The Date
Chris' POV
Klaus had never told me how to dress so I dressed casually with a hint of dressy. I didn't want to appear too dressy but I didn't want to appear plain either. So a dress shirt, dark jeans and my usual black and white converse were what I turned up with. I also gelled my hair into a quiff and hoped it was enough.
I was standing outside my dorm complex, waiting for Klaus to come pick me up. I spotted Connor walking towards me.
"Hey Chris." He said.
"Hi." I say with a small smile on my face.
"Where are you going?" Connor asks curiously.
I barely glance at him seeing as I'm busy trying to spot Klaus. "I have a date. With Klaus."
Connor looks horrified and he opens his mouth to say something but I cut him off. "Connor, the guys harmless. It's just a date."
"Chris, I'm telling you. He's dangerous." Connor insisted.
Beginning to get annoyed, I looked at him and said, "Look. Whatever you and him went through in the past is just that...in the past. I like him and whether or not you like it, I'm going on this date with Klaus."
My eyes subconsciously scanned the treeline and I saw Klaus pull up to the curb. I smiled.
"So suck it up." I added and made my way over to his car, leaving Connor standing there alone.
Klaus stepped out of the car and walked around to my side opening it for me. He smiled at me and said,
"You look extravagant tonight."
I smiled brightly and said in turn, "Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself."
Klaus tilted his head in response and closed the door after I got in. He got in the driver's seat and as he drove off I couldn't help but look in the rearview window and watch as Connor faded out of sight.
*******
Klaus ended up taking me to this fancy restaurant called Apolline where he asked for a table for two. Almost immediately they took us to our table and sat us down.
A waiter with blond hair and hazel eyes walked over to our table with a pen and a notepad. His name tag said Taylor.
He smiled at us. "Hi I'm Taylor and I'll be your waitress for the night." He turned his smile to me. "What can I get you to drink?"
"Water please." I say.
He nodded and turned to Klaus. "And what can I get you?"
"Wine thank you." Klaus told him with a hint of a smirk on his lips.
The waiter walked away to go get our drinks and I found Klaus staring at me. "What?"
He shook his head. "Nothing. I've just never seen someone so...beautiful."
I blushed. "You're just saying that." I say avoiding eye contact.
"No. I mean every word I said. You're beautiful." Klaus insisted.
"You really think so?" I looked up at his face slowly, feeling shy.
Klaus smirked. "I see it so."
*******
After dinner Klaus took me to the state fair. It was on the docks of New Orleans harbor so it was a little far from the dorms but I didn't care. I was having too much fun to think about that.
Klaus and I went into the house of mirrors and I came out in a fit of giggles because he hated mirrors and he tried his best to avoid them.
Next we went into the house of horrors and let me tell you...that was not a good idea. I clung to Klaus' arm the whole time. When we came out I was so scared that when he tried to pull away, I cried.
Klaus actually laughed at me. And guess what? I got him back by getting ice cream and dumbing it over his head. He stopped laughing and narrowed his eyes at me.
I'm so dead, I thought and ran away from him. He chased after me but I knew he would and could catch me. And so did he. Eventually he had enough and sped up, knocking me to the ground and falling on top of me.
I stared up at his face, realizing just how close our faces were. He stared back down at me, his eyes leaving mine once to glance at my lips. And before I knew it, Klaus was kissing me.
I kissed back immediately, reaching up and grasping a handful of his hair in my fists, trying to bring him closer. He moved one of his hands to grip my waist and the other to cup my cheek. I melted into the kiss and I loved it.
Kissing Klaus made it feel like I was on a whole different planet. And I loved it.
When he pulled away, I was slightly disappointed but we stared at each other for several long moments. He was running his fingers through my hair and I sighed. Another hand cupped my cheek and I closed my eyes, leaning into it. I loved his touch. I craved it.
"We should get going." Klaus whispered in my ear.
I opened my eyes, smiling softly. "Okay."
Klaus stood up and pulled me with him. He grabbed my hand and began leading me back to the car. As he was though this little girl ran out into the street in front of an incoming truck whilst her mother screamed and seeing what was going to happen I ripped my hand from his and sprinted towards the little girl. With seconds to spare I scooped the girl up into my arms and jumped out of the way, making sure that she was safe from the impact.
Standing up, I carried the little girl over to her mother who was hysterical. I handed her of and the lady smiled through her tears.
"Thank you so much for saving my baby!"
I smiled back. "It was the right thing to do ma'am. I'm just glad I was able to help."
I turned around only to find Klaus right behind me, a shocked expression on his face. But in his eyes was the look of worry.
"You saved that little girl." He breathed. "Why?"
I watched the little girl and her mother while I answered. "I saw what was about to happen so I did the only thing that came to mind... I saved her."
I walked towards Klaus' car and heard him following behind me. If I had acted a lot slower that little girl would be dead and her mother would be devastated and heartbroken.
When we reached the car someone stepped out of the shadows and confronted us.
"Diego what in devils name are you doing here?" Klaus asked.
"Marcel's orders."
"What orders?" Klaus demanded.
"Orders to bring him in." The guy said pointing at me.
Me?
I looked at Klaus for an explanation and he growled at Diego. "Over my dead body."
Diego laughed. "You're already dead."
And with that he lunged at me and out of pure instinct I jumped back, kicking him in the chest. "Woah." I muttered. "Looks like those fighting classes my parents had me take actually pay off."
But at that moment I was tackled to the ground and my head cracked against the concrete. My vision blacked out for a second and I pushed myself up, groaning in pain.
Klaus was busy fighting Diego but two other guys ganged up on me. I backed away. I was off balance and dizzy due to hitting my head and this wasn't looking too good for me.
One thing I was absolutely sure of. I wasn't going anywhere without a fight.
Klaus' POV
I broke Diego's neck and turned to Chris, who had two vampires hanging up on him. I stepped in and broke one of their necks while Chris was thrown into a statue by the other. A sickening crack filled my ears and I watched as Chris fell limply to the ground, unconscious.
I quickly ripped the vampires head off, tossing it somewhere but not caring and rushed over to Chris's limp in moving form. He was still breathing that much I knew. But it was weak.
I picked him up bridalstyle and hurried to get him into my car. Once he was safely buckled in I stepped on the gas and floored it back to the manor.
