To Come Up with Ideas

After school, the five friends spent their time at their favourite cafe working on their homework and drinking their coffee and tea. And they also had some cookies for snack while doing so. It was quite a relaxing time for the five friends to work together and help each with their homework and stuff. Edmund was also doing his assignment, but he couldn't help think how badly Chloe hit on him earlier today at school.

"I can't believe how awful our recess went!" Dawn said in disbelief, sipping her cup of peppermint tea. Edmund made a huffy breath. "I know..I can't stand Chloe...!" He complained.

"Me neither!' Lucy huffed.

"We should just keep away from her and her friends." Susan suggested, still working tirelessly on her school homework. Peter nodded. "It's the only way."

"If it gets worse, we need to tell our teachers about it." Dawn added. Edmund sighed. "Maybe." The others nodded. "Those girls are bullies." Dawn said. "They depend on us to speak up for ourselves." Edmund nodded. "And that's what I'm going to do." He said.

Dawn also thought of what she and her friends could do to get her parents and her brother to reconcile with the Pevensie family. "And what about our parents not approving our friendships?" She asked. "What can we do in order for them to reconcile and allow us to be friends?"

"Hmmm how about a party?" Lucy suggested. Susan hesitated. "I'm not sure about that." She said. "I think we can bring our mums over so they can try and talk to each other. Because they seemed to have more sense." Dawn nodded. "Yeah. Because my mum also told me about the story of their rivalry."

"And plus, you know how my father gets when he sees me with...you four." She added. Peter nodded. "Yeah." The others agreed on what their friend said. Dawn sighed sadly, but she had another idea. "Well...we have church on Sunday. Maybe we could talk to our priest about this situation. Maybe that might help." She suggested her friends and boyfriend.

Edmund smiled. "That may be the best." He perked up.

"Yeah, I agree." Peter said.

~Time skip~

It was Sunday morning and it was the day the Pevensies and the Jamesons go to church. Dawn put on one of her Sunday bests, a short puffed sleeve powder blue dress with a matching belt and hat, and a pair of black Mary Jane shoes. The families drove to the local church not so far from their homes. The Jameson family sat on a pew on one aisle and the Pevensie family sat on a pew on the other aisle away from each other. Dawn noticed Peter in a navy blazer with matching trousers and a tie. She gave him a little wave. Peter smiled and waved back until Helen and Henry gave their son a sharp looks. Peter rolled his eyes but stopped.

Then, the priest walked up to the pulpit and welcomed all the people in the church. "Good morning, my friends!" He announced with a smile. "Welcome, everyone. Let us all stand together in worship. And let us celebrate and give thanks for this day the Lord has made!" The lady began to play the organ and everybody stood up and sang some hymns along with the choir. Then, they listened to the priest's sermon, lecture and read some Bible verses. After that, people sang the closing hymns and the church service was wrapped up. People were at the the church dining place having some food, drinks and refreshments. Samuel was chatting with a group of men while Henry was sitting at the table drinking a cup of coffee with a few people nearby. Daniel was talking and laughing with Jane and a group of kids while Peter and Edmund were having a chat with a priest. Dawn was searching for her mother as well as Susan and Lucy.

Dawn tapped on her mother's shoulder. Penelope turned to her daughter. "Yes, dear?" She asked.

"Come with me." Dawn said. Susan and Lucy brought their mother over to where their friend and Penelope were. The girls looked on nervously as their mothers faced each other. The mother's raised a brow; they were a bit hesitant, but they began to talk to each other. Susan smiled and whispered. "This was a good idea." Lucy and Dawn nodded and gave her a wink. The girls smiled. Then after that, the families headed back home from church. Susan and Lucy were happy that her mother and Penelope befriended each other, and they couldn't be more happier.

"So, now that you've met Mrs. Jameson, What do you think of her, Mum?" Susan asked.

"She was nice and sweet." Her mother said. Lucy smiled. "She really is." She agreed. Momentarily. Henry, Peter and Edmund appeared near them.

