24 : songs about feelings?
After Steven's Party was over, the Greg and the Connie went home and building the drill went smoothly. That is until the gems stopped and sat on a hill, facing the blazing sun and leaving Labradorite and Peridot very confused.
"Steven." Peridot said, stepping infront of the boy as he played the ukulele while siting, his back resting on a pink Lion that was laying on the ground. "Hi." The Steven greeted as Labradorite and Peridot approached.
"Why did we stop working on the drill?" Peridot asked, pointing to the unfinished drill. "And why are they just...sitting there looking at nothing?" Labradorite pointed out, looking at the crystal gems filled with confusion.
"We worked hard, and we deserve to take it easy for a little bit." Steven says his strumming coming to a stop. "I mean, just look at that view!" Steven comments, Peridot and Labradorite look at the warm colors blending into one another.
"It's beautiful." Steven said, looking at the colors in awe. Peridot was not having it. "It's going to be blown to oblivion by the cluster if we dont get back to work!" Peridot yelled, making Labradorite place a gloved hand on her shoulder. "Working hard is important, but feeling good is important, too." Steven says happily.
"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!" Peridot yelled, clenching her fist making the small drill in her hand whir, all this talk about feelings made her feel out of place and it made her mad. Peridot didn't get feelings.
"Hey! Bzzz! what is that a -a 'C'?" Steven asked, playing a note on his ukulele, leaving both Peridot and Labradorite confused. Better than angry, Labradorite thought.
"The drill?" Peridot asked turning the drill on again. "Yeah!" Steven hopped to his feet. Peridot pressed harder on the drill and Steven gasped. "Oh my gosh! Now it's music!" The Steven smiled, now the two gems were definitely confused. "Music?" Both gems said in unison. "Yeah, it's music." Steven repeated before looking down at his ukulele in his hands.
"Like this... do re mi fa so la ti do~" Steven began to strum his ukulele before fully struming it. "Do mi so do?" Labradorite tried to repeat. "Isn't it pretty?" Steven asked, Peridot gave the Steven a look. "That's exceedingly simple." Peridot remarks. "Do mi so it?" Labradorite repeated.
"We're making music!" Steven says in a singing voice, strumming on his ukulele. "What is the point?" Peridot asked, as Steven continued to strum. "You're not making anything." Peridot said smug, looking back at the unfinished drill.
"Well, if it isn't anything, then why does it sound so good?" The Steven asked Peridot. "I suppose it's just interest." Peridot explained. "do mi so do." Labradorite said. "Devoid of substance or purpose, a hypothetical pattern!" Peridot said.
"do me so ti." Labradorite repeated. "For the satisfaction of bringing into completion!" Peridot finished with a smirk. "Sure!" Steven encouraged with a weirded out smile.
"Do mi so ti!" Labradorite repeated happily. "Interest without meaning? Solutions without problems?" Peridot looked back at the stars above.
"And then you just add words. Here's one I've been working on." Steven says, struming to a tune. "Life and death and love and birth and peace and war on the planet earth." Steven sang, leaving the two gems confused. "Is there anything that's worth more than peace and love on the planet earth? Ooh woah~"
"Come on and sing it with me!" Steven sung, Peridot gave a confused "Sing?" As Steven kept singing. "The words relate to the key~" Labradorite tilted her head, pulling a key from her gem. "Key?" She said confused.
"If it's a pattern, if it's a pattern, then just repeat after me~" Steven instructed while singing. "Life and death and love and birth~" Steven sung staying silent as Peridot repeated him in her own way, with a slight uncomfort. "Now you sing, mi fa mi-mi fa mi-ti la,"
"And peace and war on the planet earth." Labradorite soon joined into the chorus, making Steven smile. "Yes yes! That's it!" Steven says, proud for the two gems. "That's so easy." Peridot remarked.
"Yeah but that's what's fun about it, you should write something- you should write a song!" Steven said happily, Peridot looked at the boy as he pranced around Labradorite and Peridot. "About what?" Labradorite and Peridot said in unison. "Whatever you're thinking." Steven chuckles before leaving to the others. Peridot and Labradorite looked at eachother. Whatever they were thinking?

