Chapter 4: Kade
I had some guests arriving today to discuss pack business. They were some top notch guests and I didn't know how to clean up the entire office. I wanted to leave a damn good impression on them. I was trying to figure out how to manage the cluster on my desk when Zoey came in. The Inclusio night was tomorrow and I had already informed the pack through the mind link.
"Need help?" Zoey asked.
"No thanks. I am perfectly capable of doing the work myself!" I huffed angrily.
I didn't need anybody's help. I was an Alpha and we did our own work by ourselves.
"I think you need help," Zoey said.
Before I could protest, She had vanished through the door only to come back with a dusting cloth and broom.
"At what time are the guests arriving?" Zoey asked.
I just stood there beside my desk for a minute trying to figure out who Zoey actually was. And how did she knew I had guests arriving?
"How do you know?" I finally asked.
"I am a wolf too, you know. In case you have forgotten," Zoey said.
"At 12. They will be having lunch here," I said.
"Shit. Why the hell didn't you tell me sooner? Do you always do things last minute?" She asked, pausing in her cleaning.
"Mind your own business," I scowled.
"I am minding my own business. What are you going to do about the lunch?" She asked.
"Take them out," I shrugged.
"And who might they be?" She asked.
"The Slayers," I said.
"And you are taking them out for lunch?" Her voice raised as she panicked.
The Slayers were the high ranked wolves chosen by the packs to maintain peace and harmony within the werewolf world. They were exactly like enforcers but with a bit more brutality than needed. I kind of could understand Zoey's panic.
"Chill. They are used to it," I rolled my eyes.
"You don't speak to them that way!" Zoey argued.
"I can speak anyway I want. You are not my dictator," I glowered at her.
"There's so much I need to get done!" She mumbled to herself completely ignoring me.
Marching up to her, I grabbed her arm and pulled her around to face me.
"What?" Zoey snapped.
"Watch who you are talking to!" I growled loudly.
Her eyes widened at my tone and she immediately lowered her head. I felt a tad bit bad for shouting at her but I can't help it. I get angry very easily.
"Sorry Alpha," Zoey whispered, but I was able to catch what she said.
"No I am sorry. You are only trying to help. I tend to get angry a lot. You can ask Julia," I said, removing my hand from her arm.
"It's ok. What should I make for lunch?" She asked.
"I dunno," I shrugged.
"Is it ok if I make roasted chicken, rice, some veges, oh and pasta or lasagnia if they like it. Of course, I can make appetizers and salads for the first course. Drinks too," she said.
"And how can you make this in two hours?" I asked, as she thought out loud.
"I hosted large dinners at my previous pack alone. This would be a feet compared to those dinners," she said.
"You won't have to work alone. I will send Julia down to help you," I said.
"Oh no. I am perfectly capable of doing my work myself," she said.
I felt a sense of deja vu at those words.
"You need to accept others help," I said.
I felt such a hypocrite saying this.
"Then you need to accept that just because you are a wolf of a higher status doesn't mean that you need to do all the work by yourself," Zoey said.
To that I had no good retort and for the next hour or so Zoey and I finished cleaning my office. I went upstairs to my room to change as she went to the kitchen to start making lunch. My muscles seemed stiff and sore from all the work and the cold water felt marvelous on my skin.
Julia help Zoey in the kitchen would you? I asked.
Why? I am busy with Zach, Julia said.
I am having the Slayers for lunch and she insisted on making the whole course herself, I said.
The whole course? Is she out of her mind? And you must have asked her to cook! She huffed.
No I didn't. I had already planned to take them to the Italian Restaurant but she insisted, I said.
Fine. I will go see what she's making but you owe me, she said.
Thanks Jules, I said.
I was back at the office with the delicious smell of different flavored foods wafting to my nose and making my mouth salivate. I couldn't let such a small thing get to my head. I needed this meeting to go my way.
I had expensive piece of land on my territory which was located on the suburbs and the Slayers wanted that piece of land to build a club. I was against that because that piece of land was a family park and families enjoyed going there. If I couldn't have the park then I wanted to build a grocery store to facilitate my members.
At exact 12 noon, I felt that sensation when someone enters a territory with permission. It's just a shiver with a static in the mind link telling me someone new has arrived.
There were four Slayers with their team of protectors. The first one to get out of the car was the Head Slayer.
