"Hey, uh, can I come in?"

   "No! Go away!"

   "It's Blaise."

   I stop.

   "Fine."

Blaise openned the door and came to sit on my bed. I sulked in a corner, twisted into the sheets like it was a cocoon that I could hide from the rest of the world in.

"Hey, mate, you need to attend classes. I can't lie for you forever; they'll find out, whether we like it or not, you know."

   I shook my head.

I hadn't gone to class since the day I obliviated Granger.

   "Well, at least eat something."

Oh, by the way, I hadn't eaten either.

I shook my head again, ignoring my stomach's protests.

"You can't just slowly kill yourself."

I knew he's right, but, for the moment, I didn't care.

   "Please!"

   "No." I said bluntly.

   "Just one time."

   "No."

   "Come on."

   "No."

"Fine. Let them find out, then."

He got off my bed and went out the door, shutting it behind him. I just lay there.

But a small part of my mind nagged at me, a small part that wanted to see Granger again. And he was right. I couldn't just kill myself.

Slowly, reluctantly, I dragged myself out of bed. I went into the bathroom. I turned the shower on to the maximum temperature.

While I waited, I looked into the mirror.

   And saw somebody else.

He had messed up blonde hair sticking all over the place, dull grey tired eyes with bags under them, and his skin was ashen. He.... didn't look very......healthy?

I was relieved when the mirror started fogging up. Now I don't have to see the ugly truth. I stripped myself of my smelly, wrinkled clothes, and stepped into the shower, letting the hot water wash over me and let the reality wash down the drain along with the sweet smelling soap.

   At least for a bit.

I combed my fingers through my hair one last time and stepped out if the shower, wrapping a light green towel with a Slytherin crest around me. I went to my room and put on fresh clothes, draping a cloak over myself. It was winter, and the days were getting colder. I then proceeded to go out the door for the first time in days.

I got a few stares, but that was okay. I caught sight of Blaise and called to him. He whirled around and saw me, a smile breaking out on his face. Then, he put his fingers to his lips and beckoned for me to come closer.

   I did.

And just around the corner, was Granger, talking to Professor McGonagall. My breath caught in my throat. It was almost if a beam of light was shining on her; she looked so angelic.

Blaise then mouthed 'Potions' to me, and I understood that he meant to say that we had Potions first. We skirted around Granger, who just gave us a queer look and returned her attention to McGonagall. We then arrived at the Potions room a minute later. We went in. A couple stares at me, probably because I hadn't attended class in so long, but I held my head high and sat down next to Blaise.

Snape then walked into the room not a minute later. He gave us the usual greeting glare, then turned to the chalkboard and flicked his wand. A piece of chalk floated into the air, and began to write. 'Curing Potions. Choose one below, and turn to the appropriate page and begin to brew.' I sighed. It was going well so far. Then, Snape said the four words I had dreaded: "I will assign partners."

I sucked in a breath. With my luck, I was going to go paired with Granger. And I was right.

"Zabini, Brown," Blaise nodded to me before heading to Brown's desk.

"Finnigan, Bulstrode," This sandy haired kid joined a Millicent, who glared at him. I couldn't help but snicker. They looked so comical together: the small and thin blonde with huge dark haired Millicent giving him evil stares while he tried to shrink out of view.

The names got called, one by one, until only Granger and I were left.

"Malfoy, Granger. Now you may begin." I walked slowly to Granger's desk, moving as slowly as I could without being noticed that I was trying to move slow. It wasn't really working well. She frowned at me, and shook her head.

"You get the book to the right page, I get the supplies. Which one do you want to brew?" She asked, pointing at the board. I shrugged. She scanned the board. "Let's do the Boils Cure Potion." And with that, she turned away toward the supply table, leaving me to wonder why she had been so nice. But I quickly snapped out of it and flipped to page 471. Boils Cure. Add 6 snake fangs to the motar...

She returned not a minute later, and plopped down the supplies in front of us. She scanned the book, then started working, her nimble fingers flying over the cauldron, her brow slightly creased, and her chocolate eyes trained on the bubbling contents of the cauldron. I couldn't help but stare. Then she glared at me.

"Get to work, and stop sitting there like the lazy little slug that you are, Malfoy." She hissed. So much for being nice. She handed me two porcupine quills, and our fingers met slightly. A shiver went down my spine. She went back to reading the book. I sighed, stirring the now-filled-with-porcupine-quills potion. Soon, it was a shade of blue, exactly what the book said. Snape came over to us with long strides.

"Hm. First ones finished. Should've known, putting the two best students together," he muttered. Granger cleared her throat.

"Excuse me, professor, but can we-I-go somewhere, like, say, the library, because we're finished?"

"Sure, yeah, whatever, do what you like."

She pranced off to the library, her frizzy hair bouncing off her back. I gathered up my stuff and decided to follow her. She went through the bookshelves, and stopped a certain book. I peered through the books, and could hardly make out the title, and what I saw made my eyes widen: Memory Spells and How to Brew Them.
