46:road trip! but Labby's not stalking us!

A few days passed and the three gems living in the barn soon bonded over TV shows and the two blue gems bonded over flying and seeing overhead. Labradorite picked up hobbies here and there, but nothing to serious.

So just imagine Labradorite's surprise when a van pulled up to the barn after her and Lapis' daily flys.

Steven informed her about the trip him, his father and Pearl for some reason, were taking and wanted Labradorite to come.

With a bit of hesitancy, Labradorite shrugged and went along with their plans. After all, what's the worst that could happen?

The trip to Empire City was relatively tame. Steven was in the passenger seat along with Greg driving so that meant that Labradorite and Pearl were sitting in the back.

Steven was making small talk with literally everyone in the van and was overall hyped about the trip.

Pearl was definitely less then ecstatic, usually talking with Steven until Greg piped in about his opinion, which made Pearl go silent.

Labradorite didn't know what was going on with those two, but she didn't really care. It was none of her business. Labradorite usually was the one answering Steven's small talk.

She had definitely gotten more social with the people or gems around her after her meeting with Garnet, Pearl wonder why that was but didn't want to pry.

Greg, doing the driving didn't really do much but look at the road and make sure they didn't crash on their way to this popular city.

In the middle of their drive, Greg pulled out his phone and typed in a number before calling it,
keeping his eyes on the road.

"Hello? Yes, I'd like to rent out four suits, one large, a tall skinny, a small, and a medium, thank you." Greg thanked the person on the phone and hung up as they approached the bright city.

The bright lights from the buildings captivated Steven and Labradorite as they both looked out the windows of the vans with mild interest and fascination.

The van parked next to an establishment called 'Le Hotel' and everyone got out of the van. The four walked into the establishment with little to no problem and Greg walked up to the front desk and leaned on it ringing the bell, even though the receptionist was standing behind the desk, who looked at him up and down.

Greg handed the receptionist a card to which he quickly read and his dull expression changed to a cheerful one as Steven came up to the desk and placed a wad of money on the counter. "Hey, shake a leg!" The receptionist called, causing a chain reaction of other employees to come over, shocking both Labradorite and Pearl carrying the luggages.

"It's Mr. Greg!"

"It's Mr. Greg!" The employees repeated with Joy. "And he's here to spend his dough all over the town!" The receptionist said as the employees grabbed and holsted up Labradorite, Pearl, and the luggages each and ran over to a table as they sang.

The employees placed everyone in chairs infront of a table. "When your dining out with me, it's the finest stake and brie." Greg suddenly got up on the table and dance on it, until it broke. "Just bill it to my bank." Greg said handing the receptionist a $100.

"A hundred buck?! Gee thanks!" The receptionist said happily, before walking away. The employees carried everyone up to the escalator to the top floor. Where they finally placed everyone on the floor and revealed the room they'd be staying in. Almost immediately, Greg and Steven ran to the closet and opened it, revealing four suits.

Steven and Greg put on their respective ones and showed it off to the employees, who obviously clapped and cheered, along Pearl and Labradorite, who looked slightly confused at the pose.

Moments later, Steven and Greg was already in the pool with the expensive suit. Labradorite tested the water by walking around the rim of it, while Pearl poked at the water. Labradorite was about to declare the pool safe until one of the employees shove a plate of food in her face, making her stumble and fall into the pool with a 'SPLASH!'

Steven looked over at Labradorite, who quickly crawled out of the pool like a feral cat crawling out of a bathtub, and smiled mischievously.

Minutes later, Pearl and Labradorite were pressured into their suits. Labradorite looked over herself in the mirror, while Pearl looked over herself.

Her gem was completely obscured by the fabric of the suit, it felt kind of uncomfortable. Labradorite wandered away from the group next to a counter.

Labradorite looked over and plucked a pair of scissors from the drawer. Carefully, Labradorite snipped the fabric away to make room f

or her gem. Once she was done, she smiled at the finishing product.

"NO!" Suddenly a voice cut through the cheerful music, making Labradorite look up to see Pearl pulling back from Greg, a distressed look on her face.

Pearl's cheeks dusted a heavy teal as he had realized what she had just done. "I- I mean... maybe later." Pearl whispered, walking away from Greg and Steven. 'What did I miss in a span of seconds??' Labradorite thought dumbfounded.

The moon was high in the sky and Greg and Steven were fast asleep. Labradorite stayed on the couch next to the bed they snored on. Lapis did a similar thing when she slept.

Labradorite's thoughts were cut off as Pearl entered the room and looked over the sleeping Steven and Greg.

"Pearl?" Pearl jumped at her name being called and turned to see Labradorite.  "What's on your mind?" Labradorite asked, Pearl averted her gaze to a bouquet of roses. Pearl smiled softly at the flowers and plucked one as Labradorite neared.

"I was fine with the men, who would come into her life now and again." Pearl spoke, taking a rose into her hand and putting her top hat back on. "You were fine?" Labradorite asked tilting her head. "Cause I knew that they didn't really matter."

"Until him?" Labradorite followed Pearl out into the balcony as Steven's eyes opened. "No, I was fine, when he came and we fought like it was all some silly game." Pearl danced. "Over 'her' like a who'd she choose?" Labradorite replied, Pearl nodded.

"After all those years I'd never thought I'd lose." Pearl tipped her hat off into her hand. "It's over, isn't it? Isn't it? Isn't it over?" Pearl seemed to ask.

"He won, and she chose him and she loved him and she's gone. It's over Isn't it? why can't I move on?" Pearl sighed, lifting the rose to her face.

"What's making you stay?" Pearl looked over to Labradorite. "What?" Labradorite fiddled with her hands.

"List them. What is making it so hard to move on?" Labradorite said. Pearl looked at her and did something unexpected. Pearl took Labradorite's hands and spun her around.
