Chapter 2
(A/N) Hello all you lovely people out there! If you can read this, it means you haven't given up on this story yet, so thank you! Sorry if the last chapter was a bit short. I will try to make longer chapters, it's just that finding a good cliffhanger can be a bit tricky at times. So yeah. Anyhoo-sies, enough chitchat, let's get on to the story! And also, if you even read this random junk, you are amazing! Love you all soo much! <3

I jumped to my feet and threw open the train door. Looking up the aisle, I spotted a slightly stout boy with dark brown hair and a sweating red face wildly looking around.
"Um, can I help you?" I asked. The boy whirled around.
"Uh, y-yeah." his face brightened. "I'm Neville. My toad, Trevor, ran away! Can you help me find him? He's a greenish-brown, and about this big." Neville showed my with his hands the size of a medium bullfrog.
"Sure!" I agreed, smiling. "I'll ask around." Neville smiled.
"Thanks, um..."
"Hermione."
"Thanks, Hermione."
"It's fine. I'll tell you when I find him."
And we parted opposite directions, calling for Trevor. I opened a train room. In it sat three boys, two of them heavily built and brunette, and one of them very pale with white-blonde hair, all of whom were looking very bored.
"Hi. Have any of you seen a greenish-brown toad? A person on this train lost his." I said to them. They all turned and looked at me, the two brunettes just looked at me blinking stupidly, and the pale one just staring into my eyes. It was a bit unnerving, really.
"Well?" I prompted.
"None of your business, you filthy little Mudblood." snapped the pale one. Mudblood? What does that mean? Whatever it is, it doesn't sound like a compliment. I glared at the boy, my opinion of him getting worse by the second. He just smirked.
"Well, if none of you know know the toad's whereabouts, then I don't see any reason to stay here longer." I sniffed and whirled around on my heel, shutting the compartment door in the process. I went to the next compartment, where there was a skinny boy with messy jet black hair and large round glasses, and a tall freckled red-headed boy, both munching on sweets that we're sprawled in the space between them. The black-haired boy looked up at me when I opened the door, but the red-headed seemed to not have noticed, stuffing pumpkin pastry in his mouth as if his life depended on it.
"Hello. Have any of you seen a toad? A boy named Neville's lost his." I asked, hoping for a better response then the last one.
"No, not yet." the black-haired boy replied, smiling at me. The red-head didn't even glance up, now working on a treacle tart. I cleared my throat loudly.
"What? I'm trying to eat here," he mumbled irritatedly, finally acknowledging my presence.
"I said-"
"No."
"Okay, then." I said, turning back to the black-haired boy, who was obviously a nicer person. Then I took a closer look at him.
"Jeepers, you must be Harry Potter!" I exclaimed, recognising the lightning-shaped scar that had been revealed when he turned to look back at me. It had previously been obstructed from my view by his messy bangs, just so you know. I'm not that blind. I sat down on the opposite side, facing both the boys. I know I shouldn't be lingering - Neville must be worried sick! - but surely the search party could wait a bit. I mean, it's not everyday you meet a legendary person!
"Uh, yeah." he responded, smiling awkwardly as if he didn't know he was, like, one of the most famous wizards ever. I had read about him in a book. He was the only person to ever survive a Killing Curse, cast by the most powerful dark wizard of practically all time, while only a baby!
"I'm Hermione Granger, by the way." I introduced myself, wanting to make a good first impression. Then I turned to the red-head. "And you are...?"