Night fall came rather quickly as the two finally came up with a song they both related to and liked, and went to tell Steven. Only for the Steven to take them to a camp fire where all the gems were, his Ukulele in hand, and a bright smile on his face.
Steven sat down with his ukulele and strummed it softly, gesturing for the two to start singing. Peridot looked over at Labradorite. Labradorite looked over at Peridot with the same glance.
"I guess we're already here." Peridot started to sing, letting Labradorite continue. "I guess we already know." Labradorite continued, before letting Peridot sing.
"We've all got something to fear." Peridot wavered. "We've all got no where to go." Labradorite sang. "I think your all insane!" Peridot sang pointing a finger at the gems. "But I guess we are too." Labradorite softly reminded.
"Anybody would be if they were stuck on earth with you." Peridot sang the final verse, making Steven laugh and shout a "yes!"

Morning came in a blur as Steven continued to sing his song. The gems worked twice as hard as they did, singing the song sometimes as well. The afternoon came by quickly as Labradorite saw Steven just laying there on the ground, strumming his ukulele.
Labradorite walked over to the boy. "The Steven? What are you doing?" Labradorite asked, sitting down on the grass next to the boy. Steven looked over at Labradorite, who was eyeing him curiously.
"Just taking a break." Steven replied, still playing his ukulele. A ladybug crawled on a blade of grass before flying off onto Labradorite's nose. Labradorite looked at the insect in confusion.
"Hey! It landed on you." Steven said, sitting up with his ukulele, looking at the ladybug on Labradorite's nose. Labradorite went to reach for the insect, but stopped as Peridot walked over. "There you are, Labradorite, I-" Peridot stopped.
Labradorite looked up at Peridot as she looked away and sighed. Labradorite stood to her feet, the ladybug flying off her nose. "Madem Peri, do you need anything?" Peridot looks back at Labradorite.
"Yes! Yes, I need your assistance to aquire something from a high platform for me." Peridot says, making Labradorite tilt her head as Peridot grabbed Labradorite's hand and dragged her to the barn.

Nightfall came rather quickly as the gems finally finished the drill. All the crystal gems with Peridot and Labradorite stood infront of the finished drill. "Nice work." The fusion said, patting Peridot on the back, making the gem spin backwards with a noise of shock.
Labradorite looked back at Peridot, a look of worry on her face as the Crystal Gems laughed at the tense Peridot. Steven hugged Peridot's back as a flood of realization washes over her. "We really did it, huh?" Peridot mutters as Steven gasped. "We?" Steven repeats with a large smile.
"oh wait! I need to check something!" Peridot says, grabbing Labradorite's hand and pulling her over to the drill.
"She's come so far!" Steven says with a smile. "It feels like yesterday she was trying to kill us." He reminisced, only for Pearl to correct him.
"Coordinates!" The crystal gems heard Peridot yell from afar. "We still need the Cluster's exact Coordinates in order to drill!" Peridot says from the drills opening, Labradorite peaking just out of it, looking down from the drills opening.
"There's a diamond base that may hold that information." Pearl muttered. "but getting there is going to be difficult." Pearl warns. "How come?" Steven asked, looking up at the Pearl.
"Because it's not accessible by warp pad and it's on.." Pearl looks over to the glowing half-moon in the sky, making Steven gasp and utter the words, "the moon!?" With lit up eyes. "Yes, Steven, the moon." Pearl said with slight exhaust in her voice.
Peridot began to look for a way down that doesn't require her head being face planted in the ground. Peridot soon looked at Labradorite, her face being illuminated by the moon. "Uhm, Labby?" Labradorite turned her head over at the sound of her name.
"Yes, Madem Peri?" Peridot's face flushed with embarrassment. "I will need your assistance getting down from the drill." Peridot looked away, making Labradorite tilt her head in the moon light.
Labradorite didn't say anything as she picked Peridot up by her armpits and flew them down to the ground. Peridot looked up at Labradorite.
"You assistance is very much appreciated. Thank you, Labby." Peridot thanked, looking at Labradorite's eyes as they shimmered in the light.
Labradorite smiled as Peridot cleared her throat. "We best get going to the crystal gems to see if they have a plan."
