Chapter 27: Zoey

I was feeling butterflies in my stomach. Currently I was standing in front of my closet trying to figure out what to wear. Kade hadn't specifically said where he was taking me and I wanted to dress up for the right place.

"Why are you standing in front of your closet?" Julia asked, barging into my room.
"Trying to decide what to wear," I replied.

I had a staring match with my clothes hoping they could tell me to chose itself.

"You don't need to fret anymore," Julia said, coming to stand beside me.
"Why?" I raised my eyebrow at her.
"I have the perfect dress for you to wear!" She exclaimed excitedly.
"And where did that perfect dress came from?" I asked.
"Stop being so cryptic and come on!" Julia exclaimed.
"Nuh uh. Where are we going?" I asked.
"My place. You still have to see my house," she said.
"Is there a plan of you and Kade which I don't know about?" I narrowed my eyes.
"No!" Julia exclaimed, quickly.

Too quickly for my liking and I narrowed my eyes at her.

"I promise. Now come on before Kade drags you to god knows where in the attire you are wearing!" Julia rolled her eyes. (Too many exclaimation marks?😂).

I cringed at that description and let Julia drag me out of the house. Several people nodded their heads at me in greeting. I felt a little overwhelmed at their courtsey towards me but didn't let me bother it.

Julia's house was nice and colorful just like herself. I liked it; the setting brought a feel of sunshine and happiness. I instantly longed for a house like this but knew it was not possible. Alphas didn't leave the pack house. It was their connection to the pack. I couldn't help but wish though.

I stood outside Julia's bedroom feeling uneasy about stepping inside.

"The door will not bite you know," Julia said, sarcastically.
"Geez. I know that!" I rolled my eyes.
"Well I did thought it would take a year for you to come inside," she said.
"Har har. Very funny," I said, before stepping inside.
"How do you like this dress?" She asked, holding up a dress.

It was green in color which matched exactly with my eyes. It would make my eyes pop out. The dress was beautiful but I didn't think that I would be wearing that dress because it was a bit too revealing for me.

"It's nice... I trailed off.

I didn't want to sound like a whiny bitch when Julia was only trying to help me. But then again I wasn't too sure that the dress would be appropriate for me.

"But?" Julia prompted.
"It's too revealing," I said, biting my lower lip.
"Oh come on. It's your date Zoey. You are not going on a pack business," she said.
"I don't know if it would suit me," I said.
"You are wearing this dress and that's final. Now get your ass moving back to the pack house. You need to get ready," she said.

On the way I tried to talk Julia out of it but my attempts were futile. I took a quick shower and changed into Julia's dress which fitted me nicely. It brought my curves very nicely making me look a bit older and sophisticated.

"Wow," I said in awe looking at myself in the mirror.
"I knew you would love it!" Julia exclaimed.

Julia did my hair and makeup next making me look a whole lot differently.

"Ta da! Now you are all set," Julia said.
"Thank you so much! I feel and look totally different!" I exclaimed.
"Psh! It wasn't much. I enjoyed playing dress up with you," she grinned.

A knock sounded on the door and by the smell I knew it was Kade. My nerves started to get the best of me as my palms began to get sweaty. My stomach tightened into knots and I wanted to just hide in a corner.

"Now you can come in," Julia said.

The door opened and Kade came in dressed in a black suit. So it must be a formal place where we must be going. His black hair were neatly brushed and gelled back making me want to run my hands through them. His jaw looked clean and recently shaven. His suit fitted his muscular chest nicely making me want to drool.

"Now can I have your attention for one moment before you two think about ravishing each other?" Julia asked.

I blushed a crimson red as Kade smirked making me blush even more if that was possible.

"Now I know this is your first outing so you don't need to have an open link with the pack. Chris will handle it perfectly fine," Julia said.
"That's it?" Kade asked.

His voice had a bit of huskiness lying underneath making me want to squirm.

"Yeah. Don't have too much fun if you know what I mean!" Julia laughed.

Kade gave an annoyed growl before taking my arm and walking us out. I felt the tingles errupting on my skin where our arms touched. As we got into his car my nerves increased and I turned my face towards the window so as not to stare at the amazing species beside me.

"You know you don't need to look away," Kade said.

There was a hint of laughter in his voice making me narrow my eyes at him.

"Are you laughing at me?" I asked.
"Me? Laughing? Absolutely not," Kade said.
"Good," I huffed.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"It's a surprise Zoey," he said.
"What if I don't like surprises?" I asked.

My question made him stop the car and look at me.

"You actually don't like surprises?" Kade asked.

His face held worry and uneasiness which he tried to hide.

"I was just joking. Do you have to take everything seriously?" I asked, giving him a smile.
"Geez. For one second there you actually gave me a heart attack," he said.
"As if you would get one," I scoffed.
"Why I am flattered that you think so highly of me," he smirked.

I could actually feel him smirk without looking at him.

That's because it's the mate bond, my wolf said.

I smiled. A year later I would have never guessed that my life could turn for the better. After a while I noticed that we were driving out of the main town.

"Where exactly are we going?" I asked, worry lacing my voice.
"Relax. I am not going to kill you," Kade said, squeezing my hand in reassurance.

The road we were on now was dark. Only a few street lights were on and there was no traffic over there. I didn't like this feeling one bit. I knew something wrong was going to happen.

"Can't we just go someplace noisy? I don't get a good feeling about this," I said, eyeing our surroundings varily.
"Don't worry. I will keep you safe," Kade said.

I knew that Kade would keep me safe. I had no doubt about this. But I also couldn't shake of the feeling that something was wrong. Perhaps I was just feeling anxiety. When Kade parked the car on the road and told me to get out I just wanted to lock the car door and stay inside. But I also didn't want to ruin Kade's surprise by acting like a baby.

Kade made me close my eyes as he placed his hand over them. His scent enveloped my senses making me calm knowing that he was safe and sound. We trudged through the forest until I felt Kade step away from me. I opened my eyes and gasped.

The meadow was set beautifully! There were yellow twinkling lights and a table set for two. It was like a fairy dream dinner.

"Do you like it?" Kade asked.

I turned to face him only to see him looking nervous. I did the only thing i thought was possible. I kissed him. Kade appeared shocked at my sudden advance. Heck even I was shocked at myself! He soon started kissing me back and relaxed in my arms. Our kiss however was interrupted by growls.

I felt Kade stiffen and placed his arms around me in a steal like grip. I peakedover his shoulder to see several pair of yellow eyes staring back at us. Another set of growls sounded and-
