Buttercup sat up as voices from the living room erupted into argument. She groaned tiredly and rubbed her sleepy eyes with her knuckles, rolling slowly off the couch. She bounced to her feet and stretched out her stiff limbs. It was slightly cold in just her shorts and tank top, but she just walked out towards the central room.
Buttercup noticed three things as she strayed into the heat of her sisters arguing. One, Blossom was back, two, a large bag of coins sat unnoticed on the table, and third, Brandon was sitting calmly on the couch, watching the show go on with tight lips.
Buttercup stopped besides the table, glancing down with wide eyes at the money before looking at her sisters. Either her arrival had gone unnoticed or they didn't care because neither acknowledged her, Bubbles too busy screaming at Blossom and Blossom too busy telling right back. Only Brandon seemed to notice her, giving a small nod before turning back to the argument.
"What did you think you'd achieve by dealing with him?" Bubbles screeched, her fists clenched and blue eyes bright with fury.
"I've just save us all, ten bags, Bubbles!" Blossom tried, but Bubbles just threw her hands up in disgust.
"The devil himself? For chords sake, do you realize what this means?" She waited for Blossom to answer, but the red head had gone silent.
"Death," Brandon answered for them, turning them to his direction. At first Bubbles appeared surprised at his presence, but she decided to turn back to Blossom.
"Exactly. Death has our scent and it's because of you! And all for some money!" Bubbles rubbed her head.
"Some money? Bubbles this is a fortune and it doesn't even involve killing," Blossom looked annoyed, her muscles tight and fists clenched.
"Oh yes, because kidnapping four royal people is so much easier than killing some street beggar," bubbles ran her fingers through her hair, closing her eyes tightly. Blossom stood quietly as she began to murmur to herself, offering Buttercup a chance to speak.
"What's with the money?" She asked bluntly, drawing Blossom's attention. Blossom seemed to brighten slightly and she came over, picking up the sack with one hand. Buttercup listened as the hundreds of coins clinked merrily together, filling her with slight joy.
"This is our upfront payment. There'll be ten more of these if we do our jobs right," Blossom explained, setting it carefully back down on the table.
"Job?" Buttercup asked curiously, drawing back to what Bubbles had said earlier.
"It's a bit of a big one, but there's no killing," she glared pointedly at Bubbles who returned the look and began to go into a lotus position. Bubbles liked to meditate, connect with her auma, when she got upset.
"So we're kidnapping," Buttercup summed up, picking up an apple from a clay bowl. She dusted it on her shirt first before taking a big juicy bite.
"Yes," Blossom said, although the reluctance in her eyes proved that it was no simple task.
"And who might that be?" She continued, raising an eyebrow. Blossom opened her mouth to answer, but Bubbles beat her to it.
"The princes and the princess," she said spitefully, her eyes still peacefully closed. Buttercup nearly chocked on her apple, grabbing her throat and thumping her chest to help it go down.
"Are you insane?" She gasped, clasping her chest.
"Slightly," Brandon said, shrugging his shoulders. Buttercup turned on him, hands on hips.
"So what, you're just all in for getting ourselves made into sushi?" She asked.
"We aren't going to be made into sushi," he said matter-of-factly, her yellow eyes shinning in the dank light.
"Oh yeah? And who told you this, you're sun queen?" Buttercup teased, but Brandon just smiled.
"The sun knows all," he said, adding a twirl of his finger for effect. Buttercup rolled her eyes and say down, turning back to her red headed sister.
"So what is you're great plan for this, besides asking planets for help," she glared at Brandon who just smiled knowingly back.
"There's a ball in just a few short days. If we can get ourselves in, I think the rest should be pretty simple," Blossom shrugged.
"Oh yes, because it'll be a piece of cake to smuggle people out of a place swarming with guards. Should we try to take over the world while we're at it?" Buttercup scowled while Blossom sighed tiredly.
"We don't really have a choice! It's either this or..." she paused, unwilling to say it, but Bubbles took the chance up rejoin the conversation
"Death? To be honest Blossom, I'm not sure which is worse right now," Bubbles said smugly, her eyes still tightly closed.
"Hell, Bubbles. It's either this or eternal hell," Blossom responded coldly. Bubbles didn't say anything but Buttercup saw her stiffen slightly.
"Eternal hell is pretty big. No sunlight for flower boy here, that's gonna be a real challenge," Buttercup pointed over her shoulder to Brandon who finally let his face dip into a frown.
"I follow all life, Buttercup, not just the sun. Even in hell there is spirit," Brandon said, his eyes narrowed.
"Now you sound like a goddamn priest. Son, father, holy spirit, amen, whatever the fuck you wanna hear," Buttercup sighed tiredly. She rubbed her fingers into her face and turned to Blossom with determined eyes. "Alright, well do this, but we got to be extremely careful. I'll figure out how many guards will be at the ball and when their shifts will be, flower boy over there needs to figure out a way into the kitchen so we can drug them, and you figure out how to get us into the ball."
"What about me?" Bubbles protested, looking extremely offended. Buttercup just smiled.
"I thought you said you didn't want to help?" She teased. Bubbles instantly went silent and dipped her head.
"You can make our dresses, were obviously gonna need some to get in," Blossom offered. Bubbles nodded, once again cheery, and got up.
"I'll head out right now," she declared, grabbing her cloak. And so it was set. We were gonna break into the most heavily guarded place in the land and steal four royals. How hard could it be?
