61: A Moment Of Realization
<----->
Peridot, Steven and Labradorite spent the rest of the day trying Perry Plans until it was night when they packed up camp, letting Steven rest and Labradorite helped patch them all up.
Steven was roasting marshmallows by the fire they set, Labradorite was placing the first aid back into her gem and Peridot...
"Yes! This is going to work! This is going to be perfect! This is going to be-!" Peridot squealed hopping on foot to foot with joy.
The thing she was so happy about? It was an injector with no legs leaning on an injector leg. The whole thing collapsed, making the sparkle in Peridot's eye die in an instance. "A waste of my time." Peridot growled, utterly done, but she couldn't give up.
Peridot walked over to where Steven and Labradorite were, sitting down next to Steven. "Why can't I master this?" Peridot asked, as Steven ate the marshmallows on his stick and looked at Peridot.
"Awe, Peridot it's okay!" Steven tried to reassure. "Even if none of your Perry Plans work, atleast they were really funny." Steven said, taking another marshmallow out of the bag and eating it.
"And the others will think so too when we go back and get them." Steven added, making Peridot look at him instead of the fire.
"Go back..?" Peridot spoke. "Let it be noted that I, Peridot, refuse to move forward, or back, until I am victorious." Peridot said, Steven took a glance at Labradorite when he said: "...Right." (Once again: this is the girl you pulled)
"I don't get it. I'm smarter than your average Peridot. How did I fail today against some bearly functional, stupid cloudy DUMB DUMB!!" Peridot yelled, basically sheathing.
"Hey, hey, corruptions aren't dumb, they just think a little different. That's all." Steven says, trying to calm down and correct Peridot.
Peridot glared at the boy before speaking. "Okay. Just to make sure my earth vocabulary is correct on this. Let's say: I'm a monster. I spend all my time slamming my face into hard objects and throwing my tongues in the air for fun. How am I not dumb?" Peridot asked, Steven gave Peridot an unsure smile.
"Well... she must be doing something right." Steven said. "She hasn't fallen for any of your Perry Plans." Labradorite added, taking a Clorox and wiping her charred face off, pissing off Peridot further. "IT'S LUCK! Nothing that thing does makes any sense!" Peridot yelled, kicking a rock into the fire.
Steven paused, thinking for a moment. A marshmallow hit Peridot square in her face, making her jolt up and stare at Steven.
"Hey." Peridot said, looking at Steven, who was preparing to throw another one. Another marshmallow hit her straight on her visors, making her growl.
Steven threw three marshmallows and continued to assault Peridot with Marshmallows. "Why are you bombarding me with your confectionery puff rocks!?" Peridot asked, getting up and scooting away from Steven, who continued to throw marshmallows her way.
"To show you what it's like to be a monster!" Steven replied, continuing to throw marshmallows. "Pretend I'm a freaked out human screaming at you in fear! Pretend.... I'm an earth animal chasing you away from your first safe hiding spot! Pretend I'm an angry green gem trying to poof you!" Steven yelled, still assaulting Peridot with marshmallows, he could tell Peridot was getting increasingly more angry.
"This is life for you now! Endless! Suffering!" Steven said, using all of his marshmallows to drive Peridot over the edge. Peridot screamed and snatched the marshmallow bag from Steven, taking it in her teeth and shaking it around like a feral dog.
"Do you see now?" Peridot stopped and dropped the bag into her hands at the sound of Labradorite speaking. "What you're doing makes total sense." Steven spoke.
"You remember what it was like to have everything important taken away? Being under attack? feeling trapped? You were frustrated. So is she. Why don't you try thinking about this from her point of view?" Steven said, Peridot finally had a moment of realization. Peridot thought for a moment, placing her hand on her chin.

In the morning, the sun shown bright and the corrupted Gem was in broad daylight light, throwing her tongue in the air with joy
. Peridot and Steven were hidden behind a rock while Labradorite was trying to rid her hair of the burn the second Perry Plan caused, right next to the rock the two were sitting behind.
"You can do it." Steven encouraged, Peridot looked at him and left the rock walking to the corrupted Gem.
The corrupted Gem looked at Peridot and Peridot looked right back. It seemed to be a staring contest until the Corrupted Gem wiggled it's tongues, making Peridot break character.
"Ugh, I can't take this dirty, tongue flapper, seriously." Peridot said, placing her hands on her hips. "Think! Like! A monster!" Steven whispered to Peridot. "You got this, Peri." Labradorite, despite her earlier irritation, could never be mad at Peridot for so long, even as she cleaned ashes from her hair.
Peridot gave the Corrupted Gem a look before crouching down and throwing her tongue out. The corrupted Gem smiled and threw her tongue out as Peridot hopped closer.
Steven smiled as they seemed to be having fun until Peridot kicked the corrupted gem's leg, to which Peridot was immediately trampled and clawed at.
Steven and Labradorite gasped and immediately went to detain the Corrupted Gem. Peridot cluched onto the corrupted Gems Gem as she shook her head trying get Peridot off.
"It's okay! We don't need to fight! Just let Peridot bubble you-!" Steven's plea was cut off as a blue ribbon wrapped around the corrupted Gems legs and they fell to the floor.
"Now Peridot you should know that for a Gem like this, the pressure point is right.... here." Labradorite walked over to where Peridot was taking her by the back of her shirt and running her fingers along the edges of the corrupted Gems gem.
Labradorite dug her fingers in a certain spot and pulled, immediately poofing them. "Here you are." Labradorite placed the gem into Peridot's hands.
"Hey you're back." Steven said, making the two gems look up to see Garnet with a small smile. "Eh, We never really left." Garnet pointed a finger to a rock to which Pearl and Amethyst poked their heads out.
"We'd knew it'd be funny." Amethyst smirked. "Future vision." Garnet said, letting down her visors to show her third eye. "You- you were all watching this whole time." Peridot blushed, clutching the gem safely.
"I told you me and Labby could do it." Peridot dismissed, still blushing as Labradorite gave her a side glare.
"But I have to admit it was more difficult than I thought." Peridot admits. "this corrupted Gem was truly an advisory worthy of my skill." Peridot brandished the gem, almost proudly.
A green bubble wrapped around the gem, making Peridot's eyes widen in shock. "Woah Peridot." Steven said, staring at the bubble keeping the corrupted Gem afloat. "Nice bubble, Peri!" Amethyst said as she and Pearl ran over.
"What do I do with it?" Peridot asked, looking worried. "Send it off." Garnet said, making Peridot look at her, almost confused as Garnet smiled.
"Just tap the top." Steven said Peridot smiled softly and tapped to top of the bubble, sending it home. "Happy trails." Steven said, waving to the corrupted gem. "So where did it go?" Peridot asked. "Home." Steven responded.

Lapis was in her hammock reading a book when a small green bubble containing a gem appeared on the ceiling.
Lapis was confused but she didn't care. It reminded her of one of her roommates. Speaking of roommates, where were they?