Cameron Lynch. You could never make direct eye contact with him. He was tall and buffy with muscles all over his body. He had bronze hair and brown eyes. His mere presence was frightening. He walked the earth as if every bit of land belonged to him. He was headstrong. And if you angered him then you were a goner. He was 30 years old and alone.
The next to get out of the car was Geoff Berkley. He was what you call a beta Slayer. His prescence was dominating as Cameron but he was somewhat light and friendly. Someone you could share a laugh with. He was 34 years old with a mate and three kids whom he loved to death.
The other two were Mathew Hugh and Salvator Mckenzie. Both of them were around the same age. Although Mathew was the younger of the two at 29 years of age. He was also a light person to talk to despite the other three. Salvator was always stiff and curt in his talks. You could never think or know what his next move or word might be.
"Afternoon Slayers. I hoped you had a good ride," I greeted them.
"That we did. I hope we can settle our dispute once and for all," Cameron said coldly.
He always spoke coldly. Even if you asked him about the time or something entirely random he would answer coldly. Perks of being a Slayer I guess. Note the sarcasm.
"I hope so. Please come on in. I hope you are hungry. Lunch will be ready in a few minutes," I said.
"I thought that the Potent pack Alpha always took us out?" Young Slayer (Mathew Hugh) asked.
"Today I have lunch arranged here. All home cooked," I said, happy for once that my new tactic worked.
Once we were seated in the office I said, "So gentlemen what have you thought?"
"We came here to buy the land," Cameron said.
"What? No! I told you I am not up for buying the land," I said, trying hard not to work up my anger.
"That land is the most fertile we have ever seen. You are only wasting it," Salvator said.
"There are other packs where you could divert your attention to," I said.
"Don't try to change our minds," Cameron gave a warning growl.
Damien whimpered at the back of my mind and I decided to keep my mouth shut.
"As we were saying," Cameron began, as he laid a piece of paper on the table.
At that moment a kmock sounded on the door.
"Yes?" I called.
The door opened and in came Zoey with drinks. Her head was bowed and she didn't look up from her spot nor did she moved.
"Who's this?" Geoff asked.
"I have never seen her here before," Cameron said.
"She just came here," I said.
"She smells like a rogue," Mathew said, sniffing her out.
"Her Inclusio night is tomorrow," I said.
I hoped they stopped asking questions about Zoey and get back to work. However, my wish went unanswered.
"What's your name little one?" Cameron asked.
Shit! I thought to myself.
There was an unexplainable feeling inside me.
"Zoey sir," Zoey answered, still not looking up.
"You can place our drinks," Cameron ordered.
Zoey moved farword with grace before setting the tray down.
"Lunch will be ready in half an hour," Zoey said, but didn't move from her spot.
"You can go now," Cameron said.
"You earned quite a submissive," he said, once Zoey was gone.
"She's not my submissive. She's just a pack member who will be included tomorrow night," I said.
Chris was right next to me sitting still and keeping quite. The other time the Slayers were here; he had gotten into an argument with them and had been given a warning for next time.
"So where were we?" I asked.
"She's not your mate is she?" Salvator asked.
"You would have known if she was," I said.
"Right back to business," Cameron said.
"I wonder what it would feel like to make her my submissive?" Geoff mused.
I slammed my hand down on the table causing the glasses to rattle.
"THAT'S ENOUGH! I didn't bring you here for harrassing my members!" I shouted.
"Bro calm down," Chris placed his hand on my shoulder which I shrugged off.
"Are you sure she's not your mate?" Geoff asked.
"Shut up and concentrate on the work," I grumbled.
"I am letting this attitude go by Kade. But head the warning. Next time I won't be so linient," Cameron said.
"Sorry Slayer," I muttered.
"So as I was saying before we should make a club here," Cameron said.
"I don't think that's feasible. Especially in the residential area," I said.
"Why not? That would give us lots of money," Cameron said.
"My members love the park," I said.
"But it's no use. The land is going to waste," Geoff said.
"We can always build a supermarket," I said.
"What use a supermarket would be?" Cameron scoffed, sipping his drink.
Another knock sounded and Zoey's small timit voice said, "lunch is ready Alphas."
"Let's finish this discussion over lunch," Cameron said, standing up.
Phew! Long chapter so I divided the meeting into two parts! Hoped you liked it! What do you think of the Slayers? By the way, did I mention Zoey's wolf name before? If so please comment since I tend to forget at times!
It was raining here at my place. I love the rain! It seems so peaceful and calm. Also a great way to be able to write!😛
Don't forget to vote and comment! 🤗❤
