Percy Pov
The trip was very long. After the first couple of days, being on a boat got old. Fighting and bantering got old. The Myrmidons were ready for war and didn't want to be cramped on a little ship for this long of a time. Only the training, given to them each individually by Achilles, prevented them from fighting.
When we arrived, it was amazing. We already felt free of the boat and we had arrived in the night. The city of Troy looked like it was surrounded by a halo of light from the gods themselves. Agamemnon ordered everyone to stay aboard and that we attack in the morning. We were so far off, I don't think the Trojans saw us. Agamemnon's logic was that we wouldn't reach shore until morning anyways, we'd better rest up and wait.
I don't think Agamemnon really came up with this plan. I truly think it was his best strategic advisors. Odysseus, my father. Agamemnon wouldn't want to wait to fight and the Spartans must be about ready to mutiny just to get into battle. It would have taken a lot of smooth talking and persuasion.
Time skip of Awesomeness lel, I've been impaled!
What happened that night, I don't know exactly. I heard rumors that Agamemnon insulted the goddess Artemis claiming he was the better hunter. Really idiotic, the pig. Now there is no wind and our ships are at a near stand still. When we row the sea seams to fight the oars. One of the Myrmidons actually broke an oar struggling against the water.
It really wasn't fair, now I'm not a brat, but it isn't fair that because of Agamemnon we can't move. In fact, it was because of Agamemnon that we are in this stupid war in the first place. The dirty pig.
I looked over the side at the semi dirty liquid below. I could feel my frustration building in my gut. I let it go. I let it drift away like driftwood in the water. I didn't realize anything was happening until I heard cries of shock from the other boats of the fleet. We were moving. I stared in wonder at the only other ship moving along. Odysseus' ship. Father's ship was moving, not as fast as ours, but still moving along.
I looked back in wonder at the other ships, still stranded there in the ocean. I laughed it seemed funny. I turned around to see the Myrmidons gearing up for war. Achilles turned to me.
"Looks like we'll be the first ones there!" He shouted with glee.
I nodded in response.
"Prepare for battle Percy, we'll come ashore very soon!"
I nodded again and smiled. I readied my bow and noticed that on the beach was a battalion of Trojans waiting for us. I also noticed we were in bow range.
I casually nocked arrow and, looking over the shaft, aimed and loosed it into flight. I saw the arrow fly true, while no one else was able to follow its trajectory. It struck one of the men on the front line, the one I was aiming for, right in the neck. He collapsed abruptly, blood seeping into the sand around him. All the other men looked on in shock as I loosed two more arrows. They connected with seemingly random men along the front lines, but I knew that it was every tenth men that was shot.
The men fell into disarray, not wanting to be the one shot by the arrows that haven't missed yet.
Achilles clapped his hand to my back saying, "Good job Percy!"
He then frowned, "But did you really have to take the first, second, and third first kills in this war?"
"Sorry," I replied in a teasing tone, "I didn't realize you cared so much."
Achilles shook his head "Ready men!"
"Ready!" The Myrmidons shouted back.
The boat was just about to beach itself when Achilles shouted "To battle!"
"Yaaaaaaaaaahhhh!" The Myrmidons screamed there war cry as the jumped off the boat and into the fray, Achilles in the lead.
The Myrmidons following close behind in a arrowhead formation, driving deep into the enemy's formation, slaying all who opposed them. I on the other hand, was perfectly fine with staying on the boat; the enemy had brought no archers with them and the men with spears were a bit preoccupied at the moment with Achilles and the Myrmidons at their door step.
The men, already in disarray, began to flee to the wall that surrounded troy Achilles on their heels.
Suddenly and unexpectedly Achilles stopped, and told the Myrmidons to as well. He was still well away fromt the wall and what was left of the "greeting party" was inside. The gate and wall doors clanged and slammed shut with a Boom! I decide to leave the ship now and approach Achilles. He looked quite formidable in his blood stained armor.
"I know why you stopped." I said shortly.
"Oh yeah?" Achilles inquired.
"You didn't want to get in range of their archers." I supplied.
Patroclus, standing nearby, overheard and exclaimed "Of course, I was confused as to why we didn't chase them!"
Achilles patted him on the back saying "Patroclus, my friend. Don't let the frenzy get to you, you still have to keep your wits about you."
Patroclus grinned sheepishly back.
"We still have a temple to raid." Achilles stated gesturing to the temple of Apollo built outside the walls of Troy.
"Will you join us Perseus?" Patroclus inquired.
"Sure." I agreed
I drew my daggers and nodded to Achilles signalling that I was ready. Achilles in turn lead the Myrmidons to the temple of Apollo outside Troy. "Attack!" Achilles shouted as we came into view of the temple gates.
"Yaaaaaahhhhh!" the Myrmidons screamed their war cry once again and charged into battle.
The temple gates weren't sealed and crashed open and the soldiers in the temple were unprepared for battle, most with half or none of their armor on the rest weaponless.
I was at the head of the charge and leaped forward in a spinning leap, cutting around me. I slit the jugular of the soldier in front of me and spun into the next, with my knife in a ice-pick grip, and slashed him across the chest.
In the thick of the battle now, I parried a sword blade sent my way and stepped into the man's guard and slit his throat with my left knife. The other parried a knife thrust from another soldier. I turned to him and, using the momentum of my turn, slashed his gut spilling insides onto the temple walk.
I snatched his knife away continuing my turn, turning it into more of a spin and threw it at a soldier five feet away about to finish a Myrmidon warrior. The Myrmidon looked at me with gratification before turning and engaging in battle with the next man in line.
I turned quickly and slashed another Trojan in the leg before driving my other blade into his chin. I then spun forward and hit nothing. I took a moment to look around, still in a ready stance and saw that we had defeated our enemies. We had won this fight. The only survivors were some lucky priests of the temple.
"Go gather the offerings." Achilles ordered.
I turned to Achilles "No, don't."
Achilles then turned to me questioningly.
"Do you really want to anger another god?" I questioned
"Hmmmm," Achilles mumbled "I guess not..."
I nodded in approval and Achilles took it away. He turned to the Myrmidons and ordered "Set up camp! What are you waiting for?!? Nightfall!? Get moving!"
The Myrmidons murmured cheerfully as we moved towards the beach to set up camp.
Time skip of Epicness time skip of Awsomeness is my brother...
By the time the Myrmidons had camp set up and many fires cheerfully crackling away. had finally arrived. Achilles had taken a liking to one of the priestesses at the temple named Briseis. They were currently walking the beach together. When Agamemnon ordered his troops to take all the valuables from the temple of Apollo. After some arguing with his advisers, the soldiers ran off to do his bidding. They came back with many women, food and treasure. It was despicable. Only two parties didn't take part, Achilles and the Myrmidons as well as my father.
Nothing else happened that day... Until nightfall...
