8:rebuilding what was lost

"Stupid broken warp."

Peridot grumbled carrying a large price of the shattered warp pad in the middle of the warp room.
"First the communication hub and now this is busted again."
She placed the piece down with multiple other shattered pieces.

Peridot saw something flash in her peripheral vision, she looked over at the pillar she saw it on, she found nothing. Peridot grumbled again.
"Now I'm seeing things that aren't there..."

Peridot moved a shattered piece over to the pile of shattered warp with her 'hand', before pulling up a screen. "These crystal gems are a menace." She murmured just as a warp pad lit up behind her. Peridot turned to the warp alarmed.

"Oh, Aha! Look! I was right!" Pearl said, proudly pointing to the green gem. "My plan worked perfectly!" She yelled with a smirk. "Good morning." Steven greeted with a smile, waving at the tall green confused gem.

"What? How did you know I was here?!" Peridot asked angrily balling her 'hand' into a fist. "We found a secret way to track you and." Steven said proudly, putting his hands on his hips with a proud smile.

"And we'll never tell you how, even if you ask nicely." Steven crossed his arms, moving his head away from Peridot, smirking. "Nyeh!" Steven pulled on his eye, sticking his tounge out defiantly. "Peridot! We're here to-" Garnet's speech quickly got cut off by Pearl.

"And you'll never get away with this!" Pearl pointed a finger at Peridot. "Don't you gem have anything better to do then annoy me?" Peridot said, utterly angry, Steven tensed but didn't let it show. "Nope! We're gonna-" Amethyst too was cut off by a hastily Pearl. "Prepare to be Annoyed!"

Peridot growled. "I don't have time for this!" Peridot exclaimed making her 'hand' into a gun, powering up charge, ready to shoot. "This planet has an expiration date, and I'm not gonna stick around to find out when!" Peridot shoots, getting knocked back by the impact.

The green orb shot at the pillar, making it fall on the crystal gems. Steven summoned his shield, keeping the pillar from falling on the Crystal gems. Pearl looked at the fallen Peridot with furrowed brows.

"Uh..." Peridot looked at her makeshift gun out of fingers and chuckles, looking back at the crystal gems. "That's it! I'm taking her out." Pearl angrily said, sprinting toward the green gem.

"Pearl wait!" Garnet said, only for Pearl to ignore her and lunge at Peridot, aiming for her gem. Peridot freaked out, freezing Pearl in a green light coming from her 'hand'. Peridot gives a laugh.

"Sorry, but your going the wrong way!" Peridot flung Pearl into Steven, making the shield dissipate, with Garnet having to take it's place, holding the pillar piece with her gauntlets with a grunt.

"Get her!" Garnet growled, making Amethyst run forward. Amethyst ran forward, turning into a ball and rolling full speed at Peridot. Peridot moved out of the way last second, making Amethyst crash in the pile of shattered warp pad pieces. Amethyst brung her head up, shaking any pieces off her like a dog and growling at Peridot. Peridot, now walking on her 'hands' laughs. "You missed!" Peridot teased still laughing.

"Pearl!" Steven yelled, Pearl got up from off the boy. Steven immediately raced off.

Peridot jumped up on another warp pad, only to find it cracked, Peridot groaned. "Doesn't anything work on this crummy planet?" She yelled.

"I do!" Steven yelled, tossing his shield at her, hitting her square in the nose. "Ow!"

"Amethyst, catch!" Garnet yelled, throwing the pillar piece of the purple gem. Amethyst caught it with her whip, yelling "destory!" As she brought it down on the warp pad Peridot was on shattering it and sending Peridot through the sky, making her scream.

"I got her! I got her! I got her!" Pearl yelled, attempting to catch the falling Peridot.

Garnet backed up, desummoning her gauntlets, attempting to catch Peridot too. Pearl ran into Garnet, making them both fall, Peridot floated in the air with her fingers acting as a helicopter of sorts.

"Pearl!" Garnet yelled. "Get off me!" Pearl quickly moved off, quickly repeating her apology many times as Garnet got up. Pearl went to reach for Garnet, but quickly stopped herself.

"Wow. This is just sad." Peridot said, landing on the only working warp pad smirking widely. "I almost feel sorry for you." She said. "Nyeh!" Peridot pulled at her eye, sticking her tounge out before warping.

There was Silence as
Peridot left the galaxy warp. "Have a great weekend!" Steven smiled, waving at where Peridot was. Everyone looked at Steven. He stopped waving. "I mean, I hope her weekend is not so great."

