Chapter 6
(A/N) Hi. Enjoy my story! (I'm trying to keep the author's note to a minimum). Love y'all so much even though I can't write a lot of stuff here! <3

I pushed my plate away and sighed contentedly. That was some good food. My parents were great cooks, but their tuna casserole can't compete with this. This, is what I call 'heaven on a plate'.
I looked around. There were still a lot of kids that weren't finished with their food yet. I decided to spend some time reading. I went to Professor McGonagall.
"Excuse me? Sorry to bother you, but do you know if Hogwarts has a library?" I asked.
"Of course, Ms. Granger. It's a bit off a corridor on this floor. You'll see a sign." she replied, smiling.
"Thank you." I smiled back, and went on my way. But just as I got out, I saw movement in the corner of my eye and whipped my head around to see Malfoy and Zabini disappear around a corner. Hmm. They look suspicious. But I can't follow them. I didn't want to land a detention on the first day of school! So I kept walking.
But my curiosity got the better of me, and before I took ten steps, I whirled around and sprinted toward the direction the boys headed off to, keeping my feet quiet. I skidded to a halt when I see them as I turn the corner. I quickly duck behind the wall, but I can feel the boys look back with suspicious eyes.
I waited until their footsteps died out, then continued following them, but at a safe distance. That was a close one! I thought. I followed them a floor down from the main floor, to the dungeons, next to the potions lab and Slytherin common room. They rounded another corner, and came to a stop in front of a storage closet. Huh. Didn't expect that. Then Malfoy reached for the doorknob, but Zabini suddenly looked back. Right. At. Me.
Busted.
"Ah, what do we owe the pleasure of your company, Miss Hermione!" he said, smirking.
"Nothing. I'm just heading to the library. And don't call me Miss Hermione." I snapped, feeling my cheeks heating up. Well, at least I was heading to the library. Emphasis on 'was'. I looked back at Malfoy, to see his reaction. He just stared at me, then shook his head violently, his cheeks turning red. Why? I don't know. What's happening in that twisted little mind of his, nobody knows. The sound of Zabini's voice made me snap back to attention.
"Well, you obviously don't know your way around, Hermione, as the library is a floor from here," Zabini replied smoothly, ignoring my last sentence, "Would you like me to escort you?"
"No, I can walk by myself, thanks." I retorted, trying to be as smooth as Zabini but failing miserably, and I could tell my cheeks were getting redder by the second. I wasn't really the talking type. I bet you could tell. I would rather prefer being on a comfy, warm armchair with a good book, then talking one-on-one with Zabini in front of a storage closet. I glared at him one more time, then turned on my heel and headed for the staircases, not looking back. But this one thought kept coming back to my head, no matter how hard I try to push it out.
What were they trying to do, and what is going to happen?
