25: moon base

A pink Lion charged down a hill, the Amethyst, Pearl, and fusion riding on his back while The Steven, Peridot and Labradorite was in his mane, grabbing onto his hair and hoping for the best as the beast created a portal to the Diamond base.

The ride through the portal felt terrifying for Labradorite to say the least, traveling through portals at alarming speeds while she's only holding onto hair would definitely be nerve wracking for a gem like her.

"Pretty cool right?!" Steven asked through the whirring of magic, only for Peridot and Labradorite to scream in terror, hopefully the crystal gems wont make Peridot and Labradorite do this again.

Once Lion leaped out of the portal, he slammed into a wall and went right to sleep. "Lion? Are you okay bud?" Steven gets out of the lions mane and stepped infront of his sleeping face while the gems caught their breath.

Peridot growled, getting out of lions mane while helping Labradorite out aswell. "Get me out of this furry freak-" Dispite Peridot's best efforts, she slipped and fell on her back with a 'Ow!' Making Labradorite get off the pink animal to check on Peridot using her gem as a light source.

"Aw Lion you've earned your naps for the week." Steven cooed, petting the pink furry animal, completely disregarding the fallen Peridot. "We made it..." Pearl mutters, using her gem as a flashlight.

"It doesn't look like the moon." Steven comments, only for Amethyst to run up to a door. "Hey look over here! I think it's a door!" Amethyst says, pressing a button that automatically opened the door.

The air immediately was sucked out while Labradorite had to dig her feet into the ground to stop from flying out into space. Amethyst removed her hand from the bottom and the doors immediately closed. "Yup! We on da moon!" Amethyst confirmed, turning around with a look in her eyes.

"Amethyst, please don't blow us into space!" Pearl yelled with a stressed look, until Steven started laughing.

Everyone looked over to where Steven's voice could be heard to see him floating up into the air with a joyest smile. Steven floated to the ground and repeatedly jumped back up into the air again.

"Look at me! I'm a moon boy!" Steven cheered as Labradorite lit up. Labradorite summoned her wings and flew up into the air, copying Steven's slowed movements.

Peridot looked away from the awestruck sight when Amethyst whined about not being a moon boy. "We're gems, we're a space-faring race designed to conquer other worlds." Peridot remarks with a slight smirk.

"Our physical forms adjust automatically to the gravity of any planetoid." Peridot explains as Amethyst sat up. "Awe, Lame!" Amethyst whined, looking off to Steven bouncing about, Labradorite copying him from a distance.

Steven started to sing about bouncing on the moon before slamming into a wall with a mural on it. "Huh?" Steven sat up and looked around. "Hey Peridot, who is this supposed to be?" Steven asked, looking up at the blue mural.

Peridot walked over, Labradorite flying by her side, and gasped. "It's Blue Diamond!" Peridot gasped before stopping to turn around as Labradorite stayed in place, looking up at the mural as the outside noises became static noise. Who was this gem, or Diamond? Labradorite's memory was really fuzzy, but she felt extremely uneasy looking at the mural, she couldn't tell why...

Labradorite snapped out of her gaze and looked over to Peirdot who was explaining something to The Steven, standing infront of a yellow mural... Labradorite certainly didn't want to go near that it gave her another surge of fear that went right to her gem.

"Hey I think that's the control surface over there! Let's take a look!" Peridot's words interrupted Labradorite's thoughts as the green gem ran over away from the gems that surrounded her, Labradorite immediately went to follow, anything to get away from the mural.

Peridot kneeled down to a tile on the outside perimeter of the diamond base. "I think this is right. The material is different from the surrounding stone." Peridot comments making some more  comments before pressing the tile making a series of stairs appear.

Peridot giggles before running up the stairs, Labradorite following quickly in the air. "This is so incredible!" Peridot says, after walking up the stairs for some time.

"Only the elite of the elite can enter these sanctums." Peridot smiled, as Labradorite flew over head, half listening in to the information.

"We are literally walking in the footsteps of the diamonds!" Peridot says happily. "They must really like stairs." Steven says simply, hopping up on multiple stairs.

Once they finally reached the top room, Peridot immediately went to the control panel with Garnet and Labradorite following, Labradorite keeping a safe distance away from the floor so Garnet couldn't touch her.

The rest of the gems looked around the clear dome. "This looks like it could be brand new!" Peridot says happily as the gems began to surround her again.

"I mean it's a relic by today's standards, but, golly, it's so elegant. So simple, so perfect!" Peridot gushed as Steven sat down on the chair behind them.

"So how do you turn it on?" Amethyst asked, making Peridot immediately deflat. "I have no idea. But Labradorite-!" Peridot was soon cut off by Steven pressing a hand on the chair, making the control panel glow.

