Chapter 1 part 2 - Meeting at a library
A/N - I own everything in this story and I tried my best to make it historically accurate, but no promises though, as I might have to look up websites and such to make sure it's accurate since I forgot nearly everything I learnt in my old history class as I only remember the most important parts, but not the minor details. I hope you guys enjoyed it.
Janet and Dorothy get themselves ready as they walk to the exit as they see Rebecca, who is smoking while talking to her husband.
"... Can you stop smoking for a moment?" Dorothy asked rudely, "It stinks in here!"
"Ahem, said by a non-smoker," Rebecca teased her, "Seriously? You really need to start smoking. I think you're starting having unwanted thoughts right now,"
"I rather keep my thoughts then smoking something," Dorothy replied, "Good day, sis!"
Dorothy walks out of the mansion while Janet follows her, leaving her older sister and brother in law.
(Meanwhile)
A very tall and handsome black man with short, black hair, dark brown eyes, wears a white dress shirt, brown trousers and black, worn-out shoes walking down the streets and to a library, in which the white people stare at him and starts whispering to each other, which he sighs.
"..." The man keeps quiet as he looks around the bookshelves.
The two women enter the same library as Janet and Dorothy notice the stares.
"...I'll... just go to the left," Janet told her.
"...Well, I'll go the right then," Dorothy said as the two looks around the library.
Dorothy walks through the shelves and looking through each bookes.
"...Ah, here is some romance books," Dorothy smiled, "Now... which ones would Sheila like... since she needs some runaway books to cope with her messed up marriage,"
She looks up and pouts, feeling annoyed as some of the books are too high for her, as she is only five feet tall.
"...Damn it... if only I have Rebecca's tall height, I would be able to reach it..." Dorothy muttered.
"Ahem... do you need help, ma'am?"
"H-Huh?"
She turns her head and sees the black man, which makes her blush a bit, but shakes her head.
"Y..yeah, some help would be nice, thank you..." Dorothy said politely, "Oh god... I... I shouldn't be interested in him... I'll be in massive trouble if I end up falling for him... though, even when my parents told me how ugly black men are... he is quite handsome and seems very polite... unlike that rascal..."
"Ahem... ma'am... you okay?" The man asked her.
"O-Oh! Ah... yeah, I'm fine," Dorothy quickly replied as the man managed to pick up some of the books from the upper shelves, "Thank you, so... what's your name?
"... Ahem... George... George Freeman," The man named George told her, "I never thought I would be asked for my name by a white person, especially a white woman... though, it is very refreshing and nice to be called by my name instead of n****, negro and other black racist nicknames..."
"I'm Dorothy Evans," The blonde haired woman told him, "Ahem... well... it was very nice of you helping with the books..."
"Yeah... I'm happy to lend a hand..." George said. "Ahem... do... do you want to meet again... tomorrow...?"
"...But... wouldn't people be hateful?"
"Not unless it takes place in the night," George said, "Sure, it's not exactly safe, but it would be fewer people out there and I have practised boxing before, so I'll protect you if anything happens,"
"...Okay, I guess hanging out with someone besides Janet would be nice," Dorothy admitted, "So... yes..."
"That's good," George said, "So... should I pick you up at your pad at eight thirty PM?"
"No... I...how about we meet up at the pad we're going to,"
"Yeah, that sounds like a better idea," George agreed, "Alright... how about a bar called Rise and Shine Bar?"
"...Yeah... a nice glass of wine would be nice," Dorothy said, "Especially since when my marriage with HIM is coming up..."
"Alright, well... did you pick any books you like?" George asked.
"Oh!" Dorothy said, "It's for my younger sister, actually,"
"Ah, okay,"
"...I'll picks this one," Dorothy said as she grabs a dark violet book.
"Okay, in that case, I'll put those other ones away," George said as he puts away the rest of the books.
"Thank you... see you tomorrow," Dorothy said.
"You welcome," George replied as he continues walking around while Dorothy heads to the exit.
"Dorothy!" Janet called out as she gives a magenta book to the blonde-haired woman, "Here is a book for Sheila,"
"Ah, good," Dorothy said, "Well, let's start taking them, then"
Janet nods as the two went up to the librarian and goes out of the library as they walk back home.
A/N - And that's George, the male protagonist, everyone! Before you guys get confused, rascal is used, in an old-fashioned way, for a rogue or a villain, which the latter fits James to a T.
I hope I did a good job and if you did, leave a comment and have a good day, my ninja clan. See you next Saturday. Kuno out!
