I had spent about a week with the Crystal Gems. Of course, Opal and Garnet seemed weary of me, but Steven and Lapis Lazuli welcomed me with open arms. I still hasn't found out who Opal was a fusion of, or Garnet for that matter.

One thought was constantly stuck in my head, however. I don't fit in.

But, I pushed that thought out of my mind. My first mission with the Gems was today! Me, Steven, Connie (who tagged along), and Lapis Lazuli were supposed to go to the Communication Hub, the Kindergarden, and the Galaxy Warp to look for two gems, Jasper and Peridot. (I didn't know where Garnet and Opal were supposed to go.) I wasn't sure what their importance was, but it probably wasn't too good.

I looked around at this place. It seemed like this tower had taken a lot of damage not too long ago. But, there was no signals being broadcasted, and no sign of Peridot or Jasper. We stepped back on the Warp Pad. "Aww man... now we gotta go to the Kindergarden." Steven sighed. "What's so bad about this place?" Connie asked.

Why can't I tell them? I questioned. It was something simple. I was a Kindergarden Gem. Not this one particularly, but I was from a Kindergarden.

"Hey, don't worry you two." Lapis Lazuli smiled. "If anything happens, I'll get you guys to safety, and Aventurine will protect you." She reassured. "Right, Aventurine?" I nodded.

Steven giggled. "Well, I'll make sure to protect you!" He exclaimed, drawing out his shield. It still surprised me that Rose Quartz gave up her physical form to have a half-human child... but I liked Steven. He was already so powerful, especially for someone as young as him. When I was his size, I couldn't even summon my patas.

The light disappeared from us and I looked around. The place was riddled with holes and large drills. "Nobody told me about this place!" Connie exclaimed. Steven frowned. "All I know is that gems came here and did bad things..." He said. "I don't know what they did though..." I nodded. A-Are Kindergardens really bad?

"S-So, we should just walked around and hope to find one of the two?" I asked. Lapis Lazuli nodded. "I'd hope to find Peridot instead of Jasper." She said.

"Jasper is huge." Steven said. "She broke up Garnet once, and messed up my face." So, Garnet IS a fusion.

"Hey, I'll fly up and see if I can see anything from the air." Lapis Lazuli said, allowing her water wings to grow out of her gem. She shot up into the air. "Alright Steven, Connie I guess we can look for Peridot and/or Jasper on the ground." I said.

We walked around the Kindergarden, looking in the holes and under the drills. "So, Aventurine..." Steven said. "What do you think of the gems?" He asked.

"Hmm." I really wasn't sure what to think. "Garnet's pretty stoic, but she really cares about you. Opal's really silent, but she's quick and agile. Lapis Lazuli seems really nice and probably the coolest, in my opinion." I admitted. "But of course, you're my favorite Crystal Gem." He grinned, going starry-eyed.

I heard something. It wasn't anything major, but it was there.

"Shh." I said. "I hear something." They nodded and we crept along.

"Jasper! What are we going to do?! The Galaxy Warp is destroyed, and the only possible way we could get back to Homeworld is by using my escape pod!" A voice called out.

"I don't know what we're going to do." Another voice said. "We can't just attack them directly... what we need is a plan." A noise I was familiar with echoed throughout the Kindergarden. "They warped away." I sighed.

Steven frowned. "They said something about a plan! They're gonna attack us!" He said. I put my hand on his head. "Hey, don't worry, Steven. Aventurine here is gonna destroy those two!" I said, trying to reassure him. Steven's frown disappeared, but he still looked worried. Connie grabbed his hand. "Don't worry, I'll keep you safe too!" She said. I wasn't sure how though. She was only a human.

"Steven?! Connie?! Aventurine?!" A voice called out. I looked up and saw Lapis Lazuli float down. "Ah. There you are. Any luck?" She asked. Before we could say anything, the wall beside her exploded. I saw something pink cover me. I looked down at Steven. Did he just create a bubble and use it like a shield?

After the dust cleared away, and the bubble popped, we saw what caused the explosion. A corrupted gem burst its way out of the rock wall. I looked over and saw Lapis Lazuli. She was obviously hurt. "Steven, Connie, stay here." I said. They nodded.

Don't be afraid! Don't be afraid! The gem, which had taken the form of a bull, was gonna charge at Lapis Lazuli. It ran at her, and I did something stupid.

I jumped in its way.