"Hey, it's got one of those glory hand dealies!" Steven points out. "YOU CAN'T SIT THERE!!" Peridot yells almost fearfully. "Why not? It's really cool." Steven says ignoring Peridot's blanton outburst.

"That chair is only for the most Elite gems!" Peridot explains frantically. "YOU CANT GO AROUND SITTING WHERE AN ELITE WOULD SIT!" Peridot yelps. "Well they aren't here now, right?" Steven scooted over and pat the seat next to him.

Peridot looked off to the side, jumping onto the seat and she giggled. Steven picked up and item similar to a 3d Diamond. "What's this doodad for?" Steven asked as Peridot looked over at the item.

"Hey! Put that back!" Peridot said before activating the control panel with a  "Here we go." The chair slid up to the control panel. "This is a really old system." Peridot mutters as she began to work at the control panel.

"Gotta find the right file..." Peridot muttered looking over the files before shouting a "aha!" Once she found it. "Cluster, Cluster, where are you, Cluster?" Peridot murmured before finding it.

"Looks like the beta kindergarten in facet nine." Peridot says before she began to elaborate. "It's the smaller of the two not nearly as impressive as yours, Amethyst!" Peridot smiled over to Amethyst, who gave her a weird look. "Uh, thanks..?" Amethyst muttered slightly creeper out by Peridot's behavior.

"But where is the cluster now?" Pearl asked with slight urgency. "Hang on." Peridot said, pressing another button showing the exact Coordinates of the Cluster. "There it is!" Peirdot said as she found it.

"It's imbedded deep in the mantle. Relative to the barn, it's roughly 2,500 units down." Peridot explains. "All we need to do is feed this data to the drill and we should be all set." Peridot says, Pearl smiled.

"That's it then! Mission accomplished!" Pearl cheered, Steven gave a cheer of his own as he pumped his fist up in the air. "Great." The Amethyst groaned turning away fromthescreen. "Let's get the heck out of here." She said, walking away from the control panel, muttering if how this place gives her the 'creeps'.

"Wait, hold on!" Steven says to the other gems before turning back to Peridot. "Does this thing have any games on it?" Steven asked as Labradorite lowered herself seeing the fusion a long ways away.

Peridot denied the question with quick and repeated 'no's. "This wasn't used for games." Peridot explains making Steven say "aw." "It was used for planning the colony. Here look." Peridot informed bringing a new file to the screen.

The Crystal gems looked over to the screen of the globe map, shiny red dots were placed scarcely around the map. "So here's a map of all structures that were originally built on Earth." Peridot said, skipping through pages of information.

The Crystal gems walked over, making Labradorite zip back up into the air. "All told, this probably only accounts for maybe five percent of what was originally planned." Peridot said, continuing to flip through information as Steven gave Peridot a curious side glance.

"What was the plan?" Steven asked , making Peridot stop flipping through the information. "Well, let's take a look." Peridot said, clicking a button that showed a 3d earth that slowly began to deteriorate from the inside.

Once it was done, it earned three rings of unknown substance circling around it, making the Crystal gems faces scrunched up the more they looked at it, while Peridot just smiled.

"Ta-da! A finished Earth colony!" Peridot revealed like it was some kind of magic trick. "Wow! Look at this! 89 kindergartens, 67 spires, a galaxy warp in each facet, efficient use of all available materials." Peridot lists off the items of the finished colony with a bright smile on her face.

"What were you thinking shutting this operation down! IT COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT!" Peridot excited voice could be heard bouncing off the walls into those around her.

"No! You're wrong!" The fusion yelled, making Peridot confused. "What do you mean? It's perfect, look at it." Peridot asked, her once excited voice being laced with confusion. "We are looking at it." The now blanton Pearl said, making Peridot look at her. "Yeah this plan stinks!" Amethyst frowns.

"Completing this colony would have meant the extinction of all life on earth!" The fusion yelled, making Labradorite worry even more for Peridot's safety.

Labradorite fiddled with her hands as the gems went back and forth. The Crystal gems eventually cornering in in Peridot. She contemplated grabbing Peridot and getting the stars out of there, but she grabbed her gem, memories clouding her mind.

She looked over to the stairs, they were bearly fittable only big enough for the fusion to go in and out, two if their small enough. Besides, the gems would just crowd the exit until Labradorite gave up or was stupid enough to try and go through them.

Labradorite's train of thought was cut off by the fusion grabbing Peridot by the collar of her shirt, making Labradorite gasp, her face paling. "Listen to me now." The fusion spoke in a low voice summoning a gauntlet on the hand not holding Peridot.

"You are talking about things you do not understand." Garnet spoke, before hearing Steven's pleads. Garnet dropped Peridot roughly on the ground, Labradorite appeared by her side in a flash, and smashed the control panel into small pieces.

[A/n : yall, I think the Labradorite x Peridot shippers might be getting to me...]