"Who?" Henry asked.

"Penelope Jameson." Helen replied.

Edmund tilted his head. "Dawn's mum?" Helen nodded. "Yes, very lovely woman." She said with a smile. Henry raised an eyebrow. "But..why did you have to meet her?" He asked his wife. Helen scrunched up her nose. "I'm not sure." She stammered. Lucy looked a little nervous. "I guess it just happened..." She stammered. "But trust us, dad. Dawn, her sister and Mrs. Jameson are wonderful people." Susan, Peter and Edmund nodded.

"Yeah, dad." Edmund said. "You should meet them someday."

Henry just nodded a little. "Well...I'll think about it." He said. The kids nodded.

Meanwhile, the Jameson family arrived at their house and got themselves settled. Dawn couldn't help but think how the reconciliation between her mother and Helen went. "Mum, what are your thoughts of Mrs. Pevensie?" She asked her mother. Her mother shrugged. "She is a great listener."

Dawn nodded. "Yeah, I'd say so." She said. "You should've met Peter and Edmund too. They're like total British gentlemen." Dawn let out a dreamy sigh. "Very chivalrous..." Penelope and Jane wiggled their eyebrows. Daniel made a disgusted look. "Ew." He gagged. Dawn turned to her brother. "Ew to yourself."

"I'm telling!" Daniel shouted and hurried to the living room to tell Samuel.

"Danny, don't!" Dawn warned her brother, but he wouldn't listen. "DAAD!" Daniel called out to his father. "Dawn met the Pevensies agaaaiin!"

"WHAT?!" Samuel exploded, slamming his newspaper he was reading shut. Samuel called out to Dawn. "Dawn Isabella Jameson!" Dawn groaned and she, her mother and sister went to the living room. "Yes?" She said nervously.

"WHAT did I tell you?!" Her father angrily scolded. Penelope sighed. "It's fine, Sam." She tried to defend her daughter. But Samuel wouldn't buy it.

"Fine?" Samuel kept on being mad at his daughter. "It's fine?! Are you kidding me?!"

Dawn tried to reason with her father. "But dad, those family are good people. They're nice to me." Her father won't buy her words, again. "NO!" He yelled. "Go to your room!"

Dawn burst into tears and stormed upstairs. "Thanks a lot, Danny!" She yelled at her brother as she went. Daniel just rolled his eyes and walked away. Penelope turned to her husband. "Honey, that was very uncalled for!" She reprimanded him. Samuel looked at his wife. "You know they're awful!" He told her.

"But you shouldn't judge people until you get to know them better, dear." Penelope said. Jane nodded.

Samuel shook his head. "I have met them!" He said in a frustrated voice.

"Well, it's been a long time ago." Penelope tried to talk him out. "I'm sure maybe something in them have changed." Her husband didn't like that. "I doubt it." He scoffed. Penelope sighed. "Well, I suppose you might have to see for yourself." She said as she started to go upstairs.

Samuel made a huffy breath. "Fine." He said. "You do you."

His wife just nodded and went up to Dawn's room where she was crying. Penelope opened the door. "Dawn?"  Her daughter answered. "Yes, I'm here." Dawn sniffled. Penelope entered her daughter's room and hugged her. Dawn hugged her mother back. "Why does dad have to be so hot-tempered and stubborn?!" Dawn cried.

Penelope sighed. "Ever since he got back, he has been this way." She answered.

Dawn sighed. "How did you overcome it after he returned?" She asked. Penelope shrugged. "I just prayed for courage and strength." She told her. "And there had been times where he needed his own time and space."

Dawn nodded and sighed. "I just hope he gets help." She sniffled. Her mother nodded and kissed her forehead.

"We might have to figure out something to get him reconcile with them." Dawn decided. Penelope nodded with agreement. After some time calming down, Dawn changed back from her church clothes into her home clothes. And the mother and daughter headed downstairs to cook and make lunch for the family.
