Chapter 6

It has been days since I had ran away from Dave. At the time I was terrified that he would catch me. And now I was scared and tired as I kept running from the demon who had kept me for so long. I knew Dave would be looking for me so I was trying to be careful. I didn't want to be a bargaining chip for him to get higher in the ranks.

I was currently stumbling through a field. I gasp when I feel a weird tingling in my back. I slip the jacket off of my back and my wings ripped through my dress.

"Ah, that feels much better." you smile to yourself.

I flap my wings to test them out and I sigh in relief when they move properly.

"(y/n)!" a familiar voice shouts.

I turn around to see that Dave was running towards me, his wings and tail were out, showing that he must have been flying. As soon as he steps into range, you slap him.

"You asshole!" you scream at him.

"What was that for?!" he yells, his voice twisted in anger. Once he sees me crying his expression softens, his hand was rubbing his now reddened cheek.

"I was beginning to think you were different from other demons, but I was terribly wrong," I sob, "you are just as I was told demons were."

"What are you talking about?" Dave asks, a confused look on his face.

"I followed you the night I left," you begin, "you were talking to another demon about getting rid of me."

I begin to collapse but Dave catches me before I fall to the floor.

"It's not like that," Dave explains, his voice was now softer, "I was planning to betray them, run away with you."

"But why?" I ask.

"Because I have become... attached to you." He says awkwardly.

I could tell by the sound of he was being sincere.

I could feel myself tearing up once again.

"Stop right there," a voice yells, "we are here to return the princess to her father!"

I look around to see angel guards surrounding the both of us. Dave goes to pull out his sword but I stop him.

"Please don't." you whimper and look up at him.

I stand up and leave Dave's grasp.

"If I leave with you will you let the demon go?" I ask.

The leader of the guards step forward, "of course, milady" he agrees.

I turn back to Dave and smile, the tears that had gathered in my eyes, was now pouring down my cheeks. I then turn around and walk away from Dave. I glance back to see him standing in the same spot, his head hung down.

"Come, milady," the leader says and opens up a portal.

I take one last look at Dave before entering.

'Goodbye...'