<later>

The gems had left, only Labradorite remained.

She watched from a simple pillar, it was a wonder how they didn't see her. However Labradorite has decided that she needed to look for a new Hideout.

Perhaps she could follow where that Peridot went, she didn't know why, but she felt a sense of familiarity and maybe some security with the green gem.

However she didnt know why, so Labradorite didn't want to question it. Labradorite flew down to the floor.

She walked over to the only functional warp pad, her pale blue flats clicking on the marble floor. Labradorite stepped on the warp pad.
Labradorite breathed, and warped.

<with thy Crystal Gems>

The warp pad glowed. Everyone expect Steven looked at Pearl in a disappointing way. "Okay, I realize that was a bit of a fiasco." Pearl admitted calmly, Amethyst looked away.

"But there's a silver lining to this! Now we know for sure that we can track her every movement!" Pearl says joyfully moving to the escape pod in the middle of the living room. Whenever she uses the warp system, her escape pod will instantly detect exactly where she is!"

Pearl smiled as she crouched, putting her head in the escape pod to tinker with it. "It's only a matter of time until we catch her." Garnet came up behind her as she tinkered with the escape pod more.

"And when we do, we'll be able to close this chapter and finally move one, right?" Pearl looked over at Garnets blank face. They looked at eachother for a bit. Steven and Amethyst looked at eachother the pressure crushing them. Amethyst groaned, the pressure becoming to much.

"Isn't there something that maybe the two of you might need to talk about?" Amethyst urged, smiling awkwardly. The escape pod glowed green before anyone else could talk, Pearl turned her attention back to the escape pod.

"It's Peridot." A screen popped up in the escape pod, Pearl put her hand on it, showing a map of the globe in a hologram coming from her gem. "Look, this is where she is." There was a mark on the map.

"We got her for sure this time." Pearl says, the hologram of the globe disappearing as Pearl removes her hand going right back to the warp pad.

"If she thinks she has git the upper hand, then she has another thing coming, and that's us!" Pearl says enthusiastically marching back to the warp pad Steven and Amethyst look at Garnet, who walked to the warp pad her hands balled up in a tight fist. Steven looked at Amethyst.

"Well atleast Pearl's optimistic." He smiles. "It won't help." Amethyst says furrowing her eyebrows. "She could hand Peridot over on a silver platter, but it won't make up for the stunt she pulled to get Garnet to fuse with her." Amethyst says, walking over to the warp pad with the rest of the gems. Steven looks away with furrowed brows. "Steven, let's go!" Garnet says Steven looked up.

<with Peridot>

"Curse old gem technology!" Peridot growled, as she tried to access the cameras, she just hoped pressing buttons would get her somewhere. "Curse those crystal gems." Peridot began to mutter pressing more buttons, nothing happens. "Gah! Curse this old technology!?" Peridot grabbed her face, dragging it down. "This is impossible!" Peridot groaned. "Perhaps I can help..." Peridot looked behind her catching eyes with a pale blue gem.

"Just who are you exactly?" Peridot sneered, the gem took a step forward. "I am Labradorite." Labradorite says, moving forward until she's next to Peridot. Labradorite looks back at the controls Peridot's struggling with.

"May I see that?" Labradorite pointed to the controls, Peridot backed away facing the camera, saying "go for it." As she tried to activate the camera. Labradorite nodded, facing the controls again, it felt familiar, but it also felt foreign.

Labradorite tapped a few controls and the camera flipped on.

Labradorite moved out the way and Peridot took her place to see what was going on at the entrance of the ship. It was The crystal gems. Peridot laughs as she sees them.

"You gems really are as dull as dirt." Peridot says, looking down at the camera, knowing it two way. "You're the dull one if you think you can fly this wreck!" Pearl shoots back, however the communication came out a bit jumbled on Peridots line.

"What? Can you speak louder, some of these communicators are gunked up." Peridot states, looking back at Labradorite who was still tinkering with buttons. Steven grabbed a diamond shaped thing and speaks into it. "Pearl says, you're the dull one if you think you can fly this wreck!" Peridot processes what came through and laughs.

"Fly? I'm not using this vessel to fly." Peridot snickers, Labradorite giggles at the essuption, not enough for it to be picked up on the mic however. "I'm using it to trap you!" Peridot says as Labradorite slams her hand on a button, making the doors slam shut.

