Chapter 1
Today was the day, I was finally going to see the man of my dreams. We had been tweeting for ages, and when I had started replying to them with things like "I love Muse as well" and stuff like that, I was afraid that maybe I would have been considered too creepy for his likings. But alas! I managed to score a meeting with him.
As I approached the front door, my mum stopped me. "Have you got everything that you need, Dan?" she asked.
"Yes mum," I replied in annoyance, "I have my camera and spare change and don't worry I have my phone fully charged, too, I'm fine. Can I go now?" She just gave me a warm smile and nodded. Mum knew exactly how important this was for me, and with a smile and a brief wave, I rushed out of the house.
I basically ran to the train station (which is saying something because I don't run or do any that involves exercise), although that wasn't fast enough. I missed my train. I couldn't believe it, what would he think? That I decided that I had better things to do and I'd ditched him? Or, that I was a chicken and could go ahead with it? My one chance to meet him, and I'd blown it.
I sulked around the train station for half an hour, I think I sat on every bench that was there. Every time I asked a person at the ticket booth whether they had a ticket to go to the place I needed to go, I always got the same answer: "No, sorry. That train is full." God damn it! After an hour of trying, I decided to give up and go home.
As I slowly walked down the street, towards home, a tear ran down my cheek. My phone vibrated in my pocket and I reached for it. Mum. She was probably ringing to ask if I got on my train okay and whether I was safe. I swiped the answer option and put the phone to my ear.
"Hey Mum," I said my voice was full of sorrow. As I waited for mum to reply I kicked at a loose stone that was right near my foot in front of me on the footpath.
"Hi sweetie," she said, then she seemed to know that there was something wrong when she'd only heard me say two words. "What's the matter? Are you are okay? Are you hurt?" She panicked.
"Mum calm down, I just.. I missed my train," I said. She told that it was okay, that I could always tweet him saying that I missed my train and that everything would work out fine. I just listened to her attempt to comfort me, but got sick of hearing: "It's okay, it'll be fine". So I decided to just say, "Alright Mum, I will talk to you when I get home. I'm okay." I reassured her.
