17:healed at last
"Since I have no other choice, I have decided to share what I know about The Cluster to you, Crystal Gems." Peridot said as Steven, in a box that showed the earth, shuffled beside her. "This!" Peridot hits the box with a fly swatter.
"Is The Earth." Steven gains his footing once Peridot pulls the fly swatter back. "At the very center of the planets core lies The Cluster." Peridot says, before telling Steven to rotate, in which he did with ease showing a crude drawing of the cluster in a shadowed earth.
"This is The Cluster, a massive artificial fusion composed of millions of gem shards." Peridot pointed to the drawing of the cluster, making the Crystal gems take glances at the box then at their teammates.
"It has laid dormant for thousands of years within this planets crust." Peridot informs as Steven turns back to the earth side. "When this gems activates and takes form, the results will be catastrophic." Peridot says, before saying "Now."
Steven made noises in the box before a sock puppet burst through the earth drawing, making the gems flinch back, and Peridot to look at the box with mild confusion as Steven continued to make sound effects for 'The Cluster'.
"What is that!?" Peridot asked frustratedly, making Steven stop his sound effects. "It's the cluster." Steven responds, moving the puppet to his words. Peridot smacked the sock puppet with the fly swatter in her hand. "It does not look like that." Peridot said, already exhausted with Steven.
"But it is real, and it can activate at any moment!" Peridot growled as Steven made a small rawr sound. "What a cluster..." Amethyst muttered, looking down in thought. "That Abomination must be stopped." Garnet said, Amethyst looked up at her as Pearl continued to stay in thought.
"But how?" Pearl asked. "We'll need to build some kind of machine to take us to the center of the earth. It'll have to-" Pearl was swiftly cut off by Peridot swinging the fly swatter in the gems faces. "I wasn't finished speaking." Peridot growled.
"What we need is to build some sort of machine to take us to the center of the earth. It'll need to withstand up to 360 gigapascals of pressure and temperatures of 9,800 degrees." Peridot describes. "Well, we mustn't waste time." Pearl told.
"We need to start finding parts for this machine immediately." Pearl said, Peridot rolled her eyes. "Yes, obviously. We'll start by dismantling all devices inside this dwelling." Peridot said, Steven only had a second to process what Peridot just said, saying a "wha?" Before Peridot started smashing things.
"This primitive radiation concentrator should come in handy!" Peridot strained as she pulled the microwave from it's place. "This primitive vibration transmitter could possibly serve a function!" Peridot said before smashing the phone to bits.
"There's a remote chance something useful could be inside this primitive image cube." Peridot said before smashing the TV in half. Before Peridot could find anything else, Steven yelled a "wait!" Making Peridot pause and look at the boy still in the cardboard box.
"I have a better idea that doesn't involve destroying the house!" Steven smiled. "Classic Steven." Amethyst smiled as the two gems looked at the smallest.
<----->
"Labradorite, we are now going to a secondary location with the Crystal gems!" Peridot announced, Labradorite looked up from the bathtub at Peridot.
With a shrug, Labradorite got out of the bathtub before shaking herself off similar to a dog. "What about this secondary location, Madem Peridot?" Labradorite asked, her hair fluffing up as she stopped her shaking.
"We are going to create a machinery to defeat The Cluster, and to do that, we need to go to a secondary location with the Crystal gems." Peridot said again, before Steven peaked his head in the bathroom.
"Come on Labradorite, the gems and I are waiting." Steven smiled. "Uhm the Steven? I can't be out of water for too long, if you weren't aware." Labradorite reminded with a worrying look on her face. Steven paused looking back at Labradorite's gem with an "oh".
"I can actually-" Steven was quickly cut off by Peridot. "I'm sure there is water where we are going if that's what you're worried about." Peridot waved off. "Now come on, The Cluster doesn't wait." Peridot said, pulling Labradorite out the bathroom.
<----->
"Alright. What we have here in the barn should be adequate enough for us to get started." The Pearl said as Peridot and Labradorite looked inside the 'barn', before walking to the chalk board, Labradorite quickly following Peridot by her side as she wandered. Beside the board, Steven was spinning around in a bar stool, smiling brightly.
"First I recommend we organize the component types and assemble a rough blueprint based on what we have available." The Pearl informed as Peridot stood infront the chalkboard, Labradorite by she side, listening patiently.
The Pearl sighs as she looks at the drawing. "Sorry Steven, it's a lovely drawing but it won't look like this." Steven stops spinning as he deflated, his bright smile dropping into a sad frown. Peridot picked up a peace of chalk and hummed.
"Good. Yes this is adequate." Peridot dropped the chalk in the Pearl's and tried to shoo her away. "Uh, what?" The Pearl asked confusedly, Peridot looked at Pearl then at Steven then at Labradorite.
"Uhm... that will be all?" Peridot said questioningly before clapping her hands twice. To be completely honest, Labradorite almost stepped away from Peridot, only for her to remind herself that Peridot wasn't even talking to her.
And she wouldn't talk to her like that anyways. Labradorite had to remember she is also part Aquamarine.
"How do you get her to leave?" Peridot asked through her teeth to Steven, though she wasn't as silent as she wanted to be because the Pearl looked at her with glaring eyes.
"Excuse me, I am not leaving." The Pearl said, Peridot and Labradorite looked at eachother as Steven began to talk.