-

"Isn't this nice?" Peridot says, "no more crystal gems running around, messing with my plans, destroying my things." She seemed to talk to someone else in the room with her as her eyes drifted off to her left. "Looks like I've got you just where I want you." Peridot's eyes seemed to go back to the screen. "How does it feel to be so easily outsmarted you clods!?" Peridot smirked.
-
"No..."
The mic seemed to bearly pick up.
"Hey, uh... this is Amethyst. I don't appreciate being called a clod, you clo-" Amethyst was cut off by Peridot. "Enough talk." Peridot smirked.

"Prepare yourselves for Annihilation!" Peridot presses a button, seemingly forgetting that the only one who knows how the ship works is right next to her, however the gems seemed to believe it for a while, looking around as Peridot looked off screen again.

"Oh." Labradorite moved in the middle of her arms, her ribbon just bearly showing on the camera. As she pressed the right button something in the entrance snapped on. "Aha! It works!" Peridot was surprised to say the least.

Multiple of the glowing things proceeded to surround the Crystal Gems. "Yes!" Peridot exclaimed as they started shooting at the Crystal gems.
"Die! die! die! die! die! Die! Die!"

Peridot looked at the other cameras, they seemed to get out of the entrance and into a hallway of sorts. "Are there any traps that can Annihilate those crystal gems?" Peridot asked, looking down at Labradorite, who looked back up at Peridot and nodded, pressing another button.

Spikes start to stab at the crystal gems, forcing them to move. "Spikes! How do you like my Spikes!?" Peridot asked sarcastically as the Crystal Gems ran.
Soon they reached the end of the spike filled hallway.

Labradorite added a Peridot hologram at the end of it. Once she saw it, the Pearl immediately started to attack it. Once the fusion and the rest of the gems were around the vicinity Labradorite pressed the button, springing the trap. The floor opened, making the gems fall in. Once the two gems fell in the box, Labradorite closed the opening, making the other two gems fall down watching the box from the outside, looking in. Labradorite listened in on their conversation.

"Garnet, I'm sorry!" The big fusion must be Garnet. "Things weren't supposed to turn out this way." The Pearl says her voice seemed to be cracking. The fusion, Garnet, punched the wall with her giant gauntlets.

"We'll get out of here somehow." The fusion says, her voice steady, unwavering the Pearl sighs. "That's not what I mean." She says, her voice gaining less stability. "I really wanted wanted catch Peridot to make up for what I did." The Pearl sighed again.

"I wanted to prove to you that-" the Pearl stuttered as Garnet put her gauntlets away. "That everything could go back to normal." The Pearl admitted, hugging herself. "Catching Peridot won't make things go back to normal." Garnet says "this isn't about Peridot."

'It's about fusion.' Labradorite wanted to say, she wanted to bonk the Pearl on the head for not realizing that Fusion is a really touchy subject for gems that stay fused. Labradorite hovered a hand over her gem. Or the gems that have no choice.
"What are you doing? They'll shatter both of us if they catch us! Crush them!" Peridot barked, Labradorite jumped slightly, pushing the button that made the box jump to life.

The walls started to close in on them.
The two gems tried to keep the box from closing.
"Please! Tell me! How can I make you forgive me!" The Pearl yelled. "You can't! You lied to me!" The fusion yelled back. "You need to learn that there are consequences to your actions!" She said. "I'm sorry!" The Pearl apologized again.

"I..I couldn't help myself..!" She justified, Garnets foot slammed against the wall by the Pearl's head. "I don't want to hear your excuses!" Garnet yelled. "But it's true! No matter how hard I try to be strong like you," the Pearl's voice got softer.

"I'm just a Pearl." The Pearl said, squeezing her eyes shut. "I'm useless on my own.." she murmured, a tear falling down her face. "I need someone to tell me what to do." Her voice was bearly a whisper.

The box stopped closing on itself. "What happened now!?" Peridot asked looking over Labradorite's shoulder. "It seems something has stopped the box from closing." Labradorite said, "I know that but what!" Labradorite shrugged, before looking back at the camera.

"When we fuse, I can feel what it's like to be you. Confident and secure and complete. You're perfect." The Pearl said looking away from the fusion. "You're the perfect relationship. You're always together. I just- I wanted to be apart of that." She whispered.

"You're wrong." The Pearl looked at Garnet taken by surprise. "I'm not as strong as you think." Garnet admits, looking down at her two gems.

"I-I fell apart over this. Ruby and Sapphire were in turmoil over how you deceived me! I came undone." She admitted, Labradorite remembered meeting the angry counter part of the fusion, her name was Ruby she remembered.

