Chapter 23: Encounter

Levi's POV

"No! Enough, Isabel!" I hissed as she tried to pour herself another cup of wine. Thankfully she's taking the day off tomorrow. Otherwise, well, I don't even know what to do at that point. Farlan decided to bring a whole bunch of beer to my apartment. "Isabel, put that down, now."

Now I'm just becoming a parent. I don't think it's a bad thing though... considering Hanji's pregnant. We're going to be parents...

Isabel rolled her eyes, putting down the bottle of wine. "You're a meanie, Levi."

"I'm the meanie? Isabel, I've been counting how many times you filled that glass. 7 times. 7 times, Isabel. You drank too much. How the hell are you going to get home?"

She giggles as her cheeks grew red from being this drunk. There were a few times I've seen her like this... never ended well. She either passed out from wherever she was or she would play in the bathtub like a little girl again. "Trick question, Levi! I'm not going home!"

"What?!"

Farlan laughs, getting up to walk into the kitchen. "Sorry, Levi. I mean, you can drive us, but you're already getting tipsy. I see your cheeks getting red. I know you have a high tolerance, but if we get pulled over and they test you, we're not too sure if you're going to lose your license over this. Let's be careful."

"Go and order a ride then."

"Eh... costs too much." Farlan scoffed a bit, getting an orange, and began to peel it. "Hope you don't mind, right, Levi? We can just take the couch. Actually, Isabel takes the couch and I get the floor."

I'm not going to fight this anymore.

The front door suddenly swung open, and I perked up to it. "Oh... oh..." Hanji was at the door- why the hell is she here? She's not supposed to be here. "I'll leave."

"Hanji, wait," I called out to her, chasing her. From behind me, I could hear Isabel calling her name like a little school girl. "Hanji."

I finally caught up to her. She had a red suitcase at her side when I laid my eyes on her. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come... I'll just lay low in a hotel-."

"No, you don't need to. Why didn't you call me?"

"I did. 3 times, Levi. You didn't answer. I thought that maybe you had your phone on mute or it was dead. I thought that if you weren't home, that it would've been okay to stay in your apartment. Of course, I would've called and texted you that I was here."

Quickly, I checked my phone from my back pocket. Of course. 3 missed calls. "My bad, Hanji. I... Isabel and Farlan are here. I left my phone on mute. I'm sorry."

"I smelled alcohol, Levi-."

"Yeah... and they're adamant about not getting a ride back home. And since you're here, pregnant, and it's late at night, I don't want you to drive them home. Another thing... it's not like I don't want you here, but what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be staying home-."

"My parents found out about my pregnancy, Levi. Mom got me out of the house. Dad wanted me to get rid of the baby... and he was giving me the night to rethink my decision. I ran away, Levi... and I have no one else to go to. Nanaba's parents won't take me in because her parents don't support being pregnant in high school. As well as the fact that my loveable boyfriend is a substitute teacher at our high school."

We exchanged a kiss before I grinned. "Alright then. You can stay home with me. First, you need to shower, okay? A good, long bath."

"With bubbles?"

"Whatever you want. Did you have a chance to eat yet?"

"I... grabbed a small burger and large fries before coming here..." She says with shameful eyes. "But I'm still hungry..."

I laughed a bit, reaching up to kiss her cheek. "Alright. Go take a bubble bath and I'll make you ravioli, okay? I'll tone down the garlic because I know you don't like it too much. Now, before you walk back into the room, can I ask what I should tell them about you?"

"Everything. You can tell them everything, Levi. There's no point in hiding the entire thing."

I nodded, grabbing her luggage and walking back to my room. "Alright then. After you shower and eat, you need to sleep, okay? You must be exhausted..."

"A little. Can you tell them to quiet down when I sleep?"

"I'll be sure to tell them, Hanji."

We entered back into the room, and Hanji quickly walked into the bedroom. Farlan held up his can of beer, chuckling. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, Levi... you're seeing someone? How long has this been going on?"

"Months," I say sternly, pulling the suitcase behind me. "No, she's not having alcohol for 2 reasons."

Once Hanji quickly closed the door behind her, I slid her suitcase into the room before going into the kitchen to prep her dinner. "2 reasons? Why?"

"She's pregnant and underage."

"Ohh... pregnant- wait, underage?! How underage is she?!" Farlan got up, staring down at me with drunken eyes. But I could tell anger began to simmer. "Levi, are you hiding something from us? This is serious. I'm not joking."

"She's 18 years old- she's legal."

"Still, 18. Doesn't matter how it's shown. She's still a kid. She's still in high school, right? Is it at the same school you're currently teaching?"

I sighed, beginning to boil water. "Yes, but her school year is almost over."

"Won't the teachers know it?"

"If they knew it, they would've expelled me from the school by now."

Farlan scoffed, shaking his head. "Levi, this isn't good. Why is she here?"

"Her dad kicked her out. She'll stay with me. Farlan, before you say anything else, there's nothing that I wouldn't do for her. When we first met, yeah, she was underage. But nothing sexual happened until after she was 18. Hell, I was against the idea. Farlan, trust me, I do love her. I want to do everything I can for the baby. If I fail, then feel free to do whatever you want to me. But I promise you, I'll do everything in my power to make sure those two are safe."

Farlan stays quiet for a few seconds before responding. "So it's your baby there?"

"Yes."

"You better make sure that the baby grows up good. If not, I'll bury you in the ground- unmarked."

"I won't let anything bad happen to them. To them or Hanji."

"And you're sure nothing sexual happened before she turned 18?"

"I'm pretty damn sure, Farlan. I'm not some creep that preys on younger children. I despise people like that, and I hope they get caught by the police. When I first laid eyes on her, I thought she was a teacher. Never a high school student."

"Fine."
