Chapter Three- Ride the Bull

The bull slammed it's horns into my patas. I struggled with it for a few moments before managing to push it back. The bull lowered its head and rushed at me again. Don't be afraid.

I slammed my sword down into its side as it got close. Nothing. It slammed its head into my chest (barely missing my gem) and sent me hurdling into the wall. My patas disappeared.

I stood back up and looked at the beast. If I could summon my weapon again... I could possibly shove my sword through its chest...

I rushed at me again, and I froze. Its horns rammed into the wall beside me, pinning me against it. "Gah!" I screamed. That's when it happened.

A bright pink sword stabbed into the bull's side. It disappeared in a flash of red, and a red gemstone dropped to the ground. The mystery assailant picked the gem up and bubbled it.

"Aventurine? Lapis? You okay?" They asked. I looked up and saw someone familiar. "Who... who are you?" I asked.

"Stevonnie. It's Steven and Connie, mashed together!" They said. I gasped. Steven and Connie can fuse?!

I felt them pick me up. "Hey, let's get back to the Temple." They said. "You and Lapis are hurt." I nodded.

I laid out on the floor in the temple. Stevonnie had laid Lapis Lazuli out on the couch. In a flash of white, they unfused.

"Aventurine!" Steven said. "Are you okay? That gem did a lot of damage..." He said. I nodded. "I'm alright. I can heal up quickly. You should make sure Lapis Lazuli is okay..." I said, which was a lie. I was in extreme pain. My arms burned, but Lapis Lazuli was in worse condition. Why am I so worried about her?

The temple lit up white and two people stepped off the warp pad. "Steven! Connie! What happened?" Opal asked, quickly walking over to the two.

"We got attacked by a corrupted gem! Lapis Lazuli was attack from behind and Aventurine distracted it. We formed Stevonnie and poofed it!" Steven said. Garnet nodded. "Good job you two."

"What do you mean good job?" Opal asked. "Steven got too close to that gem monster, what if he got hurt?!" She asked. "Opal... calm down." Garnet said.

"Gah!" Opal screamed, turning into a bright white light. She unfused into two gems: a white gem and a purple one.

"Steven, are you okay?!" The white one asked, hugging him. "Pearl, I'm fine." He reassured. Pearl nodded.

"I'm sorry..." She said. "I guess I overreacted." The purple one giggled. "Hey Steven and Connie, nice job out there." The purple one said. "Thanks Amethyst." The two said in unison.

"Alright, Amethyst." Pearl said. "Shall we?" Amethyst nodded. The two began to dance, Pearl doing ballet and Amethyst doing some kind of free-form dance. They fused back into Opal.

"Much better." She said.

That evening, me, Steven, and Lapis Lazuli sat out on the beach. Lapis Lazuli and I had recovered enough to be up. "So... that's how I managed to break them apart." Steven said.

"I didn't want you to..." Lapis Lazuli sighed. "Now Jasper is out somewhere and planning to hurt you!" She exclaimed.

"Hey, Lapis." Steven said. "I'd rather you be here we us than stuck at the bottom of the sea with Jasper." He said. Lapis Lazuli grinned.

"And I'd rather be here, with you." She said, smiling. "Anyways, after Steven broke us up, I came back here to the temple." Lapis Lazuli said. "Steven insisted I joined the Crystal Gems, and I did."

"So, you fused with Jasper to keep her at the bottom of be sea?" I asked. "Man, I'm sorry you had to do that." I said, putting my hand on her shoulder. Lapis Lazuli turned and looked at me. "Hey, I did it." She said. "If it's anyone's fault, it's my own."

I glanced out at the ocean. The waves would come in slow, and return back out even slower. The night sky was littered with thousands upon thousands of brightly burning stars. The moon was gone from the sky, but the light of the stars managed to illuminate the area.

In my own opinion, it was a beautiful night.

Steven pulled out his cell phone and clicked some song. It wasn't anything loud, and there was no words, but it seemed to fit the night.

"Let's dance." Lapis Lazuli said, grabbing my hand. She pulled me and spun me around. "Why'd you wanna dance?" I asked.

"This song makes me wanna dance..." She replied. I nodded, grabbing her hands. It was my turn to spin her around, and I did. I twirled her around, holding her hand tightly.

She grinned and let go, causing me to trip back. She stuck out her tongue and ran along the beach. I laughed and chased after her along the beach. "Hey guys, wait up!" Steven said, grabbing his phone. He chased after us.

I finally caught up to Lapis and grabbed her hand again. "You know Lapis Lazuli, they say running away from who you're dancing with is rude." I said.

"You know you can just call me Lapis." She said. I nodded, putting my hands back into her's. They seemed to fit perfectly.

I spun her around once as Steven caught up. "You guys... are still dancing?" He asked.

Lapis giggled, and I dipped her. The last thing I could remember was a bright flash of white.