"It's not easy being in control, I have weaknesses too. But I choose not to let them consume me. I struggle to stay strong, because I know the impact I have on everyone." The Pearl looked away from the fusion, shutting her eyes.

"Please understand, Pearl, you have an impact too. There are times when I look up to you for strength." The Pearl looked up at Garnet, surprised she would even say a thing like that. "You are your own gem. You control your destiny."

Labradorite placed her hand on her gem, tracing the cracks running along the surface, her eyes locked onto the screen.

"Not me. Not Rose. Not Steven. But you must choose to be strong so we can move forward, so I can trust you again." Garnet finished her speech, Pearl shut her eyes again, blinking back the tears that made its way to the surface. "I understand. I can't give up anymore." Pearl says shaking her head. "Good." Garnet encouraged.

Suddenly the box started closing in again. Labradorite contemplated shutting the box off, her hand shook towards the off button as she continued to watch. "Pearl! There's only one way out of this." Pearl looked at Garnet. "Only if you're okay with it." Garnet nodded.

The box glowed with a bright light and it shattered. Everything turned red, making Labradorite jolt back. Peridot immediately went to take her place pushing random buttons to make it appear normal again. "Blast this old gem tech!" Peridot moved to push more buttons, ignoring Labradorite calling Peridots name repeatedly.

"Where did they go? Why isn't anything working!?" A wall exploded, making Peridot and Labradorite look at the explosion. "Surrender Peridot! You have nowhere to run!" Garnet said not noticing the other gem in the corner. "The crystal gems are gonna get you!" Steven says. "You really think this is the end." Peridot says, firing her firearm and laughing.

"This is only the beginning..!" The gems look very fed up with her tactics. "..of my escape!" Peridot blew a hole in the ceiling. Everyone grunted while Peridot Laughed as her fingers were used as a helicopter perpeling her up.

"While I'd love to stick around and watch another one of your pathetic attempts to capture me, but I guess I'm just too smart for the likes of you lumpy clumpy clods!" Peridot laughs again, only for it to be cut short when, something catches ahold of her foot.

It's Steven! "What the?" Peridot looks down to see the cheerful boy hanging onto her foot a dopey smile on his face. "I caught a Peridot!" He says cheerfully.

"Hey! Get your touch stumps off me, you Steven!" Peridot tried to wiggle her foot free, only for Steven to bite the foot. "Hey!" Peridot yelled.

Amethyst grabbed onto Steven.
"Yeah, Steven!"

Pearl grabbed onto Amethyst.
"Don't let her go!"

Garnet grabbed Pearl, keeping everyone on the ground.

Peridot growled. "Let go of me!" She began to flick Steven's face. "You- you persistent little, whatever exactly you are!" She growled.

"Peridot! Your flight's been canceled!" Garnet yells. "No!" Peridot whines, sweat appearing on her face. Peridot pressed a hidden button on her foot, dislocating it from her leg making her fly in the air, where her foot once was smoking.

"You'll lay for this, Crystal Gems! I'll get you back! Just you wait!" Peridot growled angrily flying through the air, now footless. The crystal gems looked up at the flying Peridot, Pearl stood first, then Steven.

Steven called Pearl's name. "It's okay Steven. Next time." Pearl looked at the boy. "We'll get the rest of her." She looked down a the smoking foot. "Right, Garnet?" Garnet smirked. "It's a good step forward." Steven laughs."foot joke!" Amethyst groans, laying on her back. "Finally..."

Suddenly something fell, sending all the gems on edge. "Who's there!?" The pale blue gem stepped into the light, looking up at the gems with baby doll eyes.

The crystal gems summoned their weapons. "Are you with Peridot?" Pearl asked, her patience running thin. The gem stayed silent, clutching her glowing gem with her lower, gloved hands.

The gem pulled something from her gem, a small black ball, she raised it over her head. Amethyst lost her stance, lowering her guard. "What's that little ball gonna do?" She asked, she got no answer. The gems were getting ready to charge. Once they took off towards the gem, she threw the ball one the ground, smoke coming from the ball and enveloping everyone.

No one could see. Once the smoke cleared Pearl shook her head and looked around for the blue gem. She wasn't there. It was as of she disappeared. Pearl looked up at the sky. A figure flew away very quickly.

---

Labradorite quickly flew out of there, she didn't know if the smoke bomb would work, but she thanks the stars it did! She didn't know much about those crystal gems, but if she didn't want to get shattered, it's better if she stayed a ways away.
