Chapter 4

That evening, after dinner, I went up to my room and laid on my bed with my laptop sitting on my chest. As I checked my Twitter I thought about what he had said when he left: "Oh look at the time... I think it's time I get going." He seemed like he was in such a hurry to leave, was it something that I'd said? Did I make him feel too uncomfortable when I got lost in his eyes?

I closed my laptop and went over everything that I had said to him, apart from the awkward stutter here and there I didn't think that I did anything to make him want to leave too quickly. Mum had stayed upstairs, too, just like she promised because she told me that she had a nap and read some of her books. So if it wasn't any of those things, then what was it?

When I closed my eyes to go to sleep, I tried so hard to try and think about him. Tried to control my dreams and force my mind to relive that afternoon when he was in my house and was sitting on my couch. But unfortunately it didn't work, instead, I dreamt of him and I arguing and then him leaving in such a rush that it was like he had super-speed as he sprinted down my street to the train station where he would then go home. It was terrible.

The next morning I received a message on my Twitter from him: "Sorry Dan about my exit yesterday. I just had some... business... to attend to. Can we do it again sometime?" Maybe I was just being paranoid, maybe he actually had a good time, but that dream last night that couldn't have just come from nowhere. I couldn't have just thought up super-speed out of nowhere, could I?

Once again, mum was making breakfast and the scent of it made me get out of bed and go downstairs to eat it. I walked down to the kitchen, mmm... pancakes. I loved pancakes, and mum knew that too. I sat down at the table and rested my head back on the back of my chair. A few moments later, mum came and placed a small stack of pancakes in front of me.

I grabbed the small cup of maple syrup and drowned my pancakes in it. These pancakes were amazing, mum always cooked them to perfection.

Ding Ding.

The doorbell?

What the hell? It was only 10:00 in the morning, who would be at the door at this time of morning. Mum yelled "I'm coming!" and hurried to finish another few pancakes before she rushed to the door. She opened the door with a smile, no sign of annoyance on her face at the fact that someone had interrupted our breakfast.

"Oh," she said with a large smile on her face, I tried to position my head so that I could see who was at the door, "Well, come right in. I've heard a lot about you!" The person stepped in through the door, and my eyebrows rose in surprise.

"Hey Dan," he said. What was he doing here? And so early?

"Hi," I said, my voice was full of surprise and it was easy to tell, too. He came and sat down next to me at the table, and before I could say anything else he smiled and gestured to my half-naked body.

"Um.." His blue eyes looked me up and down. I looked down, crap. I had not gotten dressed since getting up this morning, and mum didn't care that I walked around in my boxers as she was used to it. What she's my mum? She gave birth to me, do you think that she would care about me walking around with just boxers on?

I pulled the table cloth up to my neck, and of course, it was a stupid move as my plate fell on the floor and the pancakes and maple syrup splattered everywhere. He just laughed, and I felt my cheeks turn red.
