Chapter 3

The next morning a thought hit me like I had had a brick thrown at my head. We never worked out when he was going to get here. To take my mind off worrying about it, I groggily walked downstairs to the kitchen, where I could smell mum cooking bacon and eggs.

I let the smell guide me, as I walked with my eyes half-closed. "Morning," Mum said in her usual cheerful voice, I just looked at her and grunted. Too tired to answer. I went over to the table and let my butt sink into the chair. "One or two eggs?" she asked, I held up one finger and plonked my head down on the table. I wasn't a morning person.

It didn't matter whether I had something interesting happening that day or if what I had planned was as boring as heck, I just never seemed to be able to properly wake up for hours after getting out of bed. Despite still be exhausted, I ate my breakfast and went up to my room for a shower.

I dropped my clothes on my bedroom floor, grabbed a towel from the cupboard and went into the shower. Hot showers always seemed to help me wake up. As I was rinsing the shampoo out of my hair, my phone beeped on the vanity next to the sink.

I cleared away the water drops and fog on the shower glass and angled my head to see what the notification said. It read: Twitter notification - "Hey, are you decent? I am just a few blocks away." It was him, he was almost here!

I quickly dried myself and put on my normal attire; black tight jeans, black t-shirt, a jacket and a pair of black leather high-tops. I opened my drawer and rummaged through to find the small black comb, I grabbed it and brushed my hair dry making sure that it sat perfectly.

Flinging open my bathroom door, I sprinted downstairs to the sitting room where I leant on the couch trying to catch my breath. Only a few minutes went by before the doorbell rang, I shooed Mum out of the room and told her to stay upstairs until I was ready for her to come down. Then with a shaky hand, I latched onto the door handle and gently I opened it.

There he was, standing on my front porch with a large smile on his face. "Hi, it's great to finally meet you!" His hair gently swayed in the breeze and the smile never left his face, even as I stood there unable to move with words stuck in my throat.

"Ha-hi," I said trying to sound brave, but it was no use, my voice was still shaky. He just stood there awkwardly

waiting for me to invite him in, but I just couldn't bring myself to move. Grow some balls, Dan! I thought to myself. "Uh-uh, come inside," I said as I gestured for him to come in and sit down.

Lucky for me, mum stayed upstairs. I offered him some food and something to drink, and we talked for what seemed like forever. I kept having to pull myself out of the trance that his blue eyes kept putting over me.

After about three hours of sitting, talking, eating and drinking, he looked at his watch. "Oh look at the time," he said, "I think it's time I get going."