"Yeah! She's got to stay and help build the drill thing, right?" Steven asked estaticly, Peridot almost laughed at the boy. "No, no. You're confused." Peridot chuckled at the boy. "A Pearl can't build a thing like this." Peridot smirked while pointing to the chalk board. Steven tilted his head. "Why not?" He asked
"Because Pearl's aren't for this! They're for standing around and-and looking nice and-and, uh holding your stuff for you! Even Labradorite got the memo and she's only part Pearl!"
Peridot gestured to Labradorite, who, at the moment, was holding Peridot's foot, trying to see the button she pressed to make it dislocate from her other limb enhancers. Labradorite looked up at Peridot with a hum.
"That's enough!" The Pearl yelled. "If we're going to work together, you're going to have to listen to me." The Pearl said angrily at Peridot, Labradorite was going to say something back to the Pearl, only for Peridot to speak.
"Listen to you?" Peridot laughs. "Did you teach her to talk like this?" Peridot asked Steven, chuckling to herself. "What are you talking about?" Steven asked, silencing Peridot's laughter.
"She's a Pearl. She's a made-to-order servant, just like the hundreds of other Pearl's being flanted around back on homeworld." Peridot said, Steven looks like his mind had just been blown.
"Wait. There's hundreds of Pearls?" Steven asked with a bewildered tone, the Pearl blushed a light teal. "Well, yes, but-" the Pearl was immediately cut off by Peridot commenting. "And she looks like a fancy one too."
Labradorite gave Peridot a side eye. Part of her wanted to feel offended, but also another part of her wanted to laugh right along with Peridot, but for the most part, she felt slightly disturbed with Peridot's close touching of the Pearl.
"So, who do you belong to, anyway?" Peridot's question quickly shook Labradorite out of her thoughts. "Nobody!" The Pearl yelled, taking the piece of fabric from her bow out of Peridots hands.
"Then what are you for?" Peridot asked, making the Pearl blush once more. Upon hearing no answer, Peridot turned. "Well, you can belong to me for now." Peridot snickers not noticing the angry Pearl behind her and the mildly uncomfortable Labradorite next to Steven.
"Ha! A Peridot owning a Pearl! What would they say back home?" Peridot snickered. "Now, listen here, you tiny twerp! In case you've forgotten you're on our turf now, and J didn't fight a 1,000 year war for this planets independence to take orders from the likes of you!"
Labradorite's jaw nearly dropped at the way this Pearl was talking to the Peridot, sure she might have deserved it, but damn! Talk about ego shattering. Peridot only turned and glared. "Excuse me?" She said meeting face to face with the Pearl.
"I am a natural technician and a certified kindergartener." Peridot infroms. "I was MADE for this." Peridot says, pointing to herself. "YOU were made to take orders, NOT to give them!" Peridot hissed, pointing to the Pearl's chest.
Steven got up from his seat and dashed over to the two. "Woah, woah, hang on, guys!" Steven said, breaking up the potential fight. "Now we can all agree that you're both good at building things, so can't you just try listening to eachother?" Steven asked with a smile.
"NO!" The two gems yelled, continuing to be at each other's throats. "I'm as good at building things as you, better even!" Pearl yelled angrily, Peridot laughed. "Name one thing you engineer better! Go on." Peridot told.
"Robots." The two gems looked at Steven with questioning looks as the boy went starry-eyed. "You should build robots. Giant robots!" Steven continued his monolog. "I see a race! A giant robo-race. With prizes. Giant robo-prizes!" Steven yelled dreamily.
"You mean like a competition?" Pearl asked, Steven nodded. "Yeah to see who's better at building stuff." He smiled, Peridot and Labradorite looked quite puzzled however. "What are these 'Ro-butts' you speak of?" Peridot was the first to ask.
"They're like those funky marble guys you were sending, only bigger and you can ride them!" Steven began to imitate a robot. "You mean a flask robonoid?" Labradorite asked, however her voice fell on deaf ears as Peridot laughs, talking over her.
"Building one of these ro-butts will be easy!" Peridot said before Pear, sprinted into the barn. "Well I can build one faster!" The Pearl said, before Peridot came running after her.
"That's what you think!" Peridot yelled Steven Laughed and turned to Labradorite. "Come on Labradorite your gonna miss them building the robots!" Steven laughed, Labradorite hesitated to even walk near the barn as sharp tools began to be flown.
"Uhm sorry, I can't be cracked worse then this." Labradorite points to her gem, Steven looks down and gasps at the large crack in the middle of her gem. Steven suddenly perked up, snapping his fingers as he ran over to Labradorite.
"This might feel weird." Steven says before licking his palm and placing it on Labradorite's gem. Labradorite shuddered at the cold but stayed still until Steven removed his hand to reveal Labradorite's finally free of cracks.
A smile engulfed Labradorite face as she summoned her wings. Labradorite hugged Steven, using momentum from her wings to push him back to the entrance of the barn.
"Thank you! Thank you, The Steven! Never could I be ungrateful for this gift!" Labradorite thanked, hugging Steven so tight it cut off his circulation.
"You could Thank me by letting me breath." Steven took a gasp of air as Labradorite finally let him go, tears filling her eyes. "I am very Thankful that you healed the crack, water can only do so much." Labradorite said, Steven scratched his head, shrugging. "No prob bob." Labradorite only tilted her head. "It's Labradorite."
Steven and Labradorite finally began to watch the two, spiteful gems build robots, before two gems came up behind them.
"Yo, Steven. How are the wonder needs doing?" Amethyst looked at the barn and jumped with a scream.
"What going on? Are they building the drill?" Amethyst asked looking up at the building gems. "No, we're building robots now." Whirring made everyone expect from Garnet cover their ears. "What'd you say?!"
