Springtime and the Rescue
~the next day~
Edmund and Esther were awaken by the opening of the dungeon gates.
"Wake up, you lazy fools!" The dwarf yelled. Esther groaned. "You do not speak to me like that!" She yelled. Edmund groaned as he got up.
"I can speak in any way I want!" The dwarf retorted. "Now let's get moving!" He dragged both Edmund and Esther out of the dungeons and out into the courtyard where they discovered a new statue of Mr. Tumnus. The White Witch has turned him into stone. Edmund saw at the statue with a stunned look. And Esther gasped as she put her hand over her mouth.
"When you're ready, Son of Adam and Daughter of Aslan." The Witch announced them. Esther and Edmund nodded and followed Jadis. Edmund sat on the sleigh beside Jadis by her left and Esther sat by her right. The sleigh swept out of the ice castle and across the frozen lake surrounding it. Edmund and Esther looked at Jadis in fear, and she sat upright with pride and arrogance, covered up in white fur.
~Later~
Jadis was still on her way to find the other children along with Edmund, her daughter and the dwarf. They, well more like she has still given up on it. She realized that all of the ice and snow were melted and the entire land was all green and colorful. The four of them stood on the bank staring down at the flowing river now completely melted. "It's so warm out here." The dwarf said as he shrugged off his coat. Jadis gave him a look and Esther took off her cape.
"I'll go and check the sleigh." The dwarf corrected himself and Edmund gave him a smirk. And then they were called by the wolves carrying a fox in its mouth. "Mr. Fox!" Esther gasped.
Jadis looked at her daughter. "So you know this fox?" Esther nodded yes nervously and Jadis raised an eyebrow.
"Your majesty." Maugrim announced. "We found a traitor. He was rallying your enemies near the Shuddering Woods." He threw the Fox onto the ground. "Mr. Fox are you okay?" Esther ran to the poor fox and helped him up. "Step aside, Esther!" Jadis snapped. Esther stood her ground. "No!" Jadis pushed her daughter aside to the ground and Edmund helped her up. Esther sighed, but for some reason she didn't let Edmund's hand go.
"Ah. Nice of you to drop in." Jadis said as she turned to the fox. "You were so helpful to my wolves last night. Perhaps you can help me now."
"Forgive me, Your Majesty." The Fox bowed.
"Oh, don't waste my time with flattery." The Witch scoffed.
"Not to seem rude, but I wasn't actually talking to you." The fox said back to her. The Witch looked at Edmund and Esther and then to the Fox. She twirled her wand and approached to the Fox. "Where are the humans headed?" She asked him. The fox refused to answer, and the Witch lifted her wand at him, but Edmund stepped up and blocked the Fox.
"Wait! No! Don't!" He cried out. "The beaver said something about the Stone Table, and that Aslan had an army there." Then Edmund he once again betrayed them. Esther put her hand on her forehead shaking her head as she realized the same. The Witch raised an eyebrow. "An army?" She asked. "Thank you, Edmund. I'm glad that this creature got to see some honesty...before he dies!" She turned the poor fox to stone.
"NO!!" Edmund and Esther screamed in unison. The Witch turned to the duo and slapped them across face. Edmund and Esther placed their hands on their cheek where she slapped them. Edmund hid his tears from the Witch, but Esther glared at her. "Why do you hate me??!!" She screamed. "WHY DO YOU HATE NARNIA?!" Jadis just looked at her daughter, grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to the carriage. She then looked at Edmund who was still hiding his face. "Think about whose side you're on, Edmund." Jadis said coldly. "Mine..." she turned his head to the stone fox. "Or theirs?" Edmund looked at the stone fox with tears filled in his eyes. They went back to the carriage and Esther snuggled close to Edmund crying on his arm.
Edmund held her close. "I'm so sorry..." He murmured. "Are you alright?"
Esther nodded. "Mmhmm." Was all she said. She looked at Edmund's red slap mark on his cheek and caressed it. "Are you?" Edmund sighed and rubbed his cheek. "I hope so." He whispered. Esther lightly kissed it. "I hope so too." Edmund blushed a bit. "Now I can see who your mother is..." he added.
"I tried to tell you." Esther sighed and looked down. Edmund smoothed her long black hair. "I understand now, Esther." He said. "I understand..." Jadis looked at the two. "Oh how flattering, has my little girl found love?" She then called her dwarf and whispered. "separate the two."
"Yes, your majesty." The dwarf nodded. The dwarf grabs Esther and ties to the back of the carriage. "Let go of me!" Esther grunted.
Edmund's eyes widen. "Est!" He cried out.
"Ed!" She cried out. The dwarf placed a gage over her mouth.
"Lay off her!" Edmund shouted. Jadis shot him a death glare. "SHUT UP!" She yelled, pointing at him. "If you know what's good for you!"
"I'm not going to let anyone hurt her!" Edmund said back. Jadis looked at her dwarf and he nodded. Hen then placed a gage over Edmund's mouth. "Agh!" Edmund grunted.
"Now we should be on our way." Jadis said, fixing the sides of her hair. Edmund and Esther tried to speak but the gage were making them hard to do so. They could only yell with muffled voices and squirm.
Meanwhile, the White Witch have gathered up her army and settled in the darker forest. Her army was bunch of ugly, yet terrifying creatures. There were boggles, Minotaurs, hags, bad wolves and goblins. She had tied Edmund and Esther to a tree And had her dwarf guard them both. Esther frowned at him. He then started to taunt Edmund and the Princess.
"Is our little prince and princess uncomfortable?" The dwarf asked in a baby voice. "Do they want their pillow fluffed?" He circled around the tree where he and Esther were tied up. "Special treatment for special KIDS!" He yelled. "Isn't that what you wanted?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." Edmund said bravely, despite having a gage tied around his mouth. "Get out of my bed, you JERK!" Esther rolled her eyes.
"I am the Queen's best servant." The dwarf looked at the two children square in the eye. "Don't you dare mess with me!"
"Then what are you going to do, runt?" Esther mocked back. "Go cry to the Witch?" She laughed. Edmund laughed too. The dwarf took out his dagger and held it to her throat. "Don't touch her!" Edmund squirmed. Esther bit her lip as a bit of blood dripped from her neck. Jadis soon came and the dwarf moved away from the two children. "What were you doing?" Jadis asked.
"Nothing." The dwarf said. "Just guarding these two rascals." Jadis looked at Esther's neck, there was dry blood. "Why is there blood on her neck." She turned to the dwarf. "Oh, she got scraped." The dwarf lied. Jadis raised an eyebrow. "Okay." She then walked away from the dwarf and the tied up children. Just then, they heard a sound of rustling. It was Aslan's army coming to rescue Edmund and Esther from Jadis the White Witch.
"They're here!" Esther exclaimed. The took Esther and Edmund, and tied up the dwarf. The centaurs untied the two children and helped them up their feet.
"Thank you!" Edmund said gratefully.
"You're welcome." Oreius smiled. Then Edmund and Esther grabbed the dwarf by his arms and forced him to the tree. He and Oreius held onto the dwarf so he doesn't let himself go. Esther then tied the dwarf up.
"Yes!" Edmund said triumphantly. "We did it!" Esther smiled. "Now lets get out of here."
"Good idea, Est." Edmund smiled back. Oreius then pulled him and Esther up to his back and they galloped with their army.
"We're a dynamic duo!" Esther shouted. She hugged him and kissed his cheek.
