V-Card

"Well don't you just look delectable tonight," Rodney said as he snuck a wine glass instead of a sparkling cider from the waiter's tray. He took a sip from his glass with a smirk still plastered on his face. I scowled at him, but couldn't find any words.

"So are you going to tell them I took your v-card, or should I?" At his words, my sparkling cider caught in the back of my throat and I choked.

"We are not telling them that." I set my drink to the side and turned to make my way to my father to congratulate him, but I was stopped. Rodney's grip on my arm was firm, but not painful. Blue eyes bore into mine as the softness in his eyes was overcoming the edge they usually had. "I was only kidding, sis."

I cringed at just how uncomfortable this whole situation was. My dad had just put a ring on the worst possible woman I could ever think of. Abigail was great herself, but my history with her son only months ago really made it uncomfortable for me to ever think about calling her mom.

My life was surely taking a turn for the worst and I couldn't understand how Rodney could be so laid back. He was smirking and cracking jokes while I was almost hyperventilating and contemplating bringing my lunch back to the surface.

"By the way," Rod's smirk grew. "You're staying in my room until we make a room for Joey in the basement." He winked and walked away laughing.

I turned to glance at my father and couldn't help but grimace as he kissed his new bride.
