Tactician
Izuku stood alongside his classmates, waiting for their heroics teacher to arrive and begin their first heroics lesson. Their teacher was none other than All Might himself, who had told them to put their costumes on and head to ground Beta.
All Might dropped in from the sky, giving a great throaty laugh.
"Excellent, you've all arrived! Now, let me explain today's lesson..."
____
It was pretty simple. All Might would put them into pairs, then two pairs would face off against eachother in a heroes Vs villains scenario.
"The villains must guard the bomb at all costs! You may hide it however you want, but it must stay inside the building! If the villains capture the heroes or the time runs out, they win! The reverse is true for the heroes! If they capture the villains or touch the bomb in the time limit, they win! Any questions?" All Might asked.
The hero grinned when nobody raised their hands.
"Excellent! Now, the first Villain team is..."
All Might reached into a black box, pulling a white ball out with a letter on it.
"Team A! The hero team will be.. team D!"
Izuku hummed. Izuku and Uraraka Vs Iida and Bakugo.
"Villain team, go set up, you have ten minutes!" All Might said.
Izuku nodded silently, heading for the door.
_________
Izuku sat down in the centre of the bomb room in the lotus position.
"So.. what's the plan?" Uraraka asked.
Izuku smiled.
"They won't even make it inside the building. You might want to sit down."
"Hero team, enter!!" All Might yelled.
_________
"-enter!!" All Might said into the microphone.
Class 1A and the pro hero stared at the screen in amazement.
"Can.. can he do that sir?" Kaminari asked.
All Might sighed.
"I did say the bomb had to stay inside the building.. but I didn't say anything about the building itself..."
Kirishima clashed his fists together.
"That's so manly! They can't even get up there! The heroes have been completely foiled!" He exclaimed passionately.
________
Bakugo stared up at the building in mild fury. He was half impressed, half angry that he didn't get to fight.
The villain's hideout was floating high above the ground. It was just sitting there, tantalisingly close, yet unreachable.
"H-hero team.. are you going to attempt to reach the hideout?" All Might asked over the earpieces.
Bakugo scoffed, turning around and trudging back to the observation room.
"I do not believe either of us could make it if we tried sir." Iida said regretfully.
"Alright then. Villain Team Wins!" He yelled.
____________
Once Izuku had set the building back down and the Villains returned to the Observation room, All Might began his assesment.
"Now, I think it's clear who the MVP of this match was..." He said.
The class nodded.
"I'm going to have to ask however.. please do not use that tactic again, as we do need to have an actual lesson. Other than that though, very well done young Midoriya!"
____________
The next day's heroics class was vastly different. Mr Aizawa was taking this one.
"Today is going to be different. You're all going to pick a weapon and train with it. It can be a knife, a katana, a hammer, a spear, whatever. Having a weapon is a good way of keeping your quirk in reserve for when you really need it. Some weapons can even enhance your use of your quirk, like Midoriya's lightsaber for example. The reason he's so good is because his quirk and the weapon work so well together. Now, who has some experience with any weapon?" He asked.
Izuku, Yayorozu, Kirishima and Jirou raised their hands.
Aizawa nodded.
"Alright.grab the weapon that you're most familiar with from the rack."
Yayorozu took a quarterstaff, Kirishima took a katana and Jirou grabbed a knife.
Izuku jerked his arm and caught the hilt that fell from his sleeve.
"Go over to the four robots by the wall there and turn them on. They'll grab an identical weapon and you can get started. Don't worry, they're programmed to stop before injuring you badly. The rest of you with me." Aizawa said.
Izuku went over to a sleek looking robot. It was fixed to the ground, and had one of it's hands open. He took out his second lightsaber and put it into the mechanical hand, turning the robot on.
Izuku's opponent raised its arm and turned the light sword on. Izuku did the same, taking a defensive stance.
There was a quick flurry of movements, and the lightsabers were locked together, the robot pushing against Izuku.
Izuku flicked his blade, spinning around and deflecting the oncoming blade, lunging for an attack. He moved from the Third to the Seventh in milliseconds, bombarding the machine with lunges and slashes, barely nicking it's armour plating, steadily wearing it down.
Izuku moved the lightsaber in a double vertical spin, then rotated on his heel, slicing its head off just as the arms hit the ground.
He picked up the discarded lightsaber and looked over at his classmates.
Kirishima was doing well, but he was a little clumsy with his katana. He was saved by his quirk, which protected him from his opponent's blade.
Yayorozu was doing very well, deflecting her enemies' weapon and striking the target points on its chest, face and arms.
Jirou was struggling a little, but was skilled with her own knife. She just wasn't sure how to face a knife wielding opponent.
"Damn dude, you completely destroyed your robot!" Kirishima said with a grin.
Izuku laughed.
"I know Seven near perfect saber fighting styles, the robot didn't stand a chance. You want any help?" Izuku asked.
Kirishima sighed.
"I practice with the katana all the time but fighting a real opponent is more difficult than it looks.."
Izuku nodded.
"That's because you're going about it all wrong. You should focus on attacking, stringing the offensive movements together to overwhelm your opponent. Your quirk is perfect for this, you don't need to worry about blocking or deflecting your enemies' blade. I suggest going for a powerful, aggressive sword style, speed isn't your thing when you've hardened your skin." Izuku said.
Kirishima nodded in understanding.
"Thanks bro! Hey.. could you teach me? You're really good with your lightsaber, and it's kinda like a katana.."
Izuku thought for a moment, before grinning.
"Sure! I think the Fifth style is a perfect fit for you, although you won't be needing the few defensive moves..."
Izuku spent the rest of the lesson showing Kirishima the various movements of the Fifth style.
