you don't know him like I do, you've never taken the time to really get to know who he is underneath all of the exterior that he shows the world. I know you. I know there's something else behind this. There's something that's making you feel this way. What is it?"

Tae sat there in a long silence before he finally spoke. "So what if there is? Nothing is going to change how you feel. You'll never care about me the way I care about you..."

There it was. The one thing she was hoping he wouldn't say.

"Tae." She whispered, unsure of what to say, "Not only am I in a marriage I'm not allowed to leave...I'm in love with him. I don't want anyone else. I just want him. He loves me, I can't just ignore all of that. I do want to be with him. What the future holds I don't know. Who knows, if you had said something a year ago I would have possibly considered it. You can't drop this bomb on me now and expect me to leave him, and you can't keep hating him either. You need to take the time to get to know him. Please. For me?"

Tae sadly shook his head. Duri knew he understood, but it didn't make it any easier to break his heart. All she could do was hope that their friendship would remain the same and he would allow her to still be his friend.
"Wrong place, wrong time, huh?" He said sadly looking up at her wiping the tear from his face and trying to smile at her.

"I'll always be here for you Tae. I'm still your best friend. That will never change. You'll find someone, it's just not me." She said kneeling in front of him and trying to cheer him up.

"It's ok, Duri. I understand. I know the chances of you feeling anything for me were slim. I'll survive." He said ruffling her hair.

"Ok. Good. Friends?" She said standing up and reaching out her hand. Tae stood up and hugged her isntead "Friends" he smiled at her.

He'd been hiding this room in the house for a while. Jae knew it was here. It was down a long empty hallway. He'd only been in the room once since he moved in, but something about today made him want to use it again. He was pretty sure at some point he told Duri it was just a storage closet, but that was very far from the truth.

Opening the white door he stepped inside. Wood floors, mirrors on one wall, and a large window at one end. It was a dance studio. The last time he'd been in this room was a little over a year ago, when he first moved in. It had, in fact, been the only reason he bought this house over the others he'd seen. At the time he wasn't sure he'd ever use it, but today was the day he would.

He took a few minutes just sitting on the floor in the middle of the room. He scrolled through his list of music before stopping on a Stray Kids song he could try to start with. He was hoping that at least muscle memory would kick in since it was a song he'd done quite a few times before.

Stretching and warmups were done and now was time for the hard part. He connected his phone to the bluetooh speakers in the room and heard the opening of Back Door, listening a couple times through trying to picture the choreography in his head.

Trying to remember the entire song seemed impossible for the first two hours. He could remember up to the second verse and then his mind just went blank. Finally, he broke down and watched the old music video on his phone to refresh his memory. By the time he heard Duri get home he'd danced through the whole song twice. He was, of course, currently laying down on the floor in utter exhaustion. But he was proud of himself for not being quite as bad as he was afraid of.

"Minho?" Duri yelled into the house looking for him.

"Down here!" He yelled from the floor of the studio, his body still recovering from the last run through. He heard footsteps coming down the hallway before she popped her head into the room.

"Why are you in the......closet? Ok, this is not a closet" She said as she put two and two together.

"No, it's not." Minho laughed from the floor.

"Have you been doing this all day?" She said walking in and sitting down against the mirrored wall.

"Pretty much" He said still laying flat on the floor.

"Are you alive?" She joked while she watched him slowly catch his breath.

"Barely" He laughed as he finally sat up.

"You were dancing..." She said in awe looking at him while he stood up and walked over to his water bottle.

"Ha! Badly. Very badly. But yeah."

Duri got up off the floor and skipped towards him, only to wrap her arms around his waist. "You were dancing." She said again more sure this time.

"Yes, we established that." He laughed again.

"I wanna see!" She said smiling up at him excitedly.

"No." He said immediately. "Not today. Let me get a little better before that happens ok?"

She stood back and crossed her arm pouting. "Oh, fine. You stink by the way."

He threw his head back and laughed at her. "I'm gonna go shower. I'll meet you in the dining room for dinner, ok?" He said as he kissed her quickly and left the room.

Duri stood in the middle of the studio and looked around her taking it all in. She knew last night had been amazing, but she didn't realize that it would get Minho back into a dance studio. That it would cause him to go back to something he'd grown up loving so dearly. She smiled to her herself and slowly left the room, taking another really good look at it before turning out the lights and shutting the door.
